OT: Is your DD/DS starting kindergarten?

My DD5 starts all day kindergarten tomorrow. She attended 4 year old preschool in the same building, but her morning routine will be different this year - thanks to outlandish daycare prices -- but that's another topic...:sad2:

I dropped off her school supplies today (so she doesn't fall over backwards tomorrow with a heavy backpack). Walking the hallway of the school I felt a little misty-eyed. My first born will be in kindergarten! Wow. I bet I'll be a wreck after getting her going at school tomorrow.

Last year I lost it after putting her on the bus at daycare. She was so excited until she saw the bus pull up. She got scared and didn't want to get on. She had the most frightened little face sitting in the front row of her bus. Man! I still get a little misty eyed just recalling that memory!

Okay - time to stop thinking about this and watch our little Shawn Johnson win some gold!!!

Good luck to all the other mommies out there!

My DS started school last Thursday and has been doing great until TODAY!
We got a note home that he didnt finish class work, talked to much and SMACKED another child!!!!

OMG, I about died.. we are now those parents that people talk about :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We had a serious talk with him, he lost all tv, computer and video game rights this evening. If he has a better day tomorrow then he can earn a right back!

UGHH!

I was very sad about him being gone all day and cried alot the weeks up to the first day but have gotten with the " program" lol. Its nice having some free time.
Now I hope I can get him to get with the " program " very quickly lol!

Its been a long day!

It was hard for me when my oldest started K. I was working 3-11 shift at the time and I had to change jobs and a pay cut to work day shift so that I could see him.

DD, 4, will be starting all-day montessori preschool on 8/25. She is ready to learn. The program is relatively new at our school, only 2 years old. I don't know much about it.

It was just me who felt this way. DDprincess: (5 in September) will be starting Kindergarten after Labor Day... and I have been dreading this day for the past two years. She is very excited to go and loved going there to see the classroom and meet the teacher. She is my first and only child, and has been with me since the day she was born..and I'm very nervous. I was a pre-k teacher myself before she was born, and still can't believe that she is now going to leave the nest to "fly solo". I will now be one of those moms who I used to console on the first day.:scared: The good news is she will only be there 1/2 day, so I won't worry or miss her so much. So from one worried mom to all of you others....Good Luck!:grouphug:

We just got back from visiting DS's K class. They start school next week-8/27I'm so excited for him, he is so ready!

Thanks again to everyone for sharing their thoughts! I am sure I will still be a mess - thank goodness for dark sunglasses!

:grouphug: Hugs to everyone that has survived ther first day so far and to the rest of us over the next two weeks as we wait for the first day to get here! To those of you that are excited for the first day - good for you! :thumbsup2

My baby starts on the 27th :sad1: But at the beginning of the month she went to 2 weeks of SCAMP and loved it, so I know she will do just fine.

My baby starts full day pre-K 8/27. She has been in a family daycare (with my aunt) since she was 2mths old. Now at 3 1/2 she is excited to try soething new. I told her on Friday she would be going to school soon and she keeps walking around the house with her notebook and Ariel pencil telling me she is "doing her homework". :rotfl:

How cute is that? I am gonna cry when I bring her for her first day....I hope it gets easier. :sad2:

My DS starts Kgarten on Sept 3rd and I'm sad. He is my baby boy, I'm not ready for him to be in school. He goes to daycare now and will join my DD already at school.

I cried the day I signed DD up for school but not on her first day. I cry every year on both their birthdays too!

Of course, now I'm starting to cry on my own birthday.

Emma is starting Kindergarten on Monday. She is ready for it. She gets dropped off and picked up by me at daycare. She will be tired I am sure.
