Orbitz??

Ok, have never used orbitz or travelocity or any of the other such sites, I want to book our plane fare through orbitz tomorrow and am feeling just a bit anxious about using their site, anyone have any experiences they might share?? (preferably ones that won't make me panic )

I just used Orbitz today to book fares for October! I had been using Kayak and Bing to keep track of the fares and when it was time to book I went directly to American's website. Unfortunately, once I got to American's site they didn't have 4 seats left. NO!!!!

I went to Orbitz and tried them, knowing sometimes they have seats available when the airlines don't. I was able to book all four seats on Orbitz for the same price as advertised on kayak and bing, pick our seats and received all the confirmation numbers and receipts within an hour. Orbitz didn't have any booking fees and I am able to get a price guarantee just in case someone else gets the fare for a less expensive price.

This was the first time I have used them for airfare, but I have used them for hotels multiple times and it's always been great.

I have used Orbitz twice for airfare purchases with no problems at all. Even had to contact customer service to change seat assignments and they were very helpful. I would not hesitate to use Orbitz again.

Personally, I think there is no advantage. If something goes wrong, such as a canceled flight, delay, etc., you have to deal with the third party, not the airline, which can really complicate things.

That's what I thought but I've always wondered if I was missing something. Another travel site (elliott.org) has regular stories about problems with these types of sites.
