Hi all,

My DD is in 1st grade and the whole 1st grade (4 classes) is doing a postcard project. Their goal is to collect postcards from all across the United States as well as across the World. When they receive the postcards in the mail, they "travel" to each state and country and learn more about the place it came from.

If you would like to help out by sending a postcard, I know they would really appreciate it! :goodvibes The address to send them to is:

Rachel Eckleberry
c/o Mrs. Martha Tankersley
Long Cane Elementary School
238 Long Cane Road
LaGrange, GA 30240

Thanks! :flower3:

I'm sending one out today from Atlantic City at the beautiful Jersey Shore. :goodvibes Hope your DD enjoys her project. I remember when my kids had Flat Stanley and we sent him all over the country to friends and relatives for photo ops. It really made it exciting for the kids.

P.S. I had to add...my DD's name is Rachel too. :)

THANK YOU!!! :flower3: I will definitely let you know when it arrives. They keep the ones they've received in plastic sleeves out in the hallway along side a huge world map. They place a sticker on the map to show where the country is. It's pretty cool to see where all they come from!

Thanks to you too! :flower3: We are partial to the name!

A big THANK YOU!!! to all who sent in postcards. The class has enjoyed getting them from everyone. Dis'ers are great, they've gotten some from all over, including overseas! :goodvibes

:thanks: :disrocks:

Is this project over or is it ongoing? I just saw this post today. Please let me know as I could send one form the Bahamas.

Your very welcome. I remember what those school projects were like with my kids. Anyway, glad my postcard arrived and helped your DD out. :goodvibes

It is ongoing. I don't think they have one from the Bahamas yet, so that would be wonderful if you could do that! :thanks: I think their goal is to have everything represented by the 100th day of school which is sometime in January I think. Even though that may be their goal, they keep the maps/postcards up the whole year so it's never too late. Thanks again!

I wish I'd seen this thread earlier... my wife just got back from 10 days in Rwanda. If this project is still ongoing, I can have her contact her tour guide (they are still keeping in touch) and have a postcard sent from Kigali.

Perhaps if you could list what states are needed in the US, (or if he list is shorter - which ones are collected) then all the great DIS people can try to get them covered??

That would be so cool! I'm sure they don't have one from there... :teacher:

Now that's a good idea. I'll try to get a list early next week. :goodvibes

It will take about a month to get there (Bahamian system is slower than slow), but I PROMISE to have it in the mail on Monday!!!

I'll send one out :) I am in eastern PA. I'll be in Hershey tomorrow, so i can get a few, Hershey Park, Amish country, and I am sure I have some Philly ones here at the house. If you are missing any states, let me know I have family and friends all over! lol

This must be a Georgia thing. I got an email from my cousin for his daughter that goes to seddle bridge elementary- too funny.

A postcard from the Bahamas was put in the mail today. Our mail system is beyond slow (I think the snail travels backwards :lmao: ) so it could take up to a month before it reaches the school.

I was all set to send one, but then saw you were in LaGrange! I don't think a card from Columbus, Georgia would be all that exotic! Good luck though!

My son is doing this in Kindergarten, so I know how it is. I will see what I can find and send tomorrow from the Lone Star State.

Thanks! I'll be on the lookout for it. :)

 I don't know... Columbus has quite a bit of shopping and restaurants that we don't have... :rotfl: :lmao:

Thanks! If you'll PM me your son's info, I'll send something his way as well. :thumbsup2
