Anyone else's kids into Rainbow Loom? DD11 and her friends have been obsessed with making bracelets, necklaces, key chains, and other neat creations with this rubber band kit for several months now and DD6 has joined the craze. They love swapping their creations with friends and also giving them away as gifts. I haven't seen a fad quite like this in awhile because it seems like the demand has highly exceeded the supply in our area. Various places including our local library hold Rainbow Loom classes and there are also tutorials on You Tube. One of the reasons I support it is because it inspires creative thinking and sharing. :goodvibes

Yes my dd9 discovered them a couple of weeks ago. We have bracelets all over the house - I've even seen ds12 make a couple on his favorite football teams colors.

Had to Google "Rainbow loom" never heard of them, neither has dd. May not have made its way down here yet.

We waited in line for an hour for refills...crazy!!!

We waited in line for an hour for refills...crazy!!!

That has been our experience out my way because only a couple retailers around here sell them. Getting the starter kit is one thing, but the demand for the refills is another story! :crazy2: It is not uncommon to have to go an hour across town or wait in long lines to buy the refills because of the demand. We looked on Ebay for the refills too but DD11 said most of them being sold on Ebay aren't legitimate Rainbow Loom refills because she could tell they weren't the right size

Dd12 got one a year ago (my sister lives in the midwest, where they started). It didn't get big here until the summer, and now it starts and stops. Hate all of these darn bracelets - lol! Yes, they get ideas from youtube.

Wow...it sounds like this is a brand new fad wheresome of you live! LOL

My husband is from Chicago, and moved to mid-Michigan when he was a teen (where I met him). He used to always tease us in Michigan because everything was slightly behind, trend-wise, than Chicago. I never really believed him until we moved here a couple years ago and DS13 and DD9 started to know new music and trends before their Michigan cousins

So, Rainbow Loom has been hot around here (Chicago Suburbs) since last winter/spring and kind of peaked in the summer. It's actually kind of on it's way out. I was going to get DD a carrier for Christmas, but she really never even really breaks the loom out anymore.

These things come and go so fast!!!

Huge where we live right now in the Detroit,mi area. Both of my sons and niece got one for Christmas.. We make a few bracelets a day!!!

Was popular here over the summer and first few months of school. Now it has died out and not popular anymore. Fad just like silly bands.

They really became popular around here at the beginning of the school year. I waited and got them the looms, bands and storage cases for Christmas (I think they were equally as excited about those as the Disney trip LOL ) They still play with them...but I can't wait for the day they are bored with them! Tiny little bands EVERYWHERE! I thought getting the cases would help, not so much

DD8 got one from my sister for Christmas. She wasn't overly enthrall we at first, but is now full on obsessed with the thing. DW bought refills from Amazon, and I got some from Michaels.

I started this thread when the Rainbow Loom craze was at its peak in our area. My girls have multiple small bins filled with bracelets/creations they've made and they still enjoy making them every now and then; but I am definitely not waiting in lines for refills like I did last summer ;) They sell refills everywhere now, even at the dollar stores. The hype has cooled down quite a bit out my way.
