Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

Pkondz, I owe you a few replies, but I have made a guess as to what I think your first name might be.

If/when you get the package, check out what the customs form says. That's my guess.

You can say yea or nay, it really won't change what I call you. ;)

You can train them... but you can't make 'em want to go...

See Pkondz, despite the cold and snow, you have triumphed by keeping your sense of humor. No sir, a May snow that would fell a lesser person's outlook only makes our Pkondz more.....snarky. ;)

Yesterday....

I pick up Kay from school and bring her home for lunch. (she made herself some soup.... sheesh, you need to know all the details?)
We get home and there's a message on the machine.
Ruby (in a semi state of panic) tells me I need to go to the pharmacy today because the doctor is going on vacation and she needs a prescription filled and if the pharmacy faxes in the request which has to be done today she can get it filled but otherwise she's gonna run out!!!!
"Kay, we gotta leave now!"
We bolt out the door and race to the pharmacy. I breathlessly explain my predicament to the pharmacist who calmly replies, "You know... you could have just phoned for that...." :headache:
Run from the pharmacy back to the car and race over to drop off Kay back at school.
Grab two quick breaths.
Zip over to Elle's school, scoop her up and take her to her orthodontist appointment.
Wait patiently.
After the appointment, whisk her back to school and now I'm running late. I tell her I'm not going to come to a complete stop and she's gonna have to tuck and roll.
Oh, all right. I stopped for a second.
Zoom off to work and arrive at 2:45.
My shift starts at 2:45.

Why am I telling you this?
Because sometime during all that madness, Canada Post tried to deliver a package.
I have no idea who it could be from.

Of course I'm back at work now (6:45am start) so I have to wait until after 3pm before I can go and pick it up.

That story is quite the buildup.... crickets, crickets. And the poor, lonely package remains at the depot. :sad2:

That's spelled "domed".

:rotfl2:

oooohhhh. I really like that plan.

Maybe I should just treat the Pkondz family to dinner at Boma so you will have a limitless supply of zebra domes. I'm a little worried that the Mara won't have enough to satisfy your addiction. ;)

CARP! CARP! CARP! CARP!!!!

I was telling a co-worker about the saga of the lost....

I can't say it.

... the lost things that could not be shipped to Canada.

I finished my tale and something occurred to me.

Then the full impact was felt and the horror of it all was indescribable.

Whenever I order something from Amazon.com or other US entities that don't or can't ship to Canada...

I have them ship to Pembina ND. It's an hour (tops!) drive from my house. I could've had 'em shipped there and gone and brought 'em across the border myself!!!!

OH THE HUMANITY!!!!!!!!!!

Now you think of this option!! I think my brain just imploded. Buzz now begins to speak like Jodie Foster in Nell.

You better be glad you're snowed in Mister!!! :sad2:

Where do you pick them up in ND....a PO box you have? Is this a thriving business to escape the evil Canadian restrictions on shipped items?

On our most recent trip to WDW, DW and I went out of way to try ZD's. We made a special trip just to see if they were as good as Ponzi claims. Here is my honest opinion about them.
Would I eat them again? Yes.
Were they good? Yes.
Were they out of this world, to die for good? No.
Would I go out of my way to get them again? Nope. If I found myself around AKL, I would stop and get some; but I wouldn't make a special trip for them again.
Would I like you to send me them since Ponzi can't have any? But of course. I will make the sacrifice for him. Plus Lady H enjoyed them as well, so I'm sure she wouldn't mind having some.

You're on T-Man! I mean I'm sure Pkondz wants someone to experience zebra dome joy. We can't help that he lives in a package verboten country. :rotfl:

good to know! not that I am getting to wdw in the near future mind you but ya never know. we don't have anything as yummy as, no I'm not gonna mention them by name....

You're discretion is greatly appreciated.

That sounds really good to me. I need to check out the website in a few minutes. My breakfast this week has been the vastly inferior Philadelphia whipped cream cheese on two slices of toasted raisin bread. It's fairly easy to eat in the car on the way to work and dropping DS off at school.

So day before yesterday, Kay makes herself some soup and I make myself.... a modified Monte Christo sandwich.

I only had turkey, no ham. And mozza, no emmental.

But boy was it good.

I let Kay taste it (first time she's tried one), her eyes got big and she wanted to know when was the next time she and I'd be home at lunch time.

Peter? Paul? I'm running out of P!!!

yup

... and drink more water, that should fix it.

Pkondz, I owe you a few replies, but I have made a guess as to what I think your first name might be.

Momma always said, "Snarky is as snarky does."
She also used to say, "Life is like an undeliverable package of zebra domes. You never will get 'em, ya know."

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............

That story is quite the buildup.... crickets, crickets. And the poor, lonely package remains at the depot. :sad2:

No it's not.

While I'll never turn down a free meal (and good God woman! you've done enough!!!). Even I can only eat so much chocolate.

Oh, sure. I'll hoard those puppies... but sitting down and scarfing down more then a few would probably put me into a diabetic coma.

But what a way to go, huh?

You think you're upset!

There's actually several places just across the border where you can ship stuff to. I've used Pembina Parcel a few times now. They charge a flat rate of $5/parcel. Here's a link that goes into more detail. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/all-part-and-parcel-of-saving-139501203.html

As for Plan B... I've uploaded some pics to PBucket and I'll post details (if I can impose on your thread a little longer, Nebo) in a bit.

Lady H and I will be happy to experience ZD's for Ponzi. I'll send you a pm with our address when I get to work.

Plan B

Yesterday on the way home from work, I had to make a quick pit stop at the post office.

Well, not the post office, but a post office outlet.

Whatever.

Buzz had sent up a package a few years ago and it had finally made its way up to the Peg.
Lemme tell ya. This package had been on an enviable holiday. It had taken a week off from the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life and had flown from South Carolina down to Miami. Spent a few days clubbing (well, it looks like it had been clubbed anyway) then flew to the frozen tundra of Canada. When I picked it up on Tuesday, my heart sank. If there was anything even remotely fragile in there, it was a goner.

P1010269_zpsec5dc010.jpg

You may not be able to see it too clearly, but the left side was pretty much crushed and the top left corner was completely staved in. Doesn't it kinda remind you of one of those steamer trunks with all the stickers on it of all the places it's been?

I gingerly and not without some trepidation opened the box.

Holy Cow!! A cornucopia of deliciousness was inside! See for yourselves.

P1010270_zps78bf1bf4.jpg

I had read for years how people loved ZDs (no. I'm not writing it in full.... it's still too soon), so I had to try one. And I did.

I had read for years how people loved Dole Whip floats, so I had to try one. And I did.

I had read for years how people loved carrot cake cookies at Writer's Stop, so I had to try one. And I did.

I had read for years how people loved chocolate covered rice krispies mickey heads (there's gotta be a shorter way of saying that... how about "yums")... And I didn't try one yet.

I have a running list of things I want to do/see/try at Disney. All the above are on the list.

And now I get to try one! And I don't have to wait until 2014 or later to do it!

Woot!

No, wait this is more like WOOT!!!

Kay wanted to try one right away. It took every ounce of self control to tell her we'd wait until after supper.... "But we're gonna eat early tonight!"

After dinner, Ruby decided to try one of these

(that's Ruby's hand... she was getting impatient with the photo taking and wanted to dive in! :rotfl:)

Tonight, I'm going to have this

Can't wait!

Thanks again DeeDee, you really outdid yourself! :worship:

What a nice present to send, Buzz!!! Bet it was like Christmas in Canada when the box was cracked open. :cool1:

Just wanted to chime in today to say how much I've enjoyed following "The Incredible Journey."

Never had a ZD but it's on my bucket list. To paraphrase:

They said try a Dole Whip; I did; didn't like it
They said try a Mickey bar: I did; didn't like it
They said try a Butterfinger Cupckake: I did; didn't like it

But I have high hopes for zebra domes (not sure why?)

awesome goodie box! glad you posted pics that way I know what Disney treats have been covered. Holy cow that box took a beating on it's trip there. The last time I saw a pic of a box that looked that beat up was when my son sent us pics of one of his care packages when he was in Iraq. Glad the goodies survived
Took DH to the Dr. yesterday and there is a place across the street that makes a killer monte cristo. Next best thing to the blue bayou and it didn't require an adr or 20 bucks. I was a happy lady and again tonight when I had the other half

Looks like an awesome package of deliciousness. But I wanted to comment on the fact that Mr. PKONDZ sneakily blacked out his name!

::yes::

But I wanted to comment on the fact that Mr. PKONDZ sneakily blacked out his name!

Well, I won't ever post my last name willingly on the internet. Maybe I'm paranoid, but there it is.

As for my first name... geesh. You guys already know it.
Nebo's posted it.
Okittysquared's posted it (well she posted two... but that really narrows it down, don'tcha think?)
Buzz knows it too, but she hasn't posted it.

And if you'd PMd me your address, Marita, I would've sent you some Wunderbars and you'd have my name too!

And if you'd PMd me your address, Marita, I would've sent you some Wunderbars and you'd have my name too!

I did get wunderbars and I still don't know it. All I got was the first initial. :confused3

I was going to call and ask last night, but had plumbing problems. Sprinkler system was leaking when I got home from work. I got the problem temporarily fixed for now. By temporary, I mean I shut off the valve. I need to stop and get some replacement parts after work today. Plus I remember you saying you had to take/pick up Elle from dance, walk the dog, make dinner, fix the roof, nab the purse snatchers and who knows what other super daddy duties.

Since it is narrowed down, my guess will be Peter. IF that's not it, then we know your name.

Three things:
#1 Kon- how could you taunt all of us like that knowing full well most of us don't have ANY plans of going to WDW any time soon?
#2- DEEDEE- how could you send those to Pkonds and taunt all of us like that knowing full well most of us don't have ANY plans of going to WDW any time soon.
#3- I don't like either of you any more- because you obviously don't know how to share- since ONLY Pkondz got a box!

I have resorted to something like this a time or two myself. It's nice that we can still entertain ourselves so easily with creativity in the kitchen. BUT, as we have discussed before I do not monkey around with sweet recipes in an attempt to make them more healthy lke your MIL and my mom. What brings this to mind you might ask? Why, the container of sawdust muffins sitting uneaten on my kitchen counter. Made with love I'm sure, but I think I cut my throat trying to swallow a bite when I dutifully tried to eat one, but it's healthy! :rolleyes2

Cool, that's been my thought since your TR. Ironically, I probably won't ever use it until the Buzz and Pkondzs meet at WDW for dinner at ZD, I mean Boma. What's more ironic.....I doubt I will use it even then. I like Pkondz. You can ask Nebo and Smidgy, I never called them anything but Nebo and Smidgy.

Momma always said, "Snarky is as snarky does."
She also used to say, "Life is like an undeliverable package of zebra domes. You never will get 'em, ya know."

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............

Boy, Momma sure is mean! But then again, Momma never met Buzz. I'm pretty tenacious and now with your revelation about ND, well, all we need is to get Buzz back to the World.

There's always hope for ZDs! ;)

No it's not.

What??!! Oh my word, now the beauty of the word "squee" makes sense to me!!!!

So we'll give you a little insulin before you eat the ZDs. And see my comment above about being tenacious.

You think you're upset!

I had a hunch there would be a Canadian mule trade already in existence. What a terrific alternative! You can eat the evidence before you cross the border!!! ;)

Plan B

Yesterday on the way home from work, I had to make a quick pit stop at the post office.

Well, not the post office, but a post office outlet.

Whatever.

Okay, I realize today is Friday and I am seriously late in posting, but in reality I read this on Wednesday. I was at work on Wednesday until 8:30 pm and yesterday was another late night. But let me just say that I was so excited when I started reading your post. It was like I was getting the package and I totally understood why Nebo says I giggle all the time because believe me, I was. Good thing I have private office space! ;)

Buzz had sent up a package a few years ago and it had finally made its way up to the Peg.
Lemme tell ya. This package had been on an enviable holiday. It had taken a week off from the normal hustle and bustle of everyday life and had flown from South Carolina down to Miami. If there was anything even remotely fragile in there, it was a goner.

And here's the part where my giggling instantly evaporated and I thought..."Oh carp, his package is going to be ruined. I have to think of a Plan C"!!

P1010269_zpsec5dc010.jpg

You may not be able to see it too clearly, but the left side was pretty much crushed and the top left corner was completely staved in. Doesn't it kinda remind you of one of those steamer trunks with all the stickers on it of all the places it's been?

What the heck happened to the poor package? Was it dropped off by truck at the border and pulled to you by snow sled? :sad2:

I gingerly and not without some trepidation opened the box.

Holy Cow!! A cornucopia of deliciousness was inside! See for yourselves.

Oh thank heavens!!! Here is where the giggling returns in full force because it appears, for the most part, everything got to you in at least a shape that could be consumed and not in a pulverized dust. Oh Happy Day!!!!

Aww Pkondz, this is the best thank you post ever!!

I am so thrilled that you, Ruby, Elle(I hope you saved her something), and Kay enjoyed the goodie box. I spent the two days after the ZD ship failure racking my brain trying to think of what I could send you. I knew it needed to be items that didn't require ice, not going near that again....at least in this trip. I picked up the RC treats freshly made at the MK Confectionary. The Tiki Toffee and Mickey stickers are from the Poly in tribute to your Hawaiian getaway last year. In fact, your items were the very last things I bought in the World, after I had Tonga Toast for breakfast at Capt. Cooks. Talk about a diabetic coma!!!

I am so glad that you were able to enjoy a little bit of the World! I have to tell you that those days in hot, humid Miami had me worried....but all is well that ends well! ;)

Uh-oh. If you will PM me your address information, next time I'm in the World I'll pick you up some goodies.

Since you don't live in Canada it won't take a year to get to you! ;)

Hopefully we are both on your good side again. :goodvibes

Woot!!! That's the reaction I was going for!!!
