OT-Birthday Party Questions (need advice)

DS will be 3 in July and we are having his Birthday Party at a local amusement park (kind of like a miniature Six Flags...but half the area is geared to Toddlers).

My question is what time should I have it? The park opens at 11am. I will have exclusive use of the Party Room for 1 1/2. I'm not sure what time I should put on the invitation. The park will surely start getting crowded at Noon.

But is it normal to have a Birthday Party to start at 11am?

The Ages of the kids invited range from 1-17.

2nd Question- Does the wording of this invitation sound like I am begging my guests to come? My mother says it does.

"You are exclusively invited to join us for the 3rd Birthday Celebration of DS.

Where: Dixieland Fun Park
Time: Meet us in the Party Room from 12-1:30 (still not sure of time)

As our honored guest, you will be honored with 3 rides of your choice anywhere in the park and 15 game tokens"

That's all I've written, is it *needy*? Can you critique it for me?

I don't think it sounds needy, to me with the wording that you used, it sounds more of a magical experience of having them attend the party.

I would go ahead and start the party as soon as the park opens. Serve them lunch, cake, drinks.... and then for the younger kids, by the time an hour and a half is over, they may be tired enough to take their afternoon nap.

I agree with mommytotwo.....start the party as soon as possible. I also don't think your invitation sounds needy...I think it sounds magical.

I agree. But I would change one thing. You said, "As our honored guest, you will be honored . . ." I wouldn't use honored twice. Maybe you will receive?

I do not agree with your mom. You are not begging or sounding needy. I think it sounds fun. I would make sure that if you choose a "noonish" time you would have more than cake and ice cream. Can you purchase pizza or bring your own? Some parents may feed their child/ren before they come if they are not sure so I would make sure to have something on the invitation like "pizza will be served in addition to cake and ice cream." I would also put RSVP on the invitation. Expect some not to rsvp and show up anyway.

I think your wording sounds good except for the bold section. I would say, "As our honored guest, you will choose 3 rides anywhere in the park and will be given 15 game tokens."

Sounds like a great party...have fun!

I would delete "exclusively" and both "honored"s. I would change it to "you will receive". As far as time, I would choose the earliest time so that it doesn't cut into the day as much. But you may also want to have it a bit later so that people can enjoy the park before it gets crowded.

Also, what goes on in the party room? An hour and a half sounds like a long time. Most places around here give you about 30 minutes in the party room--time for cake and opening presents.
