Orbitz Questions from a Novice

Do you have to book each room separately? I'm finding that for the 20% code to work, it would need to be done separately (we need 2 rooms). Also, if I book our first night through a site like this and the rest through Disney, will DME still pick us up and take us to the resort? (the one booked with one of these sites)
You'll be able to use DME if you go through a third-party booking agency. Those reservations are treated exactly the same by Disney - DME, Magic Bands, FP reservation dates will be just the same as for people who book directly through Disney - except that you can't add on the dining plan.

I am also trying to cancel a reservation through Orbitz and am being hit with a $25 cancellation fee which was NOT disclosed when I originally booked. I am quite frustrated by this because I have been using Orbitz for years to book Disney trips and NEVER had a cancellation fee. I tried contacting Disney and they said they can't help me, I have to contact Orbitz. I contacted Orbitz and spoke to an extremely uninformed and unhelpful representative. I will be putting a claim through my credit card as this was not disclosed when I originally booked. I will be thinking twice before booking with Orbitz in the future.
Have you tried pursuing the issue on Twitter? @OrbitzCareTeam might be able to assist...at least, it's worth a try.

I just canceled one reservation with Orbitz today and rebooked at a different resort for one less nights. There is no cancellation $25 fee listed on the new reservation, but I did get a different email confirmation than I usually get. This one doesn't have the Disney code on it so I am going to have to call to get that number. My trip is for April 7-11 at AS Music. They put me in a Standard/King, which is great since I am traveling solo.

Can you tell me how this worked out for you? I have a similar situation (needing more than one room) that I'm trying figure out.

I'm having some trouble with a Cheaptickets reservation. I've always been able to add children to the room free of charge in the past and today when I called to add them to the reservation she told me total would go up by over $900 . Did Disney change their policy or did I just get an uninformed agent??? I have a family suite booked and I'm the only one on the reservation. I'm trying to add a 13,12, and 10 year old, so I'm well within the room requirements.

You need to tell the agent that they have to call Disney to add the children.

To add DME, you can either call DME directly or you can register online.
You will need the 12-digit Disney confirmation number that begins with a 4. If you don't have that, call WDW with your reservation information and ask for it.

The $25 cancellation fee started after Orbitz (and its sister site, Cheaptickets) was purchased by Expedia. Apparently it is something Expedia has instituted.

I'm on the phone now with Disney and they are linking my cheaptickets reservations (i was fine with doing it myself but the CM said they aren't supposed to release the Disney confirmation code which is different than the past) and they are adding my children to the reservations. It's taking them a little while because they had to pull in someone else from another team to assist because its a cumbersome process on their end. Since I had free time and just noticed the $25 cancellation fee that Cheaptickets/Orbitz added, I checked to see if they finally fixed the website bug (I really think it was a deliberate design by the former owners, not a bug!) on the overcharges they did when you included children and it looks like it is fixed (at least for Disney hotels). Anyone else want to take a look to confirm?

Just tried to link the cheaptickets reservation that I made yesterday morning. CM told me it takes 72 hours to get those reservations loaded.:crazy2:

It generally doesn't take that long. Sometimes if they're having issues with the back-end systems, it can be slow, so they tell you to wait 72 hours because usually whatever stuff is going on will be resolved by then. I've had reservations linked 5 minutes after I booked them.

Good news, I got a very helpful customer representative from Orbitz yesterday who helped me get the girls added. It only took her about ten minutes. I am so grateful for her help, looking forward to our upcoming trip!

So what some of ya'll are saying is that you made a reservation that said free cancellation on it, then after you booked and paid, you were able to see the real terms of the cancellation fee?

Ya, I would so dispute that with my credit card company too.
