OT- help naming daughter!OT update 98 and now 170!

DD10 has a friend named Amelia, but pronounced Ah-muh-lee-uh. I think it's awesome, tried to put it on the list but DH vetoed it.

At this point we are still undecided. Our top picks currently are Savannah, Sierra, Summer, Layla, Reese, Rose, and Faith. I just want it to be just as different as Scarlett, but not too different and not boring either! Scarlett and Jane just wouldn't be a good match! Any more thoughts on new names or any names we have said? Thanks again everyone!!

Savannah is lovely ~ but too Gone with the Wind since you already have a Scarlett in my opinion.

I like Summer, Reese *kinda guyish to me* and Rose. I really like Scarlett and Summer together.

Along the lines of Summer, my name is Spring.... I've always loved it, because it is more unusual than Summer, and has a happy, peppy sound to it.

Good luck on choosing a name and congrats on your growing family!

I like Savannah, Sierra and Summer. If you like those, I have a friend whose daughter's name is Sienna and I think that is pretty and a bit different.

I have a niece named Seriphina - we call her Seri for short and I think that is pretty too.

(Hmm, all "S" names - don't know if you want to go with that pattern...)

Our daughter's name is Juliette, and I love old fashioned unique names. Our top two right now are Adelyn and Charlotte. I love Madelyn, but DF hates it, though he likes dropping the "M" and making it Adelyn, go figure, lol.

I will say, we named our dd an hour before she was born. I dreamed up the name after finally getting my epidural. Juliette wasn't on any of our lists, we hadn't even talked about it. But, the name popped up in my dream in cursive writing. It's like she named herself.

My daughter's name is Gracie Jane. I had the name Gracie picked out for years. She's only my first so if I have another girl I have absolutely no clue what I would name her.

Wow...thanks so much everyone for all your ideas! The funny thing about naming our daughter Scarlett is we had never seen Gone with the Wind, we finally watched it when whe was about 2 years old! We really just loved the name, but I have to admit the movie was amazing too!

DD and I like the names Scarlett and Savannah together. Of all your top picks I like Savannah and Sierra the best.

Everytime I hear the name Violet, I think of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. "Violet, you're turning violet, Violet!" :rotfl: One of my all-time favorite movies. :)

When you name a child you try and think of all the nicknames and try to choose a name that people will not make fun of. I thought I had it covered, when I named my son Maxwell, we called him Max. He came home in 6th grade telling me I named him the worst possible name. Apparently the name Max, was changed to Maxipad, to Tampon Head. He is now an adult and likes his name.

My daughters name is Lila Rose and I still love it. Simple, yet not common. She was almost a Gabriele, my husband liked then didn't like the name Lila Rose. I gave up on names then and waited to give birth and him to change his mind. He said Lila reminded him too much if the word lie, huh? Well it became a self fulfilled prophecy. After two days in the hospital and she still didn't have a name, I said ok to Gabriele, I didn't like it, but I wanted her to have a name. My DH knew I didn't like and made a bargain with me. If I agreed to have one more child we would name her Lila Rose. I said deal and had no intention of having anymore children, I lied.... We are done having children ( she has an older brother) and she has the name I wanted.

I like Summer! My daughter's name is Anya Grace. If we ever had another, we both like Keelin Irish. Like other posters have said, everyone will have an opinion, just make sure you like it!:thumbsup2 Good luck!

Our top picks currently are Savannah, Sierra, Summer, Layla, Reese, Rose, and Faith.
My pick of the bunch would be Sierra. My DD has a swim coach named Sierra and she's wonderful :). Sierra starts with the same letter as Scarlett and it can stand along side of it equally. Scarlett is a very strong name and I think Summer, Rose and Faith are too gentle and flowing. I think Savannah and Scarlett would be too "southern belle matchy-matchy" and I don't personally like themed names. I had a friend named Layla and she hated it because of the song and Reese just doesn't ring my bells.

Be sure to check the popularity out before you decide on something if that's important to you. For example Layla was at the #31 spot in 2012.

Love the name Juliette. :goodvibes

Some of the not popular but pretty names around my area are:
Sabrina (Bree for short)
Ingrid
Lola
Arlana
Edith
Evalyn
Eleanor (Ellie or Nora for short)

Good luck picking a name!

Have you ever seen the Nicolas Cage skit on SNL where they are picking a baby name...hilarious! :rotfl2:
