Isn't soap self cleaning???

I might try this whole wash cloth thing now, and see if i feel any cleaner, although i will NOT buy a new one every time i shower, i personally think thats a bit wasteful. Shoving it in the wash however is fine.

Im gonna go hit the shower :rolleyes1

Well, originally, it was "wash" with the left hand and eat with the right. That makes the need for the distinction even more evident! :)

Yes, that was it, my mistake! Left for washing, right for eating. :thumbsup2 It's been a long time since my dad and I talked about that!

Why would you buy a new one every time? Does someone do that? I must have missed that post.

*scrolling back to see*

Scrubber here! 'm another who uses a fresh washcloth every time I shower. I don't like poufs/loofahs etc. because how do you clean them??

Because mine is on a long handle (so I can clean my back), I just throw mine out after a while and replace it with a new one. I also soap it up and rinse mine out well after using it.

I don't know that I'd want to use a scrubby for the down-under, either. Ouch! :rotfl:

I occasionally use a poofy-thingymabobber. Usually I use a washcloth and sometimes not. I've read that it's better not scrub down south with soap because it can be irritating. I'm not an expert in this department, however. ;)

Actually, I don't seem to have a problem using my loofah for that. You just don't scrub hard! ;) Oh. And I do use my washcloth for my tushie.

Also, regular soap can be irritating. Most soaps today aren't near as irritating as they used to be.

soooo, Tig, does that mean that I can call you 'dirty foreigner' ;)

Actually, if I ever needed to come up with a new DIS username (not that that would ever happen :rolleyes1 ) I want to come back as 'Dirty Foreigner'. I think that it is just best to set expectations from the start :rotfl:

I don't think people that don't use them are dirty. After all, do people use a washcloth to wash their hands every time they go? ;)

I use my loofah basically to get any dead skin off.

From what I've read about most of the posters, the poofies don't get washed after every use.

Well yes, something has to clean there, but it doesn't mean that anything has to get stuck up there. :rotfl: I'm grossing myself out now. :rotfl2:

And I do usually use a washcloth for that particular area of the body, so I'm not the expert of what exclusive hand washers use.

Oh. I also know several people that wash their washcloths only once a week. They also only wash their towels once a week. They use them over and over until laundry day.

Yes. That's also why in the old days in the Middle East they would cut off the right hand of criminals to mark them as "unclean". Talk about your permanent marking of criminals! :scared1:
These people would be complete outcasts for the rest of their lives and no one would even touch them.

This thread is totally cracking me up. :rotfl: I hope some of you guys get some interesting tags from it.

I said earlier that I use a clean washcloth every time I shower with a bath gel with little scrubbing beads. But I never use washcloths on my face. I use an Aveeno face pad each night, sterile right out of the jar. I used to use a wash cloth, but I've have had too many cases of pink eye to ever have a wash cloth on my face.

Do you mean clean washcloth or a NEW washcloth??

LOL! I was kinda hoping for this one:

I didn't mean any kind of insertion!!! Just in between the cheeks!

Right,

Just got back from my first washcloth shower, and to be honest i can't tell the difference. I feel just as clean as when i soap (but it always is shower gel) or puff.

Sorry guys, the washcloth did nothing! :confused3

Well I'm sure it did Something. It sloughed off more dead skin, bacteria, and dirt than a bare hand ever could. But, whether it "feels" different or not is another story. LOL

P.S. I have nothing against soapers. It makes no difference to me, and do not consider anyone dirty unless they just don't bathe at all!!! :rotfl:

Can't get out of it now! :rotfl2:

I'll use a poofy later if I remember and then post back. :)

I did try and convert my son to using a poofy but it hasn't worked.

.

Thank you! I was just about to make this point.

Sometimes I even use "just my hands" to wash dishware. As long as I've got lots of soap and water, I'm good. The cloth or whatever is for the abrasion needed to remove tenacious stuff that can't be removed without scrubbing. I'm rarely that dirty and I consider it better for my skin to not scrub unless it's needed.

I consider the necessary elements lots of soap and water, the other is just extra IMO.

This thread has me giggling. And I know more about some of you then I EVER wanted to know...

This reminds me of the episode of Friends when Joey didn't use washcloths. Chandler tells Joey, "Think about the last place I wash. And then the first place you wash."

I voted that I use a washcloth, but acually, I use one of those puff things, always in combination with shower gel, and never a wash bar.
Whenever I use the Dove Silk one, I first scrub and then just "soap" with my hands, because it's so soft! I really feel like a sexy model in their commercials

Btw, after reading all the replies, I've got the following information for the ladies: my doctor told me it's not good to wash my private areas with soap or so. Lukewarm water is enough, because otherwise, it might get irritated, and you might even get infections! (from trying to get too clean). If you really insist on using a product, then you have to use a lotion specifically for that area.

To me reusing a towel more than once after a shower is gross- sorry, but after each shower everyone gets a nice freshly washed towel! As for not washing a washclothe after using it- that is just TOTALLY gross! I can't even use those puffy things because after using it even if it is clean it just hangs there in the damp shower area growing things on it!

I have been showering and washing everywhere on my body with soap since I was an infant- I have yet to get an infection anyplace due to soap. No way would lukewarm water cut it for cleaning!

What she said!
There were girls in jr. high gym class who must have ascribed to the "lukewarm water" trend and EVERYONE knew it. :scared:
