Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I have been absent from the DIS as I've been spending the holiday with family. Smidgy - beautiful post, nice to be reminded of the reason for the season.
As you all can see from my ticker I'll be at Disney very, very soon :cool1: If anyone would like a postcard from the world PM me and I'll be happy to send you some Disney magic!

Excited for you!!!! :hyper:

Nebo: Yes you are included in God's Blessing, you especially are included.

I didn't ask for anyplace special at CSR. We don't care where they put us. They asked if we were celebrating anything, I wanted to say yes! No kids on this trip! :woohoo: But I just said my graduation.

"JUST"? your graduation? ya know, people celebrate birthdays every year, and don't do a dang thing to earn them. earning a college degree while raising 4 kids is something to celebrate!

that cabana section is the most convenient. it's between the main pool and the front desk, food court, etc.

I think casitas is the prettiest. wherever you stay, make sure to wal THROUGH the casitas cection, preferrable at night. (not along the promenade). there are reflecting pols, fountains, a rotunda, really romantic.

and I think the breakfast buffet is great. besides the typical scrambled eggs potatoes, sausage bacon, pancakes wffles, pastires, fruit, etc etc there is an omelot station.. the guy is fun to watch, really quick! and he'll also make fried eggs.

Well said!

Monica you absolutely deserve to celebrate your accomplishment. ::yes::

Ever wonder just how many suitcases did they have to go through to get all that film footage?

Or gorillas!

Well, you. Apparently the last toothless cab driver you had wasn't very accommodating.

The way things are going, I'm going to have met the main requirments to cab driving. Can't see? check,, no teeth, check.

Who's Ches? Chet? From the Hardy Boys? And why is he roasting his n.... nevermind.

Uh oh, he got me started, The Hardy's best friend, Chet Morton, Joe was in love with his sister while Frand was hooked on Callie Shaw. Sometimes Biff Hooper got some print time on an asventure, and when the ol Chis Craft they had, The Sleuth broke down, they sometimes used their buddiies other Chris Craft, named, the Napoli. That was Tony's boat and yes, Gooogle sometimes comes to me for answers when it doesn't know them.
And neither of them made it to the age of 22 due to over fifty concussions and skull fractures apiece in just over a two year period.

When Elle was about 4 years old, we rented a cabin with an indoor hot tub. You couldn't adjust the temperature and boy, was it hot! But Elle loved it. I had bought her a little fishing line with a magnet on the end it also came with plastic fish with metal noses. She had tons of fun in that hot tub, fishing away. We eventually hauled her out. She was happy.... and beet red.

That's cute. I remember times dragging my sons out of a lake or pool when their lips were royal blue, and their whole bodies shaking uncontrollably from the cold.
And they didn't want to get out!

Dian Parkinson was one of the original Barker's Beauties. She quit then sued Bob for sexual harrassment, though.

I remember the law suit, then I lost interest.

HUH? I say in my eloquent way. I have no clue what you are referring to.

Ach Mein Gott! You posted a poem once or twice about quitting smoking from a German perspective,, and it was constantly interruppted with a German word for coughing, I believe. Kaff , Kaff? no, that's not it..........DON"T make me come over there!

The Dragster? Really? Don't get me wrong, I love the Dragster and the take off/45 degree angle is one awesome combo, but that two hour wait for a 2 second ride? Gimme a break. At least RnRC gets me my monies worth. And yes loops went out awhile ago, but loops in the dark. . . now were cooking with oil, :lmao: It's SM on steroids!!! (Nah, still feeling the Dragster? Well, I had to try, I've done my Disney fan duty lol).

Sorry, X factor, I disagree, Loops are loops, the dark has squat to do with it. Heck, even in the day most people take them in the dark since they close their eyes anyway, whethere the Hulk or Dragon Challenge,,,,as for the Dragster, you need to stay on site there cuz it opens on ahour early for resort guests, my son and I even rode it in the very front seat. I'm sorry, that's the VERY FRONT SEAT!
I still haven't gotten my revenge on him for that.

Excited for you!!!! :hyper:

Monica, don't let them hide you away in the back, you make sure they show you where your room will be, while keeping in mind, the bridge in the cabana section is a shortcut. But if you get a water view in Casitas 4 or 5, I'd take it. And of coarse a room in Cas. 3 is great, but it's now preferred, so don't hold your breath.

And the guy at the buffet in Pepper market is fun to watch as he makes a bunch of omelettes and egg orders all at once. He's like the guy at Teppanedo who wants to cut my throat, only instead of knives, this guy uses spatulas!

"JUST"? your graduation? ya know, people celebrate birthdays every year, and don't do a dang thing to earn them. earning a college degree while raising 4 kids is something to celebrate!

Wait a minute. I take it very seriously when people come up to me on my birthday and say, "Wow, Nebo, made it another year without dying, congratulations"!
That's doing something to earn your birthday isn't it?

Well, I guess I need to get started on the next chapter, where the heck were we?

The way things are going, I'm going to have met the main requirments to cab driving. Can't see? check,, no teeth, check.

All you have to do now is lose your sense of direction and you're all set.

Wow. I barely remember Chet let alone Biff. I have no recollection of Callie Shaw or who liked who. Then again I think I only read 3 or 4 or their books. I remember they all had similar titles like "Treasure in the Outhouse" by I.P.Nickles

Well, I guess I need to get started on the next chapter, where the heck were we?

We were just over there. No, over there. Yeah, there.
Does that help?

I still haven't gotten my revenge on him for that.

Stay on site? What resort? That reminds me of the first time my dad took me on SM. He, my aunt and my cousin all took me on it, I was about 6, knowing I had no idea what it was. I asked to sit in the front row (in my mind I wanted to see whatever the ride was, not knowing again, it was a coaster). I should have known something was awry when I went for the front seat and my dad said "no no, I can't let you sit there, your mother would kill me". We rode. I sunk so low in my seat and no one could see me and I was to freaked out to speak that the CM had to assure them I did not fall out while we were waiting to unload. We get outside and I punched my dad and said "That was scary". His reply? "You wanna go again?", me: "YEAH!!!" :rotfl: good times.

Wow! Go away for a few weeks and so much has happened. Congratulations to the graduates!! I can't even imagine going back to school at this stage in my life. You both have my congratulations and admiration. Also congrats Marita, no small feat for you either! We have 23 years to go....urgh.

And Mony, please listen to the CSR advice...it came in handy for me in Sept. We loved it!! You deserve a great room.

Great updates, Nebo. Will have to go back to check out the video (my laptop has been moved due to our Christmas tree & I haven't got it out yet, thank goodness for the DIS app.)

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and has a wonderful New Year!!

You put your Christmas tree in your lap?

I love reading about everyone's different holiday traditions.

Ah,I think you might be referring to a song by Hildegard Knef.

I says I am smoking the last cigarette and play the old record 9n the record player again. It goes on to sing about love an betrayal. Anyway, I went to an free translation site to give you the Enlish version.

Here you go, you get what you pay for:

German:
Ich rauche noch die letzte Zigarette
und leg noch mal die alte Platte auf

Horrible translation:
I don't smoke nor the last cigarette and leg still time on the old plate

Hmm. No coughing or Kaffing in that song, and no reference to Smidgy's glow. I don't know then. So if you have to come over, DO IT!

Well said!

Monica you absolutely deserve to celebrate your accomplishment. ::yes::

Yes, what Pkondz and Smidgy said! The sheer amount of multi-tasking alone that is involved in obtaining the degree and raising four kids is enough right there to celebrate. Good heavens Monica, that's a herculean feat!!

You are awesome and you rock!! :cheer2:

Yeah? Well I once made 3 over easy eggs without breaking a single yoke one time!

Hi Nancy for all you've said, Great Holidays to you too.

At Cedar Point where the Dragster lives, you can stay right there on the shores of Lake EErie at the Breakers Resort. You couldn't get closer by sleeping at the front gate!

I had no idea :confused3 Since I'm up in the bottom of the mitten tho, I have never had a need to stay at a hotel just to go to the Point. Cool to know tho:thumbsup2 thanks

Yeah? Well I once made 3 over easy eggs without breaking a single yoke one time!

Yoke's on you!

Here's one you may not know, now, I'll hold the Christmas tree, sideways, while you,,,,,

Best Quote ever from Nat'l Lampoon Xmas Vacation

Todd: Hey Griswold. Where do you think you're gonna put a tree that big?
Clark: Bend over and I'll show you.
Todd: You've got a lot of nerve talking to me like that Griswold.
Clark: I wasn't talking to you.

Yeah? Well I once made 3 over easy eggs without breaking a single yoke one time!
]

that's only cause I had that yoke around your neck tightened really tight!!!!! (you did, however, break all 3 yolks);)

Xfactor: I told nebo one of the things that would really bother me about living close to WDW is I would really miss stying at the onsite resorts. to me, thats at least HALF of the thrill of WDW, the resorts.

if I lived in Ohio, I would still want to stay onsite. there are numerous options.

The Breakers hotel.. this hotel was built umpteen years ago., early 1900's ? (nebo will correct me)/ Cedar point is one of the oldent amusement parks in the USA. it does have an new addition. so you can go out one door, and be on the beach, on Lake Erie. out the other door, and you are in Challenge Park, just a short walk from the side entrance to the Cedar point theme park. (challenge park is go carts, mini golf, arcade, and eXtreme stuff like bungee jumping, etc)

the Breakers had an indoor pool, 2 outdoor pools , as of 10 or so years ago, a TGIF, a pizza parlor, another restaurant, a bar, etc. and you walk to the park.

there is a water park at Cedar point, also. near there is a campgrounds. there is another onsite resort that was called the Sancastle Suites. a littel pricier. and, room for more people (although at the "old" breakers we had a room for 4, but there was 2 rooms, with a double bed in each room, 1 bath)
Cedar point is on a penninsula jutting out into Lake Erie, the suties on on the end, so, on the west side of the pennisula are the cabins. I think our son, his now wife and 2 other couples rented a cabin once. so you can cook out on a grill, swim in the lake, etc. and go to the theme park.

there was a famous Dave's outside the park on the west side of the penninsula. (so you could eat at that or the other resort restuarants without theme park tickets.)

there is a ferry to Put in Bay(I think? ) which my son Jeremy says is a great party island.. (he would know:rotfl:)

there used to be (maybe still is:confused3) a Getaway Guide you could send away for . you used to be able to call 1-800-bestfun. it gave you all the info for package deals and tons of coupons.

we would put 2 two night packages back-to-back. it gave us 3 full days. 4 "starlight" tickets (tickets only good in the evening) for the first night. 4 one day tickets to the theme park only. then we would use the coupons n the getaway guide for 4 combo tickets (2 days each, both theme park and water park). worked out great! no driving, one hour early entrance tot he theme park.

hhmm.. this is sounding better and better, why haven't we gone in so long?? it's only a 6 hour drive from here!

Ok, back to work.
I'd still like to see an actual repair cost for all the damage that was done.

Please do, we could meet you there. I live close too so never spent the night for CP. However this week on Thursday we are going up to Sandusky to spend one night at Kalahari. That's an indoor water park for those that don't know.

wehave a couple indoor water parks near us. and a few in wisconsin. unfortunately, they have never done much for us. (even the indoor pool at cedar point, meh.

there is a resort in S.t Chrales IL we have gone to for weekend jaunts (before we discovered WDW and all our mney went there. we would do a musical , and 2 nights, but only in the spring summer, cause they have one indoor pool and one indoor/outdoor pool.

to us, pool and swimming goes along with SUN SUN SUN!!!!. kids will swim whenever. only a few times have we done any night swimming (I can think of one night at Vero Beach and one night in the quiet pool at POR, off hand) I can barely talk Nebo into the pool in the day time!!! " PLEASE PLEASEEE!!! go in the pool with me!!!"" I finally quit begging. he only goes in if he's really HOT.

You guys are all great thanks for the pats on the back.

We did reserve a King. Honestly I don't care where we are put the kings I read about said they were near the conference center. We will see, I'll do my bidding at check in.

We just adopted a golden Retriever, the cutest thing I'd ever seen since laying eyes on Nebo!

He is 10 months, they think purebred, and bigger than my 5 year old. Lots of excitement over here.

The Tiger fan named him Miggy. Perfect pet, name and dog for us.

Happy New Year friends! Play it safe!
