Opinions on SSR? Pro & Con?

I own at BWV and WLV. I've stayed in all the DVC resorts(excep HH), and they are all great. Each one has pros and cons. SSR is very elgant. Probably not the most convenient if you are going commando, but if you go to relax, it micht be the best one, since you have DD right in front of you. Actually, I am staying 10 days there next December. The pool si great too.

If you add on and get points in 04 UY the cost is $90 per point. If you are only getting 05 points then it is $87 a point.

If the option is available I would get the 04 points and rent them for $10 which brings your cost down to $80 per point.

If you rent out the 100 bonus points as well that would bring the cost of 120 points down to $71.67 per point!!!

Thanks for all your comments and advice, people, but CRISI, you hit it right on the head for me: I do need room service & valet parking due to limited mobility (back problems & arthritis), and walking to DTD is totally out of the question. I rent an ECV at the parks because of pain, so proximity is a MUST. :moped: (I would love to see the fireworks every night from the New Year's celebration, though.) The pros all sounded good & the cons not so bad, but this may all be academic now because I read somewhere that Disney itself still sells the other DVCs? I didn't know that so SSR is not the only option. My other question was whether it would be easy to buy at SSR but use the points at other locations like BW or WV, but I'll ask on the phone.
P.S. You're all welcome to add your two cents about that too! :goodvibes
I'd recomment checking out OKW resales. The dues are almost identical to Saratoga Springs and the cost is MUCH lower. The recent ROFR info is that you can buy OKW for $75 a point. If you make an offer to start dues in 2006, you might even get banked points from 2004 plus the points coming in December with no dues. That would save you at least $15 a point. I've always bought resale, so you might want to think about it. Good luck. ::MinnieMo

Stayed at SSR last Dec. and I thought it was very nice. I enjoyed it much more than my recent stay at AKL. I too like the outside hallways and I'm not sure if it was just the time of year or day we went but the quite pool was not crowded at all and my kids had a great time. The room (a Studio) was small for my family but we managed and will know next time to stay in a two bedroom. The food was fine but options were limited (probably because the place was fairly new then), but DTD was right around the corner. I do not mind the length of time it takes to ride to the parks but the wait at the Bus Stop was very long at times. Again probably a result of only a few buildings being opened.

One last opinion: If you are not concerned about home resort but are concerned about the bottom line then I would suggest a resale at OKW. Maint Fees are reasonable and you can neogiate price but ROFR should be a consideration when you do. The process takes longer with a resale but the closing cost are not all that much. Call TSS and find out the exact cost and compare it to DVC. Now if extra points and 12 more years at the timeshare are important to you then SSR thru DVC is probably the way to go.
