I'm mere days away from our trip and I have what I think is my final questions for those of you who are familiar with London..

We're going to be in London for ~36 hours and I've been able to pick up that Oyster cards are the most convenient option for tourists to get around on the tube. My question is this: Do I need to buy an Oyster card for both myself and my husband - or can we both use the same card?

Thanks Again!

You'll need one oyster card each.

Personally I don't know how convenient they are from a tourist point of view unless they've changed a little - I seem to remember there's a form to fill out and so on.

An alternative option that's almost as easy (but a little more expensive) is travelcard - they actually let you travel on more transport than the oyster card does as they're valid on tube, bus, docklands light railway and also mainline trains within London. Travelcards are a little more expensive though, but you can buy them from a ticket machine or window without having to fill out any forms.

You dont need to fill in a form for an oyster card - you just need to queue at a tube ticket booth and request one. I think they cost £2. You then load them on with money - and they will always be cheaper than a travel card. Oh on oysters you can also use them on the buses and DLR.

This website will give you all the up to date details, and will help you work out how much you will need to top you card up with http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ :)

The Oyster card costs £3, all you need to do is go to any tube station fill in the form and load the card. It's a lot cheaper that way. You'll get your £3 back if you return the card to any tube station.

And yes, you'll need two Oyster cards, 2 people can't use the same one!
