Hi,

It depends I guess, we all have different tolerance levels.

The last 2 years we have been in August and whilst I was fine my wife and son found it too hot. The problem many of us have is July/August is the natural time to go because of the school holidays, and my wife is a teacher too.

We should have been in Orlando now but we actually moved the holiday to next Easter, purely for Joshua's benefit.
I reckon from 2009 we will be back on a July or August schedule mainly because for Julie teaching wise it's the best time to go.

The majority of people , or at least a fair percentage would not choose August as the ideal time to go, based on weather and crowd levels.

I am not being over-negative hopefully, anytime to go to Florida is a good time, the best advice is not to spend all day at the theme parks - I think it's vital to take a break in-between. Getting to the parks early means you beat the worst of the heat and it's quieter too.

All the restaurants, shops, attractions will be air-conditioned indoors, so be sure to take advantage, plus the usual advice drink plenty of water and wear loose comfortable clothing.

Taking things at a leisurely pace, having plenty of rest days will help too - I am sure you will be fine.

It is hot and humid in August - but manageable if you are careful and pace yourself. Plan so you know what you what you want to see and do in the days so you don't have to wander around in the hear too much.

Get to the parks early.
Use plenty if high factor sunscreen, and re-apply often.
Drink plenty of water.
Wear a hat with a wide brim.
Return to your accommodation at the hottest part of the day for a nice dip in the pool and a siesta, then return to the parks in the cooler evening after the afternoon rain.
Take advantage of airconditioned shops, restaurants and indoor attractions.
Use Fastpass so you aren't waiting in hot lines (some are outside and can get a bit warm).

I'll second that advice. But I'll just add that you should wear a pale coloured hat - my white one kept me cool but DD's navy one just absorbed the heat.

get to the parks before opening and leave by about 1 in the afternoon - then return in the evening...that's what we do to deal with the heat....

yes, august is very hot and extremely humid....

it's not possible for me to say whether it will be too hot for you or not...
as Johnny says, everyone is different...

It was a bit cooler when we arrived Thursday, not what we usually get in August but today has been great back up to almost 100 degrees, I love it, spent an hour in Curious George water area at Universal, cooled lots of dry people:rotfl2:

We had our first August trip to Florida two years ago, usually go in May or October so I was a bit nervous. DH is a sun worshipper, so he was delighted. DD and I managed fine. We only spend a week in orlando, the rest of the time down the beach where we really noticed the difference. The water wasn't cool enough to be refreshing!!

We made sure when doing the parks that we took frozen bottles of water; they soon defrosted and the iced water was lovely. Keep out of the sun, make use of the airconditioning in the shops, restauants and some rides and you will be fine:cool2:

High factor sun cream, specially for you, drink water, water, water, and - most importantly - enjoy your holiday :yay:
