Our End-of-the-Summer Celebration! *TR LINK ADDED!!*

Happy spring break!

Love all those NYC pics. Your right that picture is so NY! It's funny to see that Macy's doesn't take down that Thanksgiving thing on the sidewalk. Maybe it's painted on and that's why they cant? :confused3

As for AI: I was kind of sad to see Scott go. He did much better when he was singing to stay than the night before. Well besides that high note. I think this week Anoop or Lil will be going. Do you know what this weeks theme is going to be?

Thanks!! :cool1:

Yeah, I bet it is painted on and maybe it just never wears off completely. :confused3

Oh, I was kind of sad to see Scott go too even though he wasn't my favorite. And I agree, he was so much better Wednesday night than Tuesday. I wish Lil would go but I just don't think she will even though she's never done anything! :confused3:mad: I think I read on the AI thread on the Community Board that the theme is songs from movies...??? OH YEAH I also read on there that Matt is a big Disney fan...maybe he'll do a Disney song! haha :thumbsup2

Your ticker says only one month until your trip!! :yay::woohoo:

NYC was a lot of fun. Such a great place to visit. :thumbsup2 And Mary Poppins was awesome. I was listening to a couple of the songs from the show on my iPod before and now they're stuck in my head! haha

Yeah, a DIS meet would be fun! The 24th probably would be the best day seeing as we leave the 25th! :sad2: We haven't gone to one of the water parks in soooo long...my sister and I really want to go to Blizzard Beach this time. But yes, we should think of a way to meet up. I know Dad's been lurking on my PTR and asked if people actually meet up...he said that sounds fun! :)

The kids want to go to NYC bad. I wanted to wait until the baby was a little older though. Hopefully in the next couple of years. Until they releasze those hours I won't know what we're doing but as soon as they do we'll make a plan for the 24th. Who else is coming at the same time that you know of? It's been a couple of years w/o water parks for us. I'm going to buy AP's. I have a set of tickets from Dec that we had to buy in order to ger dining so I plan to make those into the WP AP's. It wont cost too much more to do that.

I'm not sure of anyone else who's going at that time...maybe we could look on the August 2009 Thread??

Ohhh I didn't know that he was a Disney fan!! That would be pretty cool if he picked a Disney song. I guess we will jut have to see!

Just wanted to say

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Happy Easter to you too!!!! :goodvibes

It's so weird that it was still up in March because they do usually get rid of it! I haven't been up there in a while but in the past it's never been up there past December. Weird!

Happy Easter!

I'm here, Sarah! So excited for your next trip! Wilderness Lodge has long been on my list so I'm excited to hear what you think of it! I have tentative reservations there for December 2009. :rolleyes1

Your NYC trip looked like fun. Thanks for sharing!! :upsidedow

Yeah, I guess in some interview he said Disney is his guilty pleasure and how one day at their house he was watching Pinocchio. Awww. hehe I'm excited for AI this week (well, I always am...)

Thanks Cheryl!

Oh really?! That is strange that it was still there then!

Thanks, hope you had a nice day!

Yay, welcome! Glad you found me. :thumbsup2 I've been wanting to stay at the WL for a while now too and am really looking forward to it. It just seems so different from other resorts. It would be fun to go there in December...the Christmas decorations are awesome!

Hi Sarah!

Finally found my way over! How cool you're going to WL! Again, another one of my favourite resorts!
NYC looks really cool, we went there on our honeymoon, and we did skate at Rockefeller Plaza - it was great! Plus we saw Robert Wagner and Jill St John having lunch in one of the restaurants!
We're hoping to back in 2 years for our 40th birthday treat!
Mary Poppins sounds great!

Hi Diane! :wave2:

Glad you made it to my new PTR! I'm so pumped about the WL. Another resort to check of the list of places I want to stay. :thumbsup2

That is neat you went there on your honeymoon and got to skate there. That would have been so much fun though I don't know how much skating I'd actually be doing...I haven't ice skated in years! :lmao:

Hey again everybody!

Since I don't have school this week :cool1: I thought I'd post another update. First some Disney-related stuff/randomness (then another NYC update :)).

The other night we finally got around to watching Pinocchio. I honestly don't remember the last time I saw that movie. It was pretty cute, some parts seemed a bit strange but hey, it is Disney so of course I enjoyed it. :) Especially Jiminy Cricket, awww, he was so cute! :goodvibes hehe It was funny at the beginning because I didn't realize that they took some of the narration from Wishes directly from the movie. So that got me thinking about Disney World...:teeth: The next movie on my list is Bolt! I saw last weekend Target had some Disney DVDs on sale so I got that one to add to our collection. I have to admit when the movie first came out I wasn't too interested in it but now I am excited! I'm curious to see what it's like. I hear it's pretty good!

Before we watched the movie though my sister and I were just kind of randomly thinking of things we want to do on our trip. Here's what we came up with:

:wizard: Get Chik-Fil-A at the airport for lunch. :rotfl: OK, so really this has nothing whatsoever to do with Disney but you have to understand that we don't have any Chik-Fil-As around here (atleast not anymore :sad2:) When we got arrived in December we stopped to get something to eat there before getting the Magical Express bus. We plan to do the same this time. Sooo good!

:wizard: See the Electrical Water Pageant. This is something we haven't done in years. Does anybody know if you can see it from the Wilderness Lodge? I'm pretty sure I read that you can see it from all the Magic Kingdom resorts. Even if you can't I wouldn't mind going over to the Polynesian to watch it. :goodvibes

:wizard: Eat at the T-Rex Cafe. It just seems so fun and we really liked the Rainforest Cafe.

:wizard: Do the Kim Possible Adventure at Epcot. OK, so really I didn't share this but it sounds like it could be pretty neat. Basically you get this "Kimmunicator" phone thing and you get to go on adventures in some of the World Showcase pavilions.

:wizard: See the updated Hall of Presidents. This was Emma's idea...I think she wants to see Obama. hehe Plus we haven't done this in ages either (funny how we take all these trips and do the same things all the time. But this one always just seemed kind of boring to me. I'm willing to give it another try though!).

:wizard: Go to Blizzard Beach. But we are not going on Summit Plummet! :scared1::rotfl:

:wizard: The American Idol Experience!!!We didn't actually mention this one but it's a given! (P.S., I just bought Anoop's version of "True Colors" on iTunes...it reminds me of the old preshow at Honey, I Shrunk the Audience :goodvibes;) Oh yeah, and Anoop is one of my favorites :thumbsup2)

So that's all we came up with for the time being but I'm sure there will be more once we get closer to August!

Hurrah for having the week off from school! :cheer2:

Water pagent, Kim Possible and refurbed Hall of Presidents on my list too! :thumbsup2

Chick Fil A... really that good? I always see it at the airport and think that it gets mentioned a lot but haven't tried it. :confused3

Yay for Chick Fill A, we love it in our family... well ok, the kids and I love it... DH could take it or leave it. :)
I didn't know about the Kim Possible thing. Sounds interesting, if you do it tell all about how it works.
Anoop seems like a good guy, good singer... but I am thinking that the judges are favoring Adam, he seems to have the edge they are looking for. I am partial to Danny.

haha, yeah, maybe Chik Fil A is just really good to us because we don't ever get it (unless we're on vacation somewhere in the south!). But we love it!

Yeah, I'll definitely let you know how the Kim Possible thing works. It sounds like it could be fun.

I totally agree about Adam, I am not a fan of his at all. :confused3 I know Anoop doesn't really stand a chance especially since he always seems to be in the bottom 2! And I also love Danny, he's from around here so I think it would be pretty cool if he won! :thumbsup2

Sounds like some great plans! You can see the EWP from the Wilerness Lodge :thumbsup2

I just got all caught up!

I am loving all the NYC pictures. You're making me really want to go!

I only like the fries at Chick-Fil-A. I hate their chicken!

Now back to the NYC trip report as promised...

NYC Day 3 cont'd...
I left off with us getting ready for the basketball tournament again. Like the
previous day, it was a doubleheader. The first game was Providence and
Louisville.

This game wasn't really much of a contest, Louisville won easily. Then there
was a short break/warm-up session before the Marquette game! They were playing
Villanova, who they played twice during the regular season. MU beat them when
they played here but then lost when they played at Villanova. It was going to
be an interesting game.

2581_561750126284_20305212_34708156_2481776_n.jpg

This game was pretty much a game of two halves. We didn't have much to cheer
about in the first half. Marquette got behind pretty quickly and couldn't seem
to do anything. They were down by 16 points at halftime. :sad2:

Then in the second half they seemed to be turning things around a bit.
Marquette started to get closer and eventually pulled ahead! It was
funny because at first the crowd was pretty pro-Villanova (Villanova is in
Philly, making it much easier for their fans to get there) but then slowly
people started to cheer for Marquette. It did bother me though how the PA
announcer seemed so annoyed whenever MU would score, like he couldn't believe it
or something. :confused3 So MU was ahead by one point with about a minute left
and had a couple chances to add to the lead but couldn't. In the end, we lost
by one point on a last second shot. Literally. UGGGGHHHH it was so depressing!
:sad2: But I guess it was good that they atleast made the game more
interesting instead of it being a total rout.

We then walked back to our hotel for a short break. Because it was my birthday Mom had a little treat waiting for me...a chocolate cupcake, lol! It was very yummy. We also decided to go out to dinner to celebrate. It wasn't anything fancy but still fun. I ended up choosing the Olive Garden (looooove Italian food!). I think we had to wait maybe 20 minutes which wasn't bad. Another thing about NYC is that everything, including restaurants, is so big! We put our name in and then went up to wait on the second level (I think every restaurant we went to either had an upstairs seating area or a downstairs seating area).

We had a nice waiter and we were served the usual salad and breadsticks you get at the Olive Garden. He also offered us a sample of some wine. It's really funny because I am not a drinker at all so everything to me seems so strong when I'm sure other people wouldn't think anything of it. Oh well. Here's me and Emma, notice we're still in our game day apparel. :)

Dinner was very good. Mom and I ordered spaghetti and meatballs, Emma got a pizza, Claire got ravioli, and I think Dad got chicken parmesan (??). After dinner we headed back to the hotel for the night, but of course we had to first stop to take some more pictures in Times Square. I'm telling you, it's quite a spectacle during the day but at night it really is something. We found this big staircase and started snapping away like all the other tourists. haha!

up next: Our day of sightseeing!!

Hey Sarah, I'm joining in!! Gotta say, I am SO jealous that you're staying at the WL. If only DH wasn't in school, then that's definitely where we WOULD be staying. Until the day we aren't poor college students, Pop is going to have to suffice.

Love your mini-TR to NYC, especially the pics! Looks like you guys had a blast.

Btw, I have a friend who is OBSESSED w/ Chick-fil-A. They have this promotion where you can bring back your receipt from a certain day and get the same food for free. She talks about it all the time. It cracks me up.

Love the pictures! I can't remember the last time I went to an Olive Garden, was it good? I hope so! Looking forward to more!

Sounds like some great plans! You can see the EWP from the Wilerness Lodge :thumbsup2

Ok, thanks for confirming that you can see the EWP from WL!

I just got all caught up!

I am loving all the NYC pictures. You're making me really want to go!

I only like the fries at Chick-Fil-A. I hate their chicken!

Glad you are enjoying the NYC pictures. :thumbsup2

Ohhhh the chicken is the best part! LOL.

Hi and :welcome: to my PTR! Yay for another new reader! Yeah, luckily with our DVC points we can stay at the WL...for a couple trips before we joined DVC we stayed at the All Star resorts. It was quite different from the Polynesian where we stayed for a bunch of trips but hey, you are still in Disney World!

We did have a lot of fun in NYC! I'm glad we finally made it out there.

haha, that is funny about your friend!
