Osborne Lights-Dates Posted

er.. i meant to say incorrect. i was trying to be facetious, not sarcastic.

welcome me back to the list.

If Osborne lights do start on the 28th, I am going to have to decide if we see them or the CP. Any ideas?

You could see an early show of CP (think the first one is usually around 4:30pm); then take a boat over to DHS to see the Osbourne Lights.

if you squeeze your eyes shut tight enough, sometimes it kinda looks like the osborne lights.

i'm pretty sure that second set of dates is correct. since it says they started 11/13/06 and I just came back from there and didn't see any lights.

11/13/06, of course that is a misprint. Sorry for all those that planned their trips earlier in the month. My DH was right in his findings a few weeks ago. :worship: I'm sure glad we changed our dates. Initially, we were booked the week before Thanksgiving.

Even with the November 28th start date "officially" announced, I wouldn't be surprised if they fired up the lights for the week of Thanksgiving. You may be pleasantly surprised like we were a few years ago.

The Candlelight Processional always starts the Friday after Thanksgiving. This year, November 28, 2008. In the past, the performances were at 5:00 pm, 6:45 pm and 8:15 pm. :thumbsup2 If you attended the 5:00 pm show, you SHOULD have time to take the boat from the International Gateway to DHS. DHS closes at 8 pm that night. It is my understanding they keep the lights on for at least one hour after the "official" closing time. So if you wanted, you CAN do both. If you decide to do just one, I'd recommend doing the CP. :)

Sorry, just reread and you WON'T have Park Hoppers, do CP.

We are not going to have the park hopper on our tickets.

Well, that shoots that idea!

For me, I would choose Osbourne Lights because my kids enjoy them more than sitting there watching CP. Osbourne is very festive; CP is festive but with a "religious" tone.

Well, then, there, now .....

My personal itinerary has me looking at the Osborne Family Christmas Lights at 6:45 pm, on Friday, November 14. I'm looking forward to seeing them then.

:santa: Karnak

We've never been to Osborne before. Actually, WDW at Christmastime is new to us. Is Osborne at a specific time or is it a walk-through event? I see online that it says there is music, snowflakes, etc. Just wasn't sure if it was a set performance time such as Fantasmic or an attraction like Walt's tribute. Anyone know?

Once they light the lights 6pm every night, the lights stay on the rest of that evening.

It is a walk-thru that you can take at your own pace.

The "dancing lights" will be presented about every 15-20 minutes throughout the evening.

You're going to be memerized by WDW at holiday time. That is why we have returned the past five years in November and December.

The Osborne lights is a light display with periodic music and light choreography. It is amazing. I found you some YouTube links:

Robo...Who do we need to email/ contact about this?

I just emailed Disney through the contact us link at the bottom of the offical Disney page. I also gave a negative rating for the site survey and explained why. What else could I do?

I am so uspet.
#1 we were made to wait so long for this information
#2 the information was posted with mistakes and confusion
#3 it looks like they have changed the start date all together, putting so many of us who planned our trip in mid-November out in the cold

I really want to cancel my trip. I feel so let down by Disney :(

Don't know if you need to be that extreme and lose your vacation at WDW... but they have been very, very SLOPPY and cavalier about their posting of info.

I'm at a loss as to why it has been such a mess.

Also looking for a contact email to vent on. We are new DVC members and this will be our first trip using DVC points. Having to wait a month for hours, planning around SSW, then learning they are moved to when we made our ressies and then learning that OFL will be moved to the 28th and out of our ressie dates really makes me question my families decision. on this trip.
Very unhappy

I am going to have to sit down tonight and change my plans. We were planning to go to DHS on the 23rd. Now we will have to go on the 28th. We we hoping to avoid any of the parks the day after Thanksgiving due to the crowds. We had planned to go to SeaWorld that day. But now I will have to change SeaWorld to the 23rd and DHS to the 28th. I called earlier this week and book ADRs for the 28th when the rumors started just in case. Unfortunately, we could not get our first choice for dinner package (Brown Derby). We are doing HW&V instead. I should have known that it was too good to be true that I got every ADR I wanted including the times. At least we will be able to see the lights. I truely feel for those who booked earlier in the month. I hope for all of you that the dates change.

We were booked at SSR for the week of Thanksgiving. We thought that we would be able to see most of the Christmas events, especially the Osborne Lights. When we saw that was not the case, we decided to move it to mid December so we could also do the MMVMCP too. We are also hopping to miss the crowds since we won't be there for Thanksgiving week. We were lucky that we were able to move our DVC reservation. Next Tuesday, I will have to go through the process of rescheduling our ADR's.

I didn't read the whole thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned, I would plan on it officially starting after thanksgiving, but last year and I think even the year before they had sneak peaks of the lights from supersoap weekend through the official start. BUT remember these are elelctric lights and even if sylvania is sponsoring them, they cost alot of money to run. and I hope they are doing the castle lighting too. if that is the case, they could be shortening the season in order to save some money on their elelctric bill and yes disney does buy a bunch of their electricity now. actually only about 40 percent is "home grown" these days and that percentage keeps shrinking.
