Well hello everyone, I am a long time lurker and finnally registered and would like some advice please. Our family travels to WDW/ & or other parts of FLA on a regular basis. Between 2 & 3 times a year. Now I have been really after my DH to purchase, but he's just dragging his feet. Now with the release of SSR, I again am trying to pursuade him. But I think he may have a valid point right now for wanting to wait, We are just recently back, and our next trip is scheduled for Decemeber. The plans cannot be changed as we are traveling with 2 other families and all is set. We have decided to take a break from the mouse and not return until November of 2005. So his point is why tie up our money when we can purchase in the spring of '05 and probably still use our points for the Nov trip. He's starting to make sense to me. Any thoughts on his reasoning?

Also, we would probably have to go resale if we wait. Are there any resalers that are better? I see that Lee Reid seems to have the most inventory, anyone use him/her?

And one last question, is it true that if we buy right now, we could buy in at BWV?

Thanks so much. This board is a wealth on information.

Hi Doesney, and WELCOME to the DIS boards!!!

Anyway, I will try my hand at a couple of your Qs...
Remember that the point cost of DVC will likely increase between now and spring 2005. Also, there may not be many SSR resales on the market yet by that time. Yes, you could buy resales at the other resorts, but remember that will be a 38 year contract instead of 50.
I believe BWV points are all gone, but I could be wrong on that.

Good luck, and again, WELCOME!!!

Just a thought--
How many points would you buy? If you buy now you could bank some points to get a larger unit in Dec. 2005. Points never seem to get cheaper.

Hi,
Another way to go is to buy now ,resale of course. Rent out the points for $10.00 pp you will in effect reduce your cost by $6.00 pp. If you bought resale for $72.00 net. and rent them out reducing the net cost even more. If you wait 2 years the cost will be at least $10.00 pp more. You could rent them to family or friends with no downside.

Good luck.

You could try out Vero or Hilton Head in 2004 if you needed a break from the mouse.

If it was me, I would buy now and get what I want rather than take your chances in 2005 of what will be available by that time or what changes could take place between now and then. But the one thing that is consistent throughout DVC's is, "Why didn't I do it before now!!" LOL

EXACTLY, Wordzylady! We did not buy until 1999 and when we did, we asked ourselves the same question. "Why didn't I do it before now!!" It made so much sense, since we go to WDW every year. If we would have bought when DVC first came out, it would have been paid for by now.

You all are not taking in account the 11 month window. If you want to buy at BWV, November can be a popular time there because of the food and wine festival. If you don't care where you'll stay, I'd say by all means wait until the first of the year. I think you are looking at resale and I wouldn't think they'll be a big jump in that market with SSRS available for awhile. Also some have complained about Reid's lack of communication. Personally had a great experience with Jaki @ atimeshare.com and also the Timeshare store, sponsor of this site gets great reviews. Email me if you want to know more about resale experience

If you have decided that DVC is something that fits your family, I agree with everyone else and think you should buy now. The price of the pts will just continue to go up and you have the options of banking or renting your pts until your next WDW visit or even possibly fit in a quick trip to HH or VB if you want a non Disney trip. If you know you want to own a DVC membership, why wait and pay more money to get less time??
