Osborne Lights-Dates Posted

hey guys! this isn't much but.....called disney today to pay the deposit on our november 20-25 trip and the guy told me that mvmcp would definitely be running (already knew) and when i asked him about the osborne lights, he said the starting date had not been posted (already knew) but.....he felt sure they would be up when mvmcp started. he also said to be sure and catch the holiday show in front of the castle and the lighting of the castle. he ended by saying he felt like we'd be lucky about the osborne lights and not to worry. that's one of the main reasons we planned this trip (we just got back a week ago LOL). really hope he's right. anyhoo.....

Is it just me or does the Disney site say Nov. 28th thru Jan....?????

Tuesday, June 10, 10:30am EDT

Still no word from Disney.

I'm thinking we may not hear until about July 1st.

No harm in CHECKING HERE, however.

;)

(Anyone who finds a different DISNEY LINK with the event hours for Osborne Family Lights, please post it.)

Then when I click on the calendar page for November and go underneath it is says -

SPECIAL EVENTS

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights - 11/13/2006 - 01/04/2009

NEW POST- 6/11-08 - 2PM EDT

Even though Disney has, at last, POSTED some dates regarding
the Osborne Family Lights...

There is STILL much CONFUSION in regard to
the START DATE of the Osborne Family Lights at DHS this year.

I'm hearing what many here have said and I've tried to compile just what it is that we "know" at this point.

Take a look at the current postings from Disney-

If you click on the direct info link from Disney regarding the Osborne Family Lights at DHS-
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/specialEvents?id=OsborneLightsSpecialEventPage

This is what you'll see-

But, if you click on the November Calendar page from Disney -

This is what you'll see-

----------------------------------------------------

Soooo... I'm going to GUESS
GUESS
GUESS
GUESS
GUESS
GUESS that the info that says "Nov. 28" may still be a fragment of that "OLD"
info that the Travel Agency site had posted since June 3rd, or so.
The way the site LIKELY works is that someone inputs a date or other info into a database form
and it "pops up" in many places.

But the new Nov. 13th date MIGHT
MIGHT
MIGHT
MIGHT
MIGHT be the more correct info for a Nov. DATE (even though it says 2006.)

More to come.
Stay tuned!

---------------------
Disclaimer:
I don't work for Disney.
I have no inside information.
I am only GUESSING (and HOPING) for an earlier date.

For all I know, the start date MIGHT, in fact, be Nov. 28, 2008.

+++++++++++++

Osborne Lights dates have just been posted by Disney.

for Disney's info on The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.

They will premiere THIS year on Nov. 28, 2008.

We knew it was POSSIBLE that the Nov. 28th start was correct,
but that is not what had happened in past years.

Looks like the "official word" from Disney is a very late (and disappointing) premiere date of Nov. 28, 2008.

WTH? 11/13/2006 - 1/04/2009????? How do they make a mistake like that?

Where are those email addresses? We need to start complaining again!

I see that the osbourne lights will be turned on Nov 28th, but what about the lights on the castle? when will they be turned on?

And now, I'm mad at my extended family for insisting I go to WDW BEFORE Thanksgiving this year - instead of AFTER like I usually do!

Magical Gatherings? Who cares? I wanted to see the Osbourne Lights!!!!

Robo - In your memory, has Disney ever changed their mind after posting the dates, and maybe started a special event earlier than originally announced?

What has caused them to start it in the 28th instead of the usual opening with MVMCP???

Sure.

Mostly early openings for new attractions and refurbs.

Early "soft openings" happen quite a bit (including the OLights in then past.)

How "early" would a soft opening be? I was thinking that would be only a few days before.

I'm really surprised they have scheduled this AFTER the Thansgiving holiday.

I just wrote Disney about the dates.... wonder what kind of response i will get back.... pretty much wrote that i'm sure that they are going to get some emails from disappointed travelers.... and why the change, and would there be a possibility that they would change the dates back to the normal time....

Drat.

Well, add one more thing to the list of things my parents will likely *never* be able to do in WDW.

I'm sending off an email too - for whatever good it will do.:confused3 But I just need to vent and they need to hear it.

I'm really disappointed by this and don't understand the logic behind the late start. I know nothing is set in stone with Disney but alot of travellers make plans based upon what was done in the past. I knew not to expect Epcot festivities, but this is really surpising.

Guess I'll now keep my fingers crossed that they'll have a special preview for AP holders a few weeks in advance.

I'm still hoping that this means we have a chance of an earlier start date. Granted, the 11/13/2006 start date is obviously a mistake, but as tnmomof4 pointed out, it doesn't say November 28 on the November calendar page.
So - Disney has at least one mistake on an official page regarding the Osborne lights - let's just hope there is more than one mistake and the Nov 28 info on the special events page is also wrong. :)
