Thanks everyone. We are from Washington State so 70 for us is warm LOL. We will pack suits just in case and light jackets but will probably be in the ones in flip flops!
But are you hearing "30 degrees"?
DH works in Seattle, commutes by bus and walking, and he doesn't switch from shorts to pants until it's 32 degrees at home.
In Orlando he was nearly in tears on our first trip when it was in the 40s at Epcot because the cold wind blowing across the *swamp* that is Orlando was bone-chillingly cold. (and it hit the 20s that trip, though that was early December; not even winter yet!)
We were there in January 2015; DH and DS were doing the marathon weekend's 5K. They were so so so cold that morning. iw as volunteering and noticed that when I checked in at 3am it was something like 38 degrees. By the time hubby and son got there it was 36. Yep, it got colder. They were all huddled up together, keeping warm with thousands of their brand new best friends. So so so so cold.
In February of that year, for the Princess 5K morning, it was COLDER. Thankfully rundisney got smart, and brought out the "space blankets" (for the january 5K I was hiding in the first aid tent after we volunteers set up but before any runners owuld be coming through, and that's where they were hiding those blankets and NOT handing them out) and brought in space heaters for the corrals. Because it was colder than it had been in Jan, and in January it was mid-30s that morning.
It can also go from 30 to 70 in the same day! Which is HARD on the system, let me tell you. And hard to dress for. You literally want to bring wool socks and hats and thermals AND swim suits and shorts. Bring it ALL. Jeans and a puffy coat won't cut it for 10 hours walking around in a cold and breezy swampland. You'll be freezing in a few hours, especially if you have any kids in strollers where they aren't generating heat and their bottoms have only a thin piece of fabric and their pants between them and the cold air. Layers.
As for swimming, an 80 degree pool feels like heaven when it's 40. Until you get out. Or if your hair and the skin under it gets wet. Especially the little straggly hair that comes out of a ponytail. Brr.
I don't mean to keep you from February. I just want you to be prepared. If you bring all that and then it's 75, AWESOME. Better to have it than miss it or have to go buy it!
That December trip and January 2014 marathon weekend (the 2015 trip mentioned above was a "do-over"), I ended up sick for OVER a month *after* we got home, and part of it was because of the assault on my immune system by having to work so hard just to keep somewhat warm.
