Our Co-worker and her Butt Crack

OMG! :rotfl2: I just interpreted this conversation on my job! I am working in a college classroom, interpreting for a Deaf student...who happened to notice another student's thong and half her fanny was hanging out...so the Deaf student polietly goes up to her and tells her...which I had to interpret... :rolleyes1

This is FUNNY! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I would just say "hey Mary, your crack is showing"
I'm not really known for my tact.

Just a thought... while some of the comments are very funny, since this is a workplace issue, it'd probably be best to allow a manager to deal with it. What might seem like an innocent comment could blow up into a sexual harassment suit very easily. This is something best left to management or even HR to deal with.

i agree about letting HR deal with the issue...this is completely innapropriate for the workplace but then again someones crack showing is inappropriate in public at all times!!

I can't believe how often people here say to run to HR or a supervisor and "tattle" on the person. First off, go to the offending person and tell her that her crack is showing. And even if she enjoys showing off her crack it's not appropriate in the workplace. Second, you MAY think she knows what she is doing and is doing it on purpose, but there is a chance she doesn't. I know I have had a couple "crack" episodes when getting into files. I don't think anyone witnessed it, but maybe they did. I am always very careful, but sometimes things happen.

My comment was not to run to HR or management in order to "*******" This can be a sensitive issue. Some people can just laugh off the minor embarrassment; some would understand the "joke". However, in today's workplace with so much emphasis on diversity, avoiding sexual harassment, etc., I would defer something like this to management or HR. I've seem instances of situations just like this getting blown into major lawsuits against the employer... something I'd rather avoid.

I agree completely.

Do what I did last week - we have a woman (51 yrs old) and she wears really low cut tops and spandex bra tops....she'll wear a shirt over it, then she gets hot and takes it off.....it's a daily occurance.....well, last week i looked over at her as she was bending over and i said....

"I am seeing way to much of you. I could honestly go to my grave having never seen what I just saw, and be perfectly content. Will you please cover yourself up!!"
she got pissy, but i didn't back down....she says,
"Well I'm sorry, I'm hot!"
I said
"So turn on your fan, adjust the thermostat, go run cold water on your pulse points, just for god's sake, cover up!!"

she hasn't spoken to me since.... :teeth: nor has she worn the low cut stuff either!! (my boss later thanked me because she didn't know how to tell her!)

good luck!

She probably isn't even aware of it, and it happens to me a bit too, especially with low-riding pants. Politely telling her just so that she's aware of it may prevent it entirely. Why "tattle" on her?

Perhaps the OP works for a plumbing business. You know plumbers and the crack! :rotfl2:

Oh yes I forgot how sensitive we as a society have become. Heaven forbid we tell someone they are exposing themselves. Better to let the whole friggin organization find out about it.

In my workplace, this is exactly what would happen...HR is THE biggest department for gossip in the place...if you "reported" someone for this at 9am, all 1000+ employees would know by lunch.

I hear stuff so fast from HR people and we don't even work in the same building, in fact we are in other parts of town. :rotfl2:

Just a remark on the side:
In Germany we have a term for those tattoos on one's backside, we call them '***-Antlers'.

Edited to add: I knew that this *** would happen, but I guess everyone knows what it stands for ;)

In America it is called the Tramp Stamp.

I am guessing that the DIS-appropriate term would be "Butt-Antlers". ;)

So true!
Can you imagine the humiliation of walking into your supervisors office..."Well hello Mary, I summoned you to my office today to address the fact that you have been exposing your butt crack to everyone in your office....."
I don't see the big deal in having one female tell another female that she's "exposed".

I have a loser cousin who has crack problems! At the last couple of family get togethers I have gotten to see her thong and her tatoo on her lower back. Yuck! Yesterday was no different. I finally got tired of it and decided that someone needed to say something. She bent over yesterday to talk to her two year old DS that my aunt and uncle are pretty much raising and there was her thong again. After she stood up I said, "You know they do sell low-rise thongs. May you should invest in some so that our grandparents don't have to see your underwear everytime you bend down.".
