Hi All,
We are off on our Honeymoon in Sept 2013 and this will be the first year out that that I can drive over there and so we plan on seeing a lot more of Florida than we have been previously restricted to due to transport.

Can anyone suggest anywhere? Possibly nature reserves etc?

Thanks

I like to drive down to miami for a few days whilst I'm over there, specifically south beach. Night life is especially good.Trip out onto the everglades is also easy from there. Also went swimming with manatees at crystal river, that was a really good day as well

Thanks! Really like the sound of swimming with manatees! Will check that out :)

This may sound strange, but give Kennedy Space centre a go. The drive I lovely from what I can remember and although not technically part of the tour, the natural beauty over there is good (Apart from the MASIVE buildings etc)

We really enjoyed Kennedy this past trip but I would say if you are not interested in the space programme or have young kids it's a long day. We did the full package which included the dine with an astronaut and the up close tour where we got to go inside the vehicle assembly building (varies on what one you get it might be launch pad or firing room)

Really good day our and consumermonkey is right its pretty and there is a lot of wildlife out there. We saw turtles, bald eagles and a gator.

We visited Fantasy of Flight out at Polk City this time, great fun if you like old planes, even the wife and daughter admitted it was actualy good fun.

Try HoneyMoon Island which is over by Tampa. Its a Florida state park and has very nice beach and hiking trails.

You could drive over to Port Canaveral have dinner at Fishlips which is right by the port where the Disney boats are launched. Try to go on a Sunday or Thurs and be there at 4:30 p.m to watch the ships leave.

Two great ideas! I must write them on my list!!

Lots of things to see in florida

There is one thing you did not tell us. Are you looking for day trips, or are you willing to spend a few nights on the road ?

Day trips will get you to KSC, Clearwater, Daytona (see a nascar race ?), Central Florida Zoo, Busch Gardens, Winter Garden, DeLeon State Park, Siesta key beach, ... too many to list.

If you are willing to give it a few more days there are lovely places like
Sanibel/Ft Myers, the everglades, Key West, a few places in Miami (even though I consider Miami a perfect waste of precious florida time)

Animal encounters (swimming with dolphins or manatees) is of course an amazing experience.
Hot air balloon rides are also available in the kissimmee area

so many things ...
