Hi, I know this is off topic, but I'm getting desperate here. I have a 7 year old son and live in RI. He has PDD, OCD, ADHD and a mood disorder. For the past few weeks he has "been coming unraveled" as I would say, small things set him off, he's biting everything and even pulled two slightly loose teeth out yesterdsay.

MY GOAL IS TO KEEP HIM OUT OF THE HOSPITAL

I've tried now for three weeks working with his "worker" at his mental health agency and she has been less than informative. SHe has given me the names of three programs and left me to follow up. Turns out two of them (so far) only accept kids over 13 yrs.

Does anyone in RI have any information on programs that would be available? I've called his insurance company-since they ultimately pay the bill= and they are looking into options, just wanted some advice.

Thank you for letting me vent a little!

I don't live in RI, but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. We just moved to Iowa and I had a hard time getting my DS8 started with the right program. Thankfully, we have an autism support team in the school system and we are getting things under sontrol. Does his school have any information for you?

Well, I don't have much to offer, but does Bradley have a referral service? Maybe they know of some programs. Hang in there.

I think your best resource is have the IEP team meet and discuss your options.

You shouldn't be "left alone" by your worker, that's their job. Ask to speak to a supervisor if you aren't getting anywhere.

Sending hugs! I know this is hard. My DD9 has ADHD, sensory issues, Asperger's, fine motor delays, and anxiety issues. We went through similar issues, but hers escalated to the point of major meltdowns, which ultimately resulted in our putting her on Prozac. It's not perfect, but it sure is a whole lot better. I used to worry a lot about suicidal tendencies as she would get older, but we don't worry as much as we used to. Have you tried a psychologist or psychiatrist? Good luck! pixiedust:

I would also suggest seeking help from a psychiatrist or psychologist. I hope everything works out for you! :)

Thank you for everyone who read and offered support. He is on a ton of meds (prozac, zyprexa and ritilan). He does have a "physiclogist" and a CIS worker. They work in the same center and aren't very helpful.

So I took matters into my own hands and went to the people who pay the billsp :rotfl: his insurance company.

They refered me to an intensive HOME BASED therapy service. They are coming out today and hopefully can offer me something more than his current provider does.

How many people here change their providers? This will be the 3rd time for various reasons that I've changed providers and I'm starting to:

1. run out of providers (Were in a pretty small State); and
2. Think that they are going to think that I'm the one with "issues" :rotfl:
