last week, my wife and i found out that our BWV property cleared ROFR, and we're waiting to close on the property. we will have 400 points to use as of 4/06. this is our "ideal" plan....

1) book a two-week trip in mid-late june at, possibly, two resorts - one week at each (BCV + OKW?). then...

2) book a one-week trip just after christmas at our home resort, BWV

what are the odds that we will have problems booking either of these two trips? i know that - assuming we can't start booking until mid-feb - we will be 9-10 months out for the christmas trip.....don't know if that's too late to get in or not....

Personally if it were I would go fo June and stay 2 weeks.2 weeks is always better than one :teeth:
The week after Christmas is going to be a madhouse. There is noway I would go during that time. But if you dont mind the crowds Christmas time is Beautiful at Disney.

The week after Christmas is very busy. If you want to see the Christmas decorations and shows, they usually start right after Thanksgiving, so a week or 2 before the Christmas holiday is less busy, but with all the holiday stuff. It also would cost you less points. As for June, it should not be overly busy, but you might get a bigger amount of kids just getting out of school, especially HS grads who might want to have fun before they go off to college.

all good points!

with the amount of points we are getting this year (since the seller had banked all '05 points), we can actually afford to do both - 2 weeks in the summer and 1 week at christmas.

i, personally, would prefer NOT to go the week after christmas for those very reasons...however, my wife is a teacher and we are pretty much limited to whatever days she can get off...unfortunately, early december is going to be out :sad1:

Go for it! I would do both under those circumstances. We love those 2 week WDW vacations! Just be sure you are in a full size unit for that length of time, and not a studio.

I may be in the minority here but...

Have you ever stayed 2 weeks at one time?

I have always believed that if I am paying for airfare it costs the same if you stay 10 days or 1 week {airfare that is}. Well twice I stayed for 10 days - I can't believe these words are coming from my fingertips, 10 days was too long! We were REALLY ready to go home after 7 or 8 days. We do things outside the park too! We can't wait to go back - just for a week at a time though.

I don't want to change your plans - just keep it in mind.

Have a wonderful vacation!

We love long stays but we've only done 2 weeks straight on 2 occasions. Once in mid to late Sept (fantastic crowd-wise !) and once in late Nov through early Dec (more crowded but loved the holiday decor). We felt we could do the parks and everything at a much more leisurely pace. The only down part was leaving our pets behind for 2 weeks (that was hard !). I'm not sure I'd want to plan a Christmas/New Years week stay unless I wasn't too concerned about spending time in the parks. Just not sure I'd want to deal with the stress of those crowds.

psu4glory,
December is a wonderful time to go, but be mentally prepared for the massive crowds from Christmas through New Years. I think you should be fine to book this week. Congrats and Welcome Home !

Congratulations on passing ROFR!

Keep in touch with your agent for those nagging questions that come up between now and closing. That is their job, to walk you through the ENTIRE process.

HAPPY "MAGICAL" VACATIONING,

Off topic, but that is one adorable baby. :sunny:

Have you considered a week at WDW in June and a week at VB? We like VB, and it is a different 'feel' than the WDW resorts. I know I wouldn't want to stay 2 weeks at WDW either.

ACTUALLY what I would do for my 'perfect' vacation is go to WDW for a week and then go on a 7 night Disney Cruise.

We are thinking of trying the week after Christmas too next year, but I am just not sure about how I will feel about the crowds. We have gone the week before Christmas, and that was very crowded. I can't imagine it being more packed than that!

BUT the decorations are great to see, and if you don't care about gettng on all the rides, I would say go, just to enjoy the holiday stuff.
