I sympathize with your experience flying with an almost two year old. It is so tempting, they can fly free, yeah but who can hold a ballistic toddler. Our son at 18 months after a two hour delay in boarding the plane spent 2 3/4 hours screaming and rolling in the aisles. Every time the cart would come by we would drag him back into our row by his feet, then he would crawl right out again. The next hour he spent clutching the ankle of the woman seated beside us and sobbing. (Luckily a lovely kindergarten teacher who was very understanding) We were seated one row behind Business Class. Finally when the plane got ready to descend he fell asleep at our feet. The Flight Attendants were coming down the rows doing seat belt checks they were checking left, right, left, left, left, left, right, left... Nobody wanted to know where our son was at that point.
He has flown 26 times and usually gets huge compliments. Curiously though he did get complimented by a grandmotherly type but I'm sure she must have been very hard of hearing to compliment him!
And yes we used to be the single people who looked disparagingly at parents with crying children on planes and thought "Can't they just keep him quiet". This was our payback.
Loved your trip reports! Can't wait to read the May report! Thanks for so greatly describing your experiences at Disney with kids the same ages as mine.
