I need to vent...yesterday was DS's 9th birthday. Unfortunately, my great-aunt passed away this week and her funeral was on the same day. No worries, I left the kids home with DH and drove the 90 miles upstate to be with my family. My mom and sister were pissed that I didn't bring the kids with me (to a funeral, on a birthday?), but whatever. Luckily for me, the burial was closer to my house (right next to the bridge, 30 miles from home), so I planned to leave afterward to head home and start celebrating. Again, family is upset b/c I wasn't traveling BACK upstate to hang out and basically drink the night away. Ummmm, did you not know that it was my DS's bday? If you want, you can can home with me and we'll have cake. I love my great-aunt, but I'm not going to get wasted in her memory when I can be home with my children. So, my son did not get a call from my mother or sister yesterday, but rather they relayed a message of Happy Birthday to pass on from them. Really? You couldn't take five minutes out of your time and call?? Whatever. Then, a dear friend that I have near me, who's kids I love like my own, couldn't even call. I understand that she was also at a funeral yesterday, but we had cake at 9 at night. Every one of her kids birthdays, I'm there, celebrating with them and you couldn't come by to just sing for five minutes? I was so sick yesterday and I had to pull it together to make it a happy occasion for my son and it just pisses me off how much I care and no one else does. I wouldn't care if it was for me, but it's for my child!! I don't want to be the person that says, "well you didn't make it for DS's birthday, so I really can't be bothered with you", but DH feels that that's the only way to get my message across. He's pissed that they didn't come and cut cake with him on his birthday, but I made him go to their house for her husband's birthday. I don't like the tit for tat game, and I expressed to them yesterday to just come by for only 5 minutes, but if they couldn't make it, I feel like I have to be just as cold.

On a happier note, we were able to find the game that DS wanted for his birthday and we surprised him with it during a trip to Friendly's..

I completely agree with you... I hte when people (especially family) can't call a kid on their birthday, I have lost a friend (the girls aunt) cause both birthdays she said she couldn't come because she had a headache and she couldnt even call them. We haven't spoken in almost 2 years and she still doesnt call the girls for their birthday. Nothing frustrates me more

I hope your son had a great birthday, they don't realize how mean adults can be sometimes... Thank God

They don't realize and that's the good thing. Bad thing, I've been making excuses for them.

Soooo...like most people, I'm trying to lose a few pounds before going on vacation. I've been doing it through diet and my plan is to start running and exercising once I hit a certain weight. I've been doing good, eating healthy, no artificial dyes, flavors, etc, mostly organic and all-natural. Well, DH likes his bedtime snacks. Usually cookies and milk. I make a sheet of the Pillsbury choc chip cookies and the kids will have some and DH will have some and....I have some. I've gained back 3 lbs. No more cookies for me.

Hey I checked out this one... to be honest I think you may not get all the fantasy land rides at the end in, maybe do what you can there and then hit the rest first thing if you have another MK day

This is doable, watch how much time you spend in camp Mickey Minnie. If they are in their costumes they can draw big lines, especially right after Lion king lets out a show they all get in character lines
