Our End-of-the-Summer Celebration! *TR LINK ADDED!!*

Do you know how weird it is reading a trip report about your home?!! I'm used to Disney ones so it's crazy seeing pictures of the stuff I see every day  I'm glad you and your fam had a good time! I drive past the WTC site all the time, and it's so different now than it was a few years ago. I'll never forget seeing the smoke rising from the area. Good family friends of mine on my block lost their uncle on that day - he was one of the first firefighters down at the site, and someone jumped from the building and landed on him :sad2: We grew up with these friends of mine and our parents are all close, so the whole thing was just horrible. His little girl was only 2 at the time. RIP Uncle Danny :sad1:

http://www.legacy.com/Sept11/Story.aspx?PersonID=93191

I'll also never forget how 3-hours after the second building collapsed, TONS of burnt papers in a myriad of languages started falling from the sky in the neighborhood, all from the WTC. It was surreal, and we still have some of them saved. I get chills just thinking about it. It may just be a big gaping hole in the ground now, but it was such a life-changing moment in our world that I can't imagine anyone not wanting to see it and pay their respects.

OK, on to happier things! The attraction poster sounds cute, add me to the list of people who didn't know they had those. Did you make it over to Rockefeller Center? I loved all the pics!

*a little hijack*
Troobabiee7... I read the attachment you posted about your family friend, Uncle Danny. I'm so sorry. I believe that day is branded in our minds in so many different ways depending where you live and what you were doing that day. It must have been unbelievable for you living so close and being so personally touched. :sad1:

The ride posters... so many of us are interested I wonder if there isn't somewhere that we can get them besides the store?

More fantastic pictures from NY, it really looks like you's had a great time:)
I have never seen the pics of the 9/11 memorial, its so beautifully done. Such a sad, sad day i can't even imagine how sad it was for NY'ers
I too wish I had gone too NY before so i could have seen the buildings, they were so simple but nice buildings and such a part of NY to me when I looked at pictures of the skyline.

Aww Mel that is such a sad story :hug::hug:
I watched a documentary about NY firefighters a few days ago and it ended up being turn't into a 9/11 docu because it happened while they were filming and it was so sad, those poor people who lost their lives :sad1:

I visited Ground Zero a few years ago. Its so eery to see how quiet it is in that area with all the hustle and bustle of the city around.

Did you buy any fake purses?! :rotfl2:

Great pictures!

I don't think I could go to the WTC site without ending up in tears. It doesn't take much talking about it for me to start crying.

I didn't know the FAO building had a HP section! Now, I want to go even more!

Do you mind if I ask how much the poster was? I would love to get some for a room in our new house, but am wondering if they're cheaper online or from the source.

Thank you!

I was kind of afraid I would start crying but luckily I held it together. But I am glad we went by to see it. We also walked through this other big building right near there (can't remember what it was called though :confused3) and there were a lot of tours going on. I could tell the guides were talking about 9/11.

Umm, I think the ride poster was somewhere around $30. It really wasn't too bad at all.

haha, yeah, I bet it is kind of funny and I bet I sounded like a total tourist too! I really don't know how I would've reacted if I lived in NYC when everything happened. Last 9/11 I found some videos on youtube of some people video taping everything as it happened from their apartment and that gave me chills. I can't imagine what it was like in person! :sad2::guilty:

I feel so badly for everyone who lost someone on that day. Thank you for sharing that site.

And yes back to more cheerful things, we did go to Rockefeller Center right after we got there on our first day. Then the next morning my mom and dad went over to the Today show which they said was pretty cool! They even got their pictures with Meredith Viera and Ann Curry. :thumbsup2:laughing:

That is a really good question, I was under the impression that you can't get them online. Maybe you can though. :confused3

Thanks, Sarah!

A while ago we were watching Home Alone 2 and there is one scene where you can see the Twin Towers and that made me sad. :sad2:

I visited Ground Zero a few years ago. Its so eery to see how quiet it is in that area with all the hustle and bustle of the city around.

LOL, no, I didn't get any fake purses. :rotfl:

Woo hoo, look at my ticker, it's

Less than 4 months to go!! :cool1::thumbsup2:rotfl:

A side note...do any of you guys subscribe to Celebrations Magazine? I read about it a while ago on the DIS and because I miss the Disney magazine so much I decided to subscribe. I have to say it is a great magazine! They have a lot of interesting stories and the pictures are fantastic! It's so fun reading each issue because I always learn something new even though I've been to Disney World so many times. I just received the new issue and they have a story about the Flower and Garden Festival...brings back memories from our trip last May! If you don't subscribe, I'd definitely recommend it to you guys. :thumbsup2

I also bought the first issue of the D23 magazine just to see what it's like so I have lots of fun Disney reading to do now. :)

To my fellow Idol fans, who is ready for Disco Night tonight?! :rotfl::scared1:

I was at Epcot this past weekend, all day long I kept hearing, the sound the hand held gadget makes, when you find your clue. I was ready to hurt someone. I was sitting quietly in the gardens where the British Invasion plays and people kept strolling in and out and I finally figured out, what they were doing.

I get the magazine.
It tooks us 2 tries to visit Celebration.
We knew where it was, we just took a wrong turn and gave up.
So the next day we tried again.
I love visiting Celebration.

I am going to feel like such an Italian momma here, even though I don't have an Italian bone in my body.
I know a certain someone that works really hard in Milwaukee,
is a recent grad of UW-Milwaukee
lives in Oak Creek,
and goes to Brewer games as much as possible,
will watches the Brewer game if not attending.
Give me a PM if you want to sneak a peak at someone
on facebook.

Ok,
I can't believe I am trying to be a matchmaker on the DIS.

Tell me to mind my own business if you are dating someone
or don't want to, know way, now how.

I LOVE Celebration! I want a second home there. I accidentally came upon this place on my honeymoon. We thought we'd entered the Twlight Zone. It was so perfect and it was new at the time and it didn't look like people lived there. It was about 2-3 in the morning and we were looking for a post office. We saw the sign pointing that way so we checked it out. I instantly fell in love once I realized it was for real and not a 50's movie set. :rotfl2:

If you still wanna make a match my sister needs a new guy. She's 25, blonde, about 5'6, loves music (like Papa Roach), Disney, etc. ;) If you know any nice guys into concerts, movies, Disney, dining out, etc.

This is totally hi-jacking Sara's thread.
Does your sister live in WI? LOL

If I had my pick, Lil and Gokey would be eliminated tonight!!

Well atleast one of those 2 went home! I am sad about Anoop, I liked him. :sad2:

That would be fun to go visit Celebration.

haha, matchmaking on the DIS! Would that be your son? Does he know what you're up to on here?!;)

Speaking of the Brewers, they are on a little bit of a roll right now!:thumbsup2

Ohhh yes, I will be glad when it gets to 4 days too. :goodvibes Not to wish the summer away or anything...

This is totally hi-jacking Sara's thread.

I have to admit I am enjoying your hi-jacking, it is quite entertaining. LOL!

I LIKED ANOOP, TOO!!! :( But Lil and Gokey were my least favorites and then I like everyone else A LOT but Anoop was my least favorite out of the remaining contestants. Gokey neeeeeeds to go next! He yells and is boring now.

I was pleased that Lil and Anoop went, they were my least favourite 2 left. It seems like alot of people like Annop though, but i've never really been keen on him. Im so pleased Lil went, about time really.

I am ready for Matt to go now. I was kind of glad they saved him but now that Anoop is gone I'm pretty mad!:mad: And I hate it when Adam shrieks. :scared::confused3

I liked Anoop from the beginning and was so glad they decided to do a Top 13 to put him in there. Love him! My sisters and I are waiting for May 9 when the tickets go on sale for the tour...:rolleyes1

LOL!!! Adam totally shrieks! He'd be SO MUCH BETTER if he didn't do that! Someone said he sounds like Steven Tyler!! UM, NO! His voice is too Broadway for me and I feel like he might just turn into another Clay Aiken. I like him though and think he is really entertaining, I just would probably never buy his CD. Go to see him in a Broadway show or go see a movie he was in? Definitely.

And, um, it is NOT time for Matt to go! I love him he's SO AWESOME when he's having a good night but when he's having an off-day it makes me cringe. I had a dream we were dating, LOL! (My friend had a dream that she was dating Adam. She was like "It was so weird because he was like, REALLY, into me and I was confused" Hahahah!

Did you go to last years tour?!

I was so glad Lil finally went home this week! It was about time! I was sad to see Anoop go. I'm thinking Matt and Allison are going to be the ones to go next. I just don't know which order it will be in. I'm looking forward to May 9th too! :rolleyes1

I agree about Adam, I am not saying he isn't talented he's just not my style AT ALL and I can't STAND when he shrieks like that! :confused3 Yuck!

haha, that is funny about your dream. I had a really weird dream about him too that he just decided to quit the show! LOL. I am way too obsessed with that show...

We didn't go to last year's show because they didn't even come to Milwaukee!! :sad2::sad2: I was so sad because I really liked David Archuleta, haha! But other than last year we've gone every year since season 3 and it's always been a pretty fun show. A couple times we've even gone early to meet the idols...:rotfl::rolleyes1 It's going to be harder getting tickets this year I think with Danny in it.

I know, she needed to go. You know what is funny though is that no matter how much I can't stand a person I always feel bad for them when they leave. :confused3 It'll be interesting this week to see what happens...do we know the theme yet? :confused3
