"Other Rumored Lands" @ DHS

Frankly, I still have in the back of my mind the possibility of Disney, buying Uni outright! Comcast is having it problems in cable, etc. and they are spending money left and right trying to increase attendance and not having great success.......it is not at all impossible Disney could make a deal.

AKK

Comcast has more cash available to buy Disney that vice versa...

Yes. And they are earning some of that money from Universal. I don't know why anyone would think it's not doing well.

Comcast is no doubt gonna have major problems down the road when cable starts to decline...

Or maybe not...

Disney is in trouble because people aren't gonna pay for ESPN...big problem.

Comcast would on the surface suffer the same fate...but what's "after cable"?

Steaming...which is data. Who controls the flow of data?

Right...Comcast. And "internet freedom" that we heard about a few years ago will allow them to charge a fortune in the same competiton free environments.

So instead of a $200 cable/internet bill...you'll pay $300 for just data.

Let freedom ring...Comcast ain't going nowhere.

I think that Comcast will probably have the easiest time converting to new technology. We'll all be paying a fortune when it all changes I imagine.

Comcast did try to before they bought UNI. Many people forget that.

It was widely speculated...and I think they were right...that unsolicited takeover attempt by Roberts was engineered at the behest of Roy Disney as the final nail in eisner's coffin.

I don't know Comcast isn't really looked at for the quality of their cable and internet products, let alone for their customer service

I don't know if it's really considered a "land," but I'm looking forward to seeing what will be done around the Muppets area of the park. I think there is a lot that could be done around that franchise theme-wise and believe that their presence in the park means something.

If rumors are true, Pizza Planet is being reimagined as a Muppet restaurant, which sounds promising. I could also see them bringing Kermit and Miss Piggy back out for meet and greets, as it would be pretty popular.

On July 9th last year it was announced the Joe Rhode, who's currently the creative lead for Disney's Animal Kingdom would be in expanding his role to also oversee "global creative leadership of the Marvel property"

Then August 29th it was announced that the head Marvel films, Kevin Fegie was moved from reporting to Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac Perlmutter to Walt Disney Studios chief Alan Horn, which basically puts Kevin Fegie in the same kind of position at Marvel as Kathellen Kennedy at Lucasfilm and John Lasseter at Walt Disney Animation.

and just a few day later, around Sept 2nd it was announced that Disney's rather lucrative destitution deal for Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks films was going to expire in August 2016. Most of Spieberg's films over the years have been made through Universal... and Universal could certainly make a lot more money with the world wide Distubution rights to DreamWorks films than they could with the theme park rights to Marvel in Orlando

so I kinda get the feeling that if there is going to be a new land at Disney's Hollywood Studios, it will probably be Marvel related

Uh no...

Kevin feige reporting to Horn doesn't mean anything for them getting the theme park rights.

Nor does the Spielberg distribution deal.

The contract for the theme park rights is out there and would likely be a billion dollar deal if done which neither company is currently interested in. WDW is doing just fine without marvel. Universal is currently redoing their Hulk coaster, if they were getting rid of marvel they wouldn't be doing that.

But they're the big dogs that control the biggest geographic area and the hardware/infrastructure.
In some areas of the country Comcast does have a monopoly in regards to cable
Is any cable looked at for their quality or customer service?
True, although I have always had good luck with it (not with Comcast but with Verizon FiOS), I always hear the Comcast horror stories

Sort of reminds me of the ads that Verizon Wireless (I believe it was them) used to run. It was something like "twice as many customer were extremely satisfied with Verzion then AT&T". I am thinking the survey statistics looked like this..

Extremely Satisfied: Verizon: 2, AT&T: 1
Staisfied: Verizon: 0, AT&T: 0
Unsatisfied: Version: 1,435,3231, AT&T: 1,232,443

Here we go again.

No. Nope. No way. Uh-uh. Negative. No siree. It's not happening. Move along, nothing to see here. Just no.

I say thee nay!

The Marvel rights are tied up and Universal makes too much money currently to part with them. The Kevin Feige move was an office politics things because of clashes between him and Perlmutter. It had nothing to do with the parks. Distribution deals expire all the time, that also has nothing to do with the parks.

Yep...

Not to pile on, but this seems to be my morning routine:

1. Get up
2. Eat breakfast
3. Shave
4. State there will be no marvel in domestic Disney parks.
5. Lather, rinse, repeat

The IOA deal at universal is one that both sides are comfortable with and stalemating marvel in us Disney parks. They neither want to end it in Orlando nor would want to cross promote park attractions in the US by putting them in Anaheim.

To be honest...I'm surprised they've gone as far as they have with cruiseline integration.

There's just no angle for Disney to lose free money to take marvel away...even from the biggest competitor. The next best move from what they have now might be to break the deal and make universal strip the characters from their park and then do nothing with it.
It certainly isn't to break the deal and pay, then spend billions building new rides down the street. That's just a silly idea from the start.

Maybe they'll put marvel in the new Disney world they've been building in Texas for the last 20 years? So there's still hope.

Comcast is in a lot more long term danger than Disney. Why? Because they own infrastructure while Disney owns content. When the infrastructure becomes obsolete it has to be replaced at enormous cost. Disney is happy to provide its content in whatever way its customers demand it.

I wouldn't be so sure there. They are really looking into putting marvel in DCA. And they do have marvel meet and greets already.
Some people never get it. Look at Universal. They are builing HP lands at all their parks. This saves them a fortune in design and construction costs. I will never visit their parks is Orlando but am looking forward to visiting HP in Hollywood on my next trip to Disneyland. As for Marvel only time will tell when Comcast desides its not worth the money to constantly update rides that can only be used in Orlando. Further as they build more and more parks around the world the marvel rights in Orlando mean less and less to them.
