For those who have stayed there what did you think?? I may stay there on my next trip but the photos I have seen of the room itself I did not like but the location -- monorail right there -- and the view can't be beat!! Any info and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!! :D

I've stayed at the Contemporary Tower (12th floor club level). I'm a fan of a "classy" hotel, but was not disappointed in the Contemporary. The rooms actually look much better in person, and the views are awesome. The room was a good size, the largest "standard" room I've been in at Disney. The resort also has a walking path to the Magic Kingdom, it takes maybe 5 minutes to walk it (I preferred to 'jog' the path). :)

We've were just there 7/2-11 and stayed on the 8th & 11th floors. Both rooms were on the MK side and the 4th's fireworks were awsome!!! The rooms are the largest at Disney 435 sq/ft. The hotel is not "Disney themed" but that is something we personally like. We like having the monorail right there also.

We have stayed at the CR (tower room) and the room was spacious. Our room was on the 9th floor facing the MK and it was an awesome view! The kids loved it. We got to see fireworks every night.

As far as noise, we weren't bothered at all. Let me just say that I don't like noise. When we opened the room door, we naturally heard some noise. Nothing in the room though. They have nice shops, too. Great food!!

My main problem is that I've seen pictures of a cheesy, crazy colored rooms with no hutch for the tv -- just a tv sitting on the bureau (sp?)-- and I think from these photos the room decor is hideous and I would not want to stay there BUT then I see photos of rooms that are so classy and nice neutral cream/beige colors and very nice decor.
I called the Contemporary to ask if the rooms are in different locations like wing and tower and she said "no" the rooms vary no matter where you are -- and I tried to get her to clarify by asking "so, I could get a crazy colored room or a cream colored room if I stay in the tower?" and she said "yes, you could get either."
These rooms are so totally different it amazes me that they are in the same hotel let alone the same building!!!

The rooms were cream colored before they were rehabbed. I believe all the rooms are "crazy colored" now. But I like them. The colors fit in with the vibrancy of the resort.

I think I know what you are talking about! Do you mean the pastel muted color bedspreads (they almost look tropical)? If so, those are in the tower, on the 14th floor (concierge level). All other tower rooms and wing rooms/suites are the bold colors. ;)

:)

WDWalways, I've seen many photos of the CR rooms and have never seen any that looked like the beige/cream colored room seen in those photos. I do have to say that the beige/cream colored rooms do look very nice. Much more classy than the vibrant/bold colors. We are going to the CR in Oct. and figured that we would be getting a crazy colored room, as that is all I have ever seen, however going with DD and DGC, so figured it would be fine. Actually think DGC would get a kick out of the crazy colors. However, if it was just DH and myself, would definately prefer the more subdued/classy look, if it is available. I'm wondering if those last 2 pictures were of a different hotel:confused:

If the room decor various randomly like the CM said, I think it work to put on your room request that you want a room with the beige or tan colors..how ever you want to describe them..or you can say any room but the ones decorated in the bold primary colors...and i bet they would be willing to work with you on that. In the same breath you probably need to weigh what is most important to you when it comes to room choice..would you rather push for a room facing MK or push for a room with the mute classy decor...you COULD request both, but obviously it would be harder to appease both requests as opposed to one. :) good luck!!

A co-worker of mine stayed in a tower room Sept '00 and she said they were the crazy colored rooms BUT they were rehabbing at that time and she asked if she could see one of the new rooms and they showed her one and it was the cream colored rooms -- they told her at that time that they were changing all the rooms to these colors so I am totally confused!!

Alrighty, then. The first room in those pictures is the basic tower and wing colors (found in all wing rooms/suites and all tower rooms on floors 5-12). The second room is the old wing/tower rooms, before renovation. The third room is the old tower 14th floor rooms, before renovation (IMHO, these were the best decorated out of all WDW resort rooms).

I too would have to agree on them being the best decorated...very classy looking..and REAL...not fake plywood cut outs or something that everything looks like in the pics (havent been to any resorts, so i have to rely on the pictures..)

But what did your decor look like??? Was it really loud cheesy colors?? If you look at the photos (see a few posts up) which one did you have??

Also, the bottom link takes you to a photo of a tower king bed room and look at that bureau!!! It looks older than time and so tacky and cheap!! I do NOT like the tv just out like that and not inside a hutch. I just don't get it!!

IMHO, the room was nicer than the picture you provided.

Yes, it's bright but we liked it. That picture almost seemed fake like when they provide a picture of a hotel room before it's actually built or something.

Anyway, my room was nicer and more purple than the picture provided.

If you're truly that concerned about the decor, then simply stay at another resort.

Just my $.02

I understand where you are coming from. DH and I also preferred a more subdued color scheme - in fact, our whole house is furnished in neutral off-white/beige tones. I did not do my homework when we checked into CR, and was totally taken aback by the bold color scheme. I must have cringed a bit when I saw the bedspreads. But the view of the castle more than make up for the decor. I kept the drapes open and the castle was the first thing that caught our attention when we walked into the room and only thing we saw after we turn off the lights.

Have stayed at the CR every year since opening 3-4 times a year. I believe the rooms have been refurbished definately once and maybe twice over the years. Just there 2 weeks ago. The current theme is the bright colors and Artsy "Contemporary" shapes. We have stayed at just about every WDW hotel and keep going back to the CR. Convenience, big rooms other than DVC, good service. Have stayed in all sections, Tower suites, tower, north and south wings. Tower is to noisy for me and to much activity although the view is unreal. North wing is close to the main building but seems to be more crowded than the South wing. South wing parking is closer and less crowded, you kind of have to weave your way around to get to South wing parking. Favorite room is the Junior Suites in the wings, VERY large rooms but limited to only 12 in the entire Hotel. Have gotten the Jr. Suites for $200 a night on specials and well worth it. Dining table for 4, wet bar, frig, King bed, Large real bathroom, 2 glass doors, living room area. It is all one large room shaped like a dog leg. Well thats my plug for the CR, hope it helps. Enjoy your trip. :earsboy:PS where on Long Island? Born and raised in Greenport, LI, North Fork. Now in S. Florida.

I do understand the attitude of just stay somewhere else but I really do LOVE the idea of literally being right on the monorail with a tower room where at GF you're not guaranteed the main building and at Poly it's not possible also everyone saying how huge the rooms are compared to the other resorts so when I started looking into what the room decor is since I've never seen them I was shocked at how hideous they were (IMO) but then saw the neutral rooms and got confused. I agree that the view and location and having the monorail practically outside the door is probably well worth it and more than makes up for what I consider to be ugly decor. I hope to make up my mind soon.
