The Mods over there are saying HQ is aware...it's system wide and they're working on it. Hope they fix it soon...haven't gotten a question in almost 45 minutes!! So much for 120 questions by 3am!!

No kidding! I'm like wth? I have been on for over 10 minutes and not a single query. Yet before the contest start time I was getting them non stop. Figures.

Go to the knowledgebase and in the search box type "black." It'll pop right up in the search listing.

Top guides are announced on Thursday's about noon. There will be a blog entry.

ETA: i got my first query after being logged in 36 minutes, and i've gotten one more since, for a total of 2 in 42 minutes.

I'm concerned that I won't make top guide this week because I'm hardly getting any questions. First I was complaining that I couldn't say no to a question, and now I'm not getting any. I guess that's what I get for complaining.

For those who are asking about the lack of recent history, when you get a question that has "Comment" in front of it and/or you think it comes from a previous question, you're supposed to answer it with: Due to a system issue, I am unable to see your recent history today. Please reply with your full question so we may answer it.

I really feel like I'm working blindly without the history! I can't tell you how much that history helped me form my answers.

Oh, and I'm still getting joke and other easy queries.

You have to remove the word 'today' from that message, otherwise it doesn't fit. Any question you get that obviously needs the previous history you use the ChaCha.com website as your source and tell them "Due to a system issue, I am unable to see your recent history. Please respond back with your full question so we may answer it." I love those questions because they only take me about 10 seconds to answer. That makes up for the stupid ones that take me 10 minutes!!! Not that I don't want to search, I've actually learned quite a bit by doing ChaCha.

I've been ChaCha'ing since July 20; I'm not an expert by anyone's definition but feel like I've got things figured out, at least right now, with the current state of everything. I made $240 my first month, which was 27 days, so almost $9/day. My goal is $300/month, or about $10/day. I started at .20/msg and have stayed there ever since. I try and do 50-60 questions per day, and I try to do them all during the day while my kids are at school and not at night; I just don't like those late-night questions! Especially Friday & Saturday night!! EEEWWW!!

I didn't do any yesterday, so I did 70 today; I'm at 2000 total. There are some really good, helpful posts on the forum, especially the ones by ClaytonJamesJenkins. He has posted some very helpful tutorials on Youtube as well. They have helped me speed up my searches quite a bit. My average time for today was 2 minutes 15 seconds, so that's about 26 questions/hour. I would like to get to at least 30/hour, so that's $6/hour.

The 2 best things that I've added to Firefox are the Clippings add-on and Google Desktop.

I hope that helps someone. I'm just hoping that ChaCha isn't a flash-in-the-pan company and they continue to pay us like they're supposed to.

Actually I'm total grammar geek, so I changed it to "Please reply with your full question" because "respond back" is redundant. It drove me a little nuts when I saw it, but I wasn't going to say anything about it.

I don't use anything else but the Google Desktop application; what it does is allow you to do a google search without clicking open a new window and typing in what you are searching for. You just hit the CTRL key twice, a search box opens up in the middle of your browser (on top of it) you type in what you're searching for (I usually copy it from the question, then paste it in the box) then hit enter. It opens a window with the search results. If you're looking for a definition, you type in "define <word>" where <word> is the definition you're looking for. I didn't install any of the other Google desktop applications, that's the only one I wanted. You can also type in "define:<word>" but it still gives you a results page and you still have to click on one to get your source, since we aren't supposed to source a SERP (search engine results page).

And I LOVE clippings. With 2 keystrokes, I can enter an entire phrase, like "Thanks for using ChaCha!" or "Due to a system issue, I am unable to see your recent history. Please respond back with your full question so we may answer it." That right there has saved me precious seconds on my time. You give each a title, then you enter what you want it to say. I also put a number in the title so I know exactly how many characters the phrase is!! So easy!!!
