My issue is calling out someone that's done nothing wrong.
What is your definition of “calling someone out”? Mentioning our displeasure to the waiter? Posting here about it?
I do think it’s fair to discreetly provide feedback in the moment, which is what we did.
And just because something isn’t specifically forbidden, doesn’t make it appropriate. If the person sitting next to you loudly farted and burped through the whole meal would you say nothing because it’s not officially disallowed? (Ok, maybe a far-fetched example but it illustrates my point)
even if the waiter figures out who you are, what exactly do you expect to happen?
I’m sorry you don’t agree with my decision not to share the restaurant. I think, ultimately, it doesn’t really matter which exact place it was. The overall discussion is still valid as I’m sure it’s not isolated to just this one dining establishment anyway. I will say it was not a signature dining place.
As a matter of course, I try not to be too specific when cast members are discussed on a public forum (unless it's 100% positive). I have a ton of respect for the CMs…they deal with a lot of grey areas.
If the waiter made that type of response like you said he shouldn’t have gotten a smaller tip
I can tell you that we did not leave as big a tip as we ordinarily would have as we felt the waiter’s response lacked a bit of understanding or even a solution. With that said, our tip was still over 20% because everything else was fine.
