If you're travelling to another country but have a connecting flight in the US ... will your luggage get searched twice by US customs? I know that US customs will do a search once in Toronto but will they search it again when you leave the US on the connecting flight?

I was going to post this on the Transportation Board ... But I'm more interested in hearing from my fellow Canadians ... TIA! :p

Not sure but I think that you would clear security and US Customs before you depart Toronto.
Claim your luggage at your US destination.
Go though security to board your international flight.

I know I have seen signs at Pearson for peple that are conecting a flight there. They must claim luggage, clear Canadian customs, and then go to thjought security to the international departure lounge.

Thanks for the reply! My friend was concerned about locking her suitcase ... She thought the luggage might get searched again and her lock cut when she transfered planes in the US. Doesn't sound like that would be the case though :p
