opinions on this room area at AKL

I'm going to call AKL to make our room requests. ( we already have reservations for savannah view)

Tell me you opinion: Zebra trail, 3rd floor, Arusha view, king size bed.
Any thoughts on if this is a good choice? Oh also we need to have a smoking room so I'm hoping they can do that in this area.

I do perfer the Arusha savanna view. Please keep in mind that you made four requests so there is a chance you might not get all of them. Did you give them in order of importance to you? Disney trys to great requests but when we give multiple it makes things tough. So you could end up with your King Size bed but be no where close to the other items.

We usually just say a view of the Arusha Savanna and leave it at that.

You have a lot of requests. Make sure the one that is the most important to you is placed first on the list.

We reserved a Savannah View for our visit, and we wanted Arusha Savannah, bunk beds, and 2nd floor. I faxed and called both, asking if they could please put these requests with my reservation. I only got one of the three (the Arusha Savannah), had to beg the CM at check in for that, and had to wait an extra long time for a room to open up there. I loved the Arusha Savannah, but I kind of wished I'd gone for the bunk beds instead, because my DS's fought in the queen bed every night! I hope you have better luck with your requests than we did. We went in early May, not a real busy time.
I did like that savannah the best.

Just to reiterate: Put your most important requests first! In your case, I imagine the order might be:
Smoking
King Bed
Arusha Savannah
Zebra Trail
3rd Floor

And Alice in Cleveland makes a good point: that is a lot of requests. Fewer requests often results in more fo them being met. The Smoking room, which should be your first request, unless you don't mind popping over to the designated smoking area whenever you need a puff. But the Smoking and King Bed requests, which I would assume would be the most important requests, are going to sharply limit the number of rooms they can offer you, but will make the most difference in your comfort during your stay.

We stayed Concierge level in early Dec at AKL two years ago and our only requests were savannah view & a king size bed. We did not get a king size bed. Concierge CM said king size beds are hard to get because most of them are handicapped rooms and they are reserved for the guests who need that type of room. Also, I think the majority of the rooms are nonsmoking. Did you make your requests to CRO and have them added to your reservations? I have heard that the rooms assigners pay more attention to those because they are attached to the actual reservation because they receive so many fax requests and it is hard for them to deal with them all. So you may want to cover all of your bases and call CRO if they do not have your requests. Also please don't be disappointed if you do not get everything you request. Have a great trip and if you have time it would be great to have a trip report from you when you get back.

We have 2 adults & 3 kids. They booked us the DLX Savannah room. I'm assuming that will have the Queen, bunks and day bed, right? I'm needing to know what is the best floor to request in order to see animals and not trees. I've read the higher up you are .... all you see are tree tops. Also, what opinions on the room locations, I have no idea what "Trail" to request.

Thanks everyone!! This has been very helpful.
I think what we will do is ask for a smoking room first and then Arusha view. Those are really are most important I think.
We will just see it as ... anything else we get that we wanted will be frosting on the cake!!
Yes I will be sure to write a trip report when we get back. We are staying a couple nights at AKL and the 5 nights at the YC.
We can't wait!!!! We are finally under 30 days!!!!
