Ot -- Trace Adkins

The only CW song that tears me up every time is Tim McGraw's "Please Don't Take the Girl".

I have to say, add me to the list of criers. I LOVE Trace's new song, it brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it.
I loved him on Celeb Apprentice, I think he is a bit of a hottie!!!!

I always gripe when Trace comes out with a new CD! I can't maintain mascara or eyeliner in it's appropriate place on my face for the run of the first release!! Dang tear-jerkers!! Have to wait for some "Honkytonk Badonkadonk" type song to come around before I can turn the radio back on!

BTW, somebody else has a real sweetheart of a song called "stealing Cindarella" that I actually had to pull off the side of the road cause I was crying so hard. My girls are 8 and 9 and I just relate so much to this stuff! Well, ok, I do kinda have a crying problem, maybe.

OMG, I cried like a baby the first time I heard that!

ITA!!! Wow, I didn't know who he was before but I have a huge crush on him now - killer smile. :lovestruc I was ticked he didn't win because he just handled himself so well. Love the BSB lines - bet they weren't too happy though!

His new song was so sweet, I think even DH was tearing up at that one. I want to dl his new one too & might even ask for his CD for my bday, love his voice! I don't normally like country might cross over for him.

Trace is awesome!! I've seen him in concert a few times!!

I highly suggest if you want to get into Country music that you check out Brad Paisley www.bradpaisley.com!! I go to several of his concerts each year. His shows are also very affordable and family friendly. He's got some great upbeat songs with his witty sense of humor but he has some amazing slow songs that really get to you. Also, someone mentioned the "Stealing Cinderella" song. That's by Chuck Wicks, and he actually opened up for Brad at a few shows and he will once again be one of Brad's opening acts for this upcoming Summer Tour.

I checked out Brad Paisley's website. No concert what-so-ever in Colorado. :confused3

I "fell" for trace adkins too because of the Celebrity Apprentice ......there was just something about him..............

I Never ever heard of Trace beforehand. And I don't care much for country music. Now I'll recognize his voice anywhere.

There was a one hour special on the country channel about his life and of course I watched it. Trace sings another song about "one hot mama".....just loved it.

Did anyone else think DT was patronizing to Trace at the end? "Well, you got a number 1 song out of it". Yeah, like Trace was not putting out hits before The Apprentice came along. And why didn't Trace defend himself properly- I wanted to scream at the TV. "Mr Trump- If you think a good apprentice is someone who is impossible to work with, but can raise alot of money by calling on his personal friends with deep pockets, then Piece is your man. If you think a good apprentice is someone who inspires his team to want to work by treating them respectfully and can still raise a good amount of money, I'm your man. Eventually Piece is going to run out of pockets to raid, and at that point he will be pretty much useless."

DT's comments to Trace at the end made me think I will not watch next season. Of course I'm sure I will be over it by then:laughing: .

For those just now checking out Trace, try "Every Light in the House Is On" for a good tear jerker, "Swing" is just a good fun song and "Songs About Me" for a great country song- this is the song that turned me on to Trace. They are all available on Yahoo music.

I agree with the PP who posted "Don't Take the Girl"- first country song that reduced me to a sniveling mess.

And my all time recommendation for non- country fans- "Alabama" by Cross Canadian Ragweed- even country hatin' DBF finds this song acceptable "for country music". Also on Yahoo music.

The first Trace song I ever owned was a few years ago, called "Then they do" ... it was about kids growing up. My kids and I used to sing it and dance around the kitchen ... they were about 3 and 6 at the time. :goodvibes

I think the funniest part of Celeb Apprentice was when trace was talking about the BSB's, and all of their wining, and then how "I once did a concert in extreme abdominal pain. I went from the concert to the emergeny room, where they removed 18 inches of my colon ... THAT NIGHT." :worship: Sorry about your lack of wheat-germ grass, BSB's. ;)

I thought DT's son was making a good point when he asked Piers if he thinks he could have made more money than anyone else if he HADN't had his Rolodex. I was hoping DT would agree with that and hire Trace.

has anyone read his book? is it any good?
i just went to you tube, wow, he looks really good in his videos.

I have his book and read it. You have to brace yourself, since it is more of "ramblings of Trace Adkins along intwinde with my life story". Some very interesting things have happened to him in his life though. Things you don't see coming. Saw him in concert in January and he had the giggles the whole show, it was too funny!

another song you all might like is Rodney Atkins "Watching You"

Driving through town just my boy and me
With a happy meal in his booster seat
Knowing that he couldn't have the toy
Till his nuggets were gone
A green traffic light turned straight to red
I hit my brakes and mumbled under my breath
His fries went a flying and his orange drink covered his lap
Well then my four year old said a four letter word
That started with "s" and I was concerned
So I said son now now where did you learn to talk like that

[Chorus one]

He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
We got cowboy boots and camo pants
Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad
I wanna do everything you do
So I've been watching you

We got back home and I went to the barn
I bowed my head and I prayed real hard
Said Lord please help me help my stupid self
Then this side of bedtime later that night
Turning on my son's Scooby Doo nightlight
He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees
He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands
And spoke to God like he was talking to a friend
And I said son now where'd you learn to pray like that

[Chorus two]

He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
We like fixing things and holding mama's hand
Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad
I wanna do everything you do
So I've been watching you

[Bridge]

With tears in my eyes I wrapped him in a hug
Said my little bear is growing up
He said but when I'm big I'll still know what to do

[Chorus three]

Cause I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
By then I'll be as strong as superman
We'll be just alike, hey won't we dad
When I can do everything you do
Cause I've been watching you

OK, now what is BSB that Trace referred to?

What does BSB mean?

I believe BSB is short for Back Street Boys. They were very obnoxious on the show.....poor Trace was trying his hardest not to lose his patients. :lmao:

I'm thinking he meant B--- S--- Boys! The Wheatgrass juice sent him over the edge.:lmao:

I watched all of the Celebrity Apprentice episodes, and Trace was one of my favorite contestants. In the end though, I'm glad that Piers won. :)

Well, since we're posting favorite lyrics :teeth:, here are a couple from Brad Paisley - the aforementioned "Online"
I work down at the Pizza Pit
And I drive an old Hyundai
I still live with my mom and dad
I'm 5 foot 3 and overweight
I'm a scifi fanatic
A mild asthmatic
And I've never been to second base
But there's whole ‘nother me
That you need to see
Go checkout MySpace

'Cause online I'm out in Hollywood
I'm 6 foot 5 and I look damn good
I drive a Maserati
I'm a black-belt in karate
And I love a good glass of wine
It turns girls on that I’m mysterious
I tell them I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I’m so much cooler online
So much cooler online

When I get home I kiss my mom
And she fixes me a snack
And I head down to my basement bedroom
And fire up my Mac
In real life the only time I’ve ever even been to L.A
Is when I got the chance with the marching band
To play tuba in the Rose Parade

Online I live in Malibu
I pose for Calvin Klein, I've been in GQ
I'm single and I'm rich
And I've got a set of six pack abs that would blow your mind
It turns girls on that I’m mysterious
I tell them I don't want nothing serious
'Cause even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I’m so much cooler online
Yeah, I'm cooler online

When you got my kind of stats
It’s hard to get a date
Let alone a real girlfriend
But I grow another foot and I lose a bunch of weight
Every time I login

Online
I’m out in Hollywood
I’m 6 foot 5 and I look damn good
Even on a slow day
I could have a three way
Chat with two women at one time
I’m so much cooler online
Yeah, I’m cooler online
I’m so much cooler online
Yeah, I’m cooler online

Yeah, I’m cooler online

Yeah, I’ll see ya online

And "Letter to Me"
If I could write a letter to me
And send it back in time to myself at 17
First I'd prove it's me by saying look under your bed
There's a Skoal can and a Playboy no one else would know you hid
And then I'd say I know it's tough
When you break up after seven months
And yeah I know you really liked her and it just don't seem fair
All I can say is pain like that is fast and it's rare

And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it's hard to see past Friday night
She wasn't right for you
And still you feel like there's a knife sticking out of your back
And you're wondering if you'll survive
You'll make it through this and you'll see
You're still around to write this letter to me

At the stop sign at Tomlinson and Eighth
Always stop completely don't just tap your breaks
And when you get a date with Bridgett make sure the tank is full
On second thought forget it that one turns out kinda cool
Each and every time you have a fight
Just assume you're wrong and dad is right
And you should really thank Mrs. Brinkman
She spent so much extra time
It's like she sees the diamond underneath
And she's polishin' you 'til you shine

And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it's hard to see past Friday night
Tonight's the bonfire rally
But you're staying home instead because if you fail Algebra
Mom and dad will kill you dead
Trust me you'll squeak by and get a C
And you're still around to write this letter to me

You've got so much up ahead
You'll make new friends
You should see your kids and wife
And I'd end by saying have no fear
These are nowhere near the best years of your life

I guess I'll see you in the mirror
When you're a grown man
P.S. go hug Aunt Rita every chance you can

And oh you got so much going for you going right
But I know at 17 it's hard to see past Friday night
I wish you'd study Spanish
I wish you'd take a typing class
I wish you wouldn't worry, let it be
I'd say have a little faith and you'll see

If I could write a letter to me
To me

Well the Buckaroo song was giving me coldchills and I was tearing up again, then I read Online and got tickled again. I think that's what listening to C&W is all about. They're like little mini movies that you can picture yourself in. Actually,

Actually, one of Trace's songs is called "songs about me" and that's how I feel about a lot of his songs! They're about being a parent, watching your kids grow up and hoping it doesn't happen too fast. Really are songs about me!!

BTW has anyone researched his charity?? What was the name of it?? One of Lizzie's best friends at school has a peanut allergy and she has to remind me not to send anything with peanut putter so she doesn't accidentally cause him to have a reaction. I feel about 1 inch tall when my 8 year old remembers and I don't!!

Pirates mom ---

Food Allergy and Anaphalphis (sp?) Network -- it's a non-profit organization. My 11 year old used to participate with them yeas ago. So glad he outgrew most of his allergies.

I think the link is faan.org

Do you know the website?? I realize I could probably google it, but if you post it, maybe more of us will look at it!! (Being a good do-bee here!)

If you go to www.hulu.com you can watch the Celebrity Apprentice shows for free. They may even have that segment as a seperate clip. A lot of the shows on hulu are both in their entirety as well as short clips.

Thanks!! I'll have to try to find that clip!

Yes, I love "Stealing Cinderella" too...another Diser has met the singer...his name is Chuck Wicks and she says that he is a sweetheart!!

While we're posting lyrics of good country songs that make you cry here is one by Heartland called "I Loved Her First"

Look at the two of you dancing that way
Lost in the moment and each others face
So much in love your alone in this place
Like there's nobody else in the world
I was enough for her not long ago
I was her number one
She told me so
And she still means the world to me
Just so you know
So be careful when you hold my girl
Time changes everything
Life must go on
And I'm not gonna stand in your way

But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it still hard to give her away
I loved her first

How could that beautiful women with you
Be the same freckle face kid that I knew
The one that I read all those fairy tales to
And tucked into bed all those nights
And I knew the first time I saw you with her
It was only a matter of time

But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But its still hard to give her away
I loved her first

From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
Someday you might know what I'm going through
When a miracle smiles up at you
I loved her first
