I was just catching up on the news (you heard correctly EverythingDisney) and learned for certain that our local Disney Store is closing in 4-6 weeks.

More than 90 locations are closing due to Hoop Retail (division of The Childrens Place) filing bankruptcy.

I wasn't a big spender at TDS, but it was nice for a fix when I wasn't planning a trip.

There are 15 stores closing in PA. It stinks.

yep ours are closing too... unfortunately they didn't have very good deals today either :(

I keep trying to find that list of stores closing and can't. Anyone see a list yet?

I love the Disneystore and find lots of good stuff there all the time I even use their %15 off coupons...I am lucky enough to have 3 within 15 minutes of me. I live in Chicago. I have a feeling though I will be losing at least one of them. My main one is HUGE so it won't go anywhere plus I always have Michigan Ave too.....
I am dying to know which ones will disappear.

Thanks! We will be losing the one I thought.

Ours in Albany is closing also...I was just there Wednesday and Thursday night, it was announced on the news...:sad1:

I apparently am the only person who thinks SO??? I went in a few times. Sorry, but if you don't have a little kids or want to wear "teeny tiny T's" then what is there to buy? Hoop decided that "middle age women and men" don't do Disney... this is the result!

oh NO :(
The only one near us is on that list! They are always SO busy.. I don't get it.

:scared1: Both of mine are closing! I can't believe that my favorite one would close as it is always so busy. We were just there today and there weren't any signs indicating that it was closing. I will have to swing by there every couple of days to check it out.

I just looked again and noticed that the list includes every Disney Store in the Pittsburgh area. Unbelievable!

I am so bummed to see that ours here in Ohio is on that list. There won't be one in driving distance around us any more. We would always make trips to the mall just for the store. the kids LOVE it and I love the sales. We've gotten lots of great things for the home, TONS of 4.99 shirts, and things on clearance at such a savings. I'll miss it. Wonder when they will start discounting items before they shut down. SO DEPRESSING!

Ours is closing too. Only one in AR. I did pick up the Jungle Book lamp I have been coveting for an additional 40% off the already marked down price (paid $11.99, and originally $69.50). I also got the dog a new dish. There wasn't much else worth having, if you don't have kiddos.

I found this list on the Theme Parks board.

Sadly, the even the new outlets at Rockvale and Phila. Premium Outlets will be closing. They just opened fall-Christmas last year. My nearest store will be in the Lehigh Valley Mall, and it appears to be new.

I know its crazy how many stores our state of PA is losing-I also live in Berks County, and the closest store to me will now be King of Prussia, since both Berkshire and Exton Square are closing. The Exton store closing doesnt surprise me, since it was a smaller store and NEVER seemed to have more than an handful of guests in the store at one time. I did not go to the Berkshire store very often, even though it is the closest store, because I do not like that mall. It is a very nice store though- I remember it opened in about 98 or so, and it was the last store design the Walt Disney Company did before the "emergency room" style stores came along in 2000. (this store is similar to King of Prussia with the characters hanging from the ceiling where its made to look like they are filming a movie-lots of animation). I guess the time has finally come for these stores though, as they have survived many closings in the past few years. The store in the Phila Premium Outlets never did open (I had a feeling it wouldnt open when it was announced months ago It just seemed too good to be true-figures  ) . I heard the brand new Rockvale store, as well as the new store in the Hershey Outlets will be staying open though, even though they were in the "Remaining Stores" list. Park City Center, Harrisburg Mall and Capital City Mall (all the older Pink & Green stores) will be closing.

Truthfully, IMHO, the state of PA is oversaturated with Disney Stores, (according to the store locator website there are 21 in the state) so it kind of it makes sense that they are closing so many. There are about 10 stores within an hours drive from me alone. Even after the closings, there will still be about 6 within an hours drive. Its nice to have them around for that Disney Fix, but having one in every mall just makes it less special (though I still have to go in every time I see one and usually end up buying something :rotfl: ). I will miss the stores that are closing though, and I'm sorry about all of the Cast that will be losing their jobs. On a brighter note, I am moving back to Orlando next week and working at WDW permenantly (im currently seasonal), so I will no longer need to got to the mall stores to get a sense of Disney :thumbsup2

If you read the Disney news items found at the main page of these boards you will see that Disney just bought all the disney Stores back from children's place.
One of the stores close to me closed a few months ago but the one at the mall closer to me is still open. I am hoping that Disney will restock it again with merchandise that we adults love.
I hardly ever went into TDS since CP took them over except to check out the clearance racks. Nothing there was worth paying full price.
