Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

I happen to think it's Paul.

And where's Nebo and Smidgy?

I finally got a job!!! :dance3:
Its only part time but it's better than nothing. In fact I have to go in today from 3-8. And they have blocked the internet!!! Boo!!! :headache:

Yay! You got a job. Any job is better than nothing. However, I'm saddened that they don't have internet. How do they expect you to get any work done? :lmao:

OrangeCats is right... WHERE is Nebo and Smidgy... I felt better knowing they were back and that I'd have something to read again.. (as for some bizzare reason I am caught up on ALL of my TRs). I hope they are okay.. does anyone have their number? Should we call and check on them?

I was going to call and ask last night, but had plumbing problems. Sprinkler system was leaking when I got home from work. I got the problem temporarily fixed for now. By temporary, I mean I shut off the valve. I need to stop and get some replacement parts after work today. Plus I remember you saying you had to take/pick up Elle from dance, walk the dog, make dinner, fix the roof, nab the purse snatchers and who knows what other super daddy duties.

Funny thing. I had plumbing probs too. I got a call from the alarm company saying they were detecting a high water level. I checked the sump pit and sure enough, it was almost full. But as soon as I touched the pipe leading up from the pump it started up. Faulty switch. Luckily the pump was still on warranty so I was able to replace it free of charge.

Since it is narrowed down, my guess will be Peter.

nope.

Uh, oh. It can't be a good thing when the moderator shows up with a sad face.

BUT, as we have discussed before I do not monkey around with sweet recipes in an attempt to make them more healthy lke your MIL and my mom.

My MIL does not change recipes in an attempt to make them more healthy. Quite the opposite in fact. If a recipe called for a cup of butter, I wouldn't put it past her to replace it with lard. The key there is "cheap" not healthy.

What's more ironic.....I doubt I will use it even then. I like Pkondz. You can ask Nebo and Smidgy, I never called them anything but Nebo and Smidgy.

:rotfl2: That would make for an interesting conversation to overhear.

I'm pretty tenacious

I noticed!

I had a hunch there would be a Canadian mule trade already in existence. What a terrific alternative! You can eat the evidence before you cross the border!!! ;)

"Anything to declare? Any alcohol, cigarettes or dairy products?"
"No...erp! 'Scuse me, I mean, No. <burp>"
"Sir, you have chocolate around that mile wide grin."

And here's the part where my giggling instantly evaporated and I thought..."Oh carp, his package is going to be ruined. I have to think of a Plan C"!!

Well if I'd known you were going to come up with a plan C I would've stopped there.

What the heck happened to the poor package? Was it dropped off by truck at the border and pulled to you by snow sled? :sad2:

This week on Discovery Channel: "When Huskies Attack.... Packages". A true story of despair and delight.

Oh I am so glad it was something that you had not tried before!! WOO-HOO!!!!!

Not as happy as I was! :goodvibes

Aww Pkondz, this is the best thank you post ever!!

You're welcome. It was deserved.

I happen to think it's Paul.

yup

Hey! That's great! :cool1: Congrats on the new job!

I called them earlier this evening but I only got their machine. I'll probably try later tonight or tomorrow.

Talked to Nebo Wednesday night. He's fine. Said he was working on the next chapter. When he'll post it is another story, but guessing it may be soon.

Saw this on Facebook and wanted to share: this is Martha Stewart's recipe, but you can try it and adjust to get it to taste as close to the Disney ones as possible. :stir:

CARROT CAKE SANDWICH COOKIES FILLED WITH CREAM CHEESE

2 sticks unsalted butter - room temp
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs - room temp
1 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats - not instant
1 1/2 cup grated carrots - about 3 large carrots
1/2 cup toasted chopped walnuts

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. In a mixer, beat butter and sugars on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 3 - 4 minutes in a stand mixer). Add eggs and vanilla and beat on medium until well combined.

Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger; whisk to combine. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture; mix on low until just combined. Do not over mix.

Mix in oats, carrots, and walnuts. Chill dough for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape tablespoons of dough into balls and place on prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake until browned and crisp around the edges, 11 to 15 minutes rotating halfway through. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the cookies are cooling, make the cream cheese frosting filling.

8 ounces cream cheese - room temp
1 stick unsalted butter - room temp
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Place cream cheese in a mixing bowl. Beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add butter and continue beating until smooth and well blended. Sift in confectioners' sugar and cinnamon and continue beating until smooth. Add vanilla and stir to combine. Then put frosting/filling into a large Ziploc bag and snip the lower corner. Lay out 1/2 of the cookies upside down and put some of the filling on the cookies. Put on the tops and press down a little and sprinkle with a little powdered sugar and some sliced almonds and enjoy!

but helping someone move? boo! :( I am EXHAUSTED! I went straight from there to work. was hopint to get out early last night. whenever you have to get up really early the next day, that's when you have that one late table. that sits and sits.... sigh.
same thing tonight. one of my favorite families (customer wise) came in to eat about 9pm.. gram and gramps. mom and dad college age daughter. plus i had to set up the buffet for tomorrows Mother's day doings.. and have to work all day.
anyhow had an extra clean to do this last week, and Dylan had a tennis match.. and this next week I have an extra shift at the vfw. so 10 work days in a row.
I did take off next satruday for the twin's high school graduation, and their party is the next day.

Hey there!

Yes, I know I've been awol, but the post Disney blues hit me hard this time. That, and helping my son move,, and doc appoints,, well, it's been kind of tough to think of anything worth writing that's worth reading.
I mean, really, the next chapter will contain the Thumpers,, and maybe Stephanie as well, either way she'll be right behind them,, so how much fun can that be to write about?
Huh?

I"m still a few pages behind, and I need to get caught up it seems,,,I just noticed,,,, PM'S.

No, ,not PMS,,, I mean I have a few personal messages,,, you know,,, as in plural? geesh

So, the blues are fading, (actually, they've been eliminated from the play offs I think), so we will try to get back into the groove once again. I know Ponzi is champing at the bit to tear one of my chapters apart again, soon.

:jumping1 Yeah he's back! We will all be patiently waiting for your next chapter.... Ok maybe not patiently but looking forward to it!

I spent Mother's Day walking around Boston. My DH and DD had Red Sox tickets, so I went along for the ride. We visited the marathon bombing site, which was strange- there's no big shrine or anything that screams, "This is where it happened!" I located the finish line bomb site by looking down at the sidewalk - there's one big area of concrete that's patched with black asphalt. Other than a few decorated trees along the route, there's not a lot to see. I said to my DD, "It's like the city is closing back in on it." Which later I felt was exactly right - why give the terrorists a permanent monument?

Also saw some adorable 3 year old girls dressed as ducklings near the Swan Boats (OMG- so cute! There was some kind of Mother's Day parade) where they have the Make Way for Duckling statues, and checked out the new Earl of Sandwich restaurant on the Boston Common that they put in a building that used to be a public restroom. Yep. I was so excited - it's one of my favorite Disney eateries but alas, the menu is quite limited and my two favorites were missing (mediterranean tuna and BLT) so I tried the caprese. Of course it was good, but I had been really looking forward to the tuna. Oh, well. I'll be at Downtown Disney in a couple of weeks.

For 10 fantastic days at Disney. Port Orleans French Quarter and floatin' down the Sassagoula Riva (in my best southern drawl)

:offtopic:

Pkonds... you are in Canada right? I hope you're not near this... as soon as I saw this, I thought... OMG I need to see if my Canadian Dis buds are alright!

I hope you're okay up there... Are you part of the 20s/30s weather still?

Right now it's 78F... but it is in the 20s Celsius.
Winnipeg is about 200 miles from Ochre Beach where all the damage happened. Apparently there was one couple who were just about to list their place for sale for around $400,000. Now it's worth zip. That's gotta be tough.

Glad you weren't slammed Ponzie that is just beyond belief. watched that clip and was in awe of the whole thing. :scared1: Glad it has warmed up for you up there. We hit 102 today. a bit early for that but they are saying we will cool down at the end of the week. Heck they are saying with the wind chill figured in it might get as low as 89:rotfl2:.
