OT: Only Children - Need Input

:goodvibes I have only read the OP's first post but I am an only child and will happy to share my views. Please know there is no judgment on my part whatever you decide, I am just sharing my experiences as an only.

I was never the type of girl who knew I'd get married and have kids but I did know that if I ever had children, I would have/raise/adopt more than one.

I had a good childhood. My parents were nuts but it was still pretty good. We were affluent and I was able to do a lot of things and have a lot of things. The problem was that I had no one to share them with. I missed learning the skills that siblings learn. Even having very close cousins who I saw daily, there were still things I missed and didn't learn until later in life. I promised myself that I would have/raise/adopt more than one child.

I also wish I had a sibling now to share the responsibility of aging parents. It's a tough and painful road to walk alone. Even though my DH is supportive, they are my responsibility. My father suffered a major stroke and I would never wish any of the current outcome on even my worst enemy. It would be comforting to have a sibling for support, to really understand what I am going through.

To watch my children interact and grow together is more rewarding than I could ever imagine. It's beyond heartwarming. I know that even if something happens to me and their dad, they've got each other and there is great comfort in that.

Whatever you decide, good luck! :goodvibes
