They've been doing tests today and have been waiting for the hematologist to show up this evening. They did rule out leukemia by doing a blood marrow test, but think it may be a blood disorder involving the spleen. At this point however, they are going to treat her with steroids until they have a definite answer.
This definitely comes at a bad time here at the holidays, and does put a strain on her family. If you guys would remember us we'd really appreciate it.

She will have to go to a local cancer center to have them check it regularly for her. However, she does have some kind of warning system in the bruises that popped up all at once. So hopefully that will be a clue for any future problems.
Lucky gal!
Our pastor was kidding her on getting out of shopping this year.
The kid is really growing up.
LuvN~Travel said:One side note here: Our daughter was born with birth defects and has spent many long days in the hospital over the years, and many hours in the doctors' offices. We saw a very mature side of her tonight after we left. I heard her sniffling behind us, and we asked what was wrong. Though she hadn't shown any sign of tears while in my sister's room this evening, she now was upset. She told us that she was feeling guilty because her aunt was in the hospital and not her! Wow, your kids will really shock you sometimes. The kid is really growing up.

Hope everyone has fun playing VMK tonight,
Kim
Wow. How old is she? That was a very unselfish, sweet thing to say. I would have cried if my daughter said something like that. Sound likes she is, and will grow up to be even more of, a wonderful person!
