I admit it, i use the same towels for about a week.

There is NO NEED to wash them every time, its just so wasteful. All that energy and water you use for no real reason. Its is not danergous or disgusting. You put the towel on a radiator to dry off, and it ready to use again.

Have none of you heard the expression 'eat a bit of dirt before you die'? A little bit of grime isnt going to kill you, infact it makes you stronger, as you build up imunity. A towel used more than once is not going to make you drop down dead!

Sorry, my 2 green cents!

We use our towels for a week. I have one for my face and hair and another one for my body.

For the showers who use washcloths. Do you prefer to shower or take a bath? I have found the shower preferers are usually soapers and the bath perferers use washcloths when they shower.

To me I feel dirty when I get out of a bath. I rarely take a bath.

I have been showering and washing everywhere on my body with soap since I was an infant- I have yet to get an infection anyplace due to soap. No way would lukewarm water cut it for cleaning!

Ditto. I think the no soap thing just depends on the woman. I've always used soap and no issues here.

I only use my towel one time and then off to the laundry it goes. We have like literally 30 towels in our house for 2 people so I see no need to use it twice. The used ones just pile up in the laundry room and all get washed together. Not like I do 100 loads with just a couple towels in each load. DH uses the same towel for a week. It grosses me out. No idea why, as I know he is clean when he uses it, but it just gives me the heebie jeebies anyway.

Pabs - I prefer a shower and I am a poof user. I never feel clean when I get out of a bath. I only use it for relaxation, then I stand up, turn the shower on and get clean. The tub is relaxing and soothing but I feel like I am sitting in a big pot of human soup :scared:

You know, I have thought this already a couple of times, but now I just have to say it: I'm amazed so many people are grossed out by themselves :)

And for those who wonder: I don't use just lukewarm water, I use Nivea Intimo or Lactacid Femina :)
Every body part smells nice and fresh! ;)

I'm not grossed out by myself. I am however grossed out my my DH's skanky week old towel. And by poop, vomit, etc. This is why I have no children. Well besides the fact that this lousy planet isn't worth bringing them into right now.

I take a bath only when I'm alone in the house and only to relax. After the bath, I have to at least rinse off in the shower if not just soap up and shower. How can you get clean rinsing in a tub full of water full of your dirt and soap?

I just use my soap. I'm allergic to about 99% of man-made fragrances, so I'm unable to use a lot of stuff that everyone else can use.

As for people being grossed out by themselves, it's part of America. In the US, partly because of the religious aspect, we are pretty much taught from day 1 to be ashamed and disgusted of our bodies. Most don't realize it, either.

Oh. And I use fresh towels everytime I shower. They all get washed at the same time.

I've always use a washcloth/poof, but will 'hand wash' if I don't have one handy. It's not a big deal to me.

However, bar soap skeeves me out :scared: Only liquid soap please! If I'm in a hotel I bring my own or just use the new bar and throw it away afterward.

We rotate our towels. Use one for the body, next day it goes on the hair, next day I use it on the counter, then it gets washed!

Sorry, but I don't buy into all the green stuff. I assume that makes me brown.:lmao:

We only use towels once. As soon as I have enough to make a load, I toss them into the machine.

After spending 40 years on this planet, I believe my immunity is just fine. Using dirty towels won't improve it.

I agree. If I take a bath I have to shower after to be clean. I am sitting in the water my butt is in, so it is not clean water to me.

I use my towel a couple times. I make sure it hangs to dry and it's good for a couple showers. Heck, I'm clean when I step out of the shower. But to me, using a used washcloth is equivilent to rinsing and wringing out used toilet paper for reuse. Not to mention that it hangs in the shower all wet.

Oh, and I have a small towel for my hair and a big towel for my body. I use body oil on my skin after a shower, and don't want it in my hair.

You know, I find that really really sad :(

I am very religious and I don't PERSONALLY know anyone who thinks that their body is dirty or a bad thing. (I guess they must exist, but I have never met them) I do however know people, including myself who don't want to wash their butt crack with their hand. LOL!!!

You do realize that whatever may be there, was not that long ago IN your body? ;)

Yes but my hand is on the OUTSIDE of my body. I use it to type, eat, cook, take dishes out of the dishwasher, shake hands, etc etc. And while I know that I can just wash my hand, it STILL doesn't mean that I WANT to stick my hand in my butt. I think it's gross, and it doesn't mean that there is something wrong with me.

Washcloth for face only. I use a scrubbie on everything else.

:lmao: Oh come on. Live a little, be adventurous. Go ahead and stick that hand in your butt!

See thats what amazes me. Think about the amount of energy and water you are wasting being so paranoid?!? Think about how much cotton was grown, picked, washed, pressed, spun, machined, made, packaged and flown across the world for you to get your 30 towels? How much energy that consumes? For you to then keep washing and washing when there really is no need. For goodness sake, you are CLEAN after your shower!

The only towels in our house that only get one use are swim towels that have got soaked and smell like chlorine or gym towels covered in sweat. All others, can have at least a few uses.

I have to say im not the greenest person in the world, but being deliberatly and uncaringly wasteful gets to me.

And for goodness sakes guys, bodily functions are bodily functions. We have dealt with them since man was created, and we seem to have done rather well as a species. Yes increases in hygene an understanding diseases has helped us as a populations, but the amount of OCD tendancies is getting crazy! Poop is poop, it washes off, as does any bodily fluid. I can't understand the big fuss about not touching 'certain areas' when you wash. You are cleaning, therefore cleaning your hand too as you go! :headache:

Ok i will get off my soapbox a much more confused woman as when i entered this thread. :confused3
