Just Slap a Band-Aid on it and Everything Will be Fine! 2025 Food and Wine Trip Report! (Updated 1/7 x2!!)

I'm looking forward to hearing about your experience at Beak and Barrel. My sister-in-law wanted to try it. I was able to get a lunch time reservation for our February trip.
We really enjoyed the drinks there, but we found the seating to be hit or miss. Our first time there we had a standing table, which we're not a fan of, especially after a long day, but at least that table was in the middle of the room so we were able to see everything going on. Another time we were at some bar stools in the far corner where we couldn't see anything going on. The most recent time we went, we had a great table in the main room and got lucky to share it with some really fun people, which was the most fun visit we had there since everyone was getting really into being a pirate!

Love Skipper's Canteen. Definitely my go-to in the MK. We just got a Trader Joe's in our town so putting that cheese bread on the list - thanks for the tip! Interested to hear what you think of Beak and Barrel.
Isn't it good? We think it's the best food in MK. Ohhhh, Trader Joe's is so amazing, and yes the cheese bread they have there is so good!

We like B&B, but don't love it. Our visit in December was the most fun since we were at a table with some really fun people who really took becoming a pirate seriously. Other visits our seats weren't as good, but we do really enjoy the drinks there so will go back occasionally.

Same. Location really seems to make a difference. We were lucky enough to be stood (my feet did not feel lucky at the time as I'd really wanted to sit) at a shallow bar/counter in the main room (not the main bar) but with just a few steps & basically staying in our assigned area we were able to get a good view of the antics in the other rooms (ship in a bottle and the "map room"). I think they did a great job with the theming, the servers were all adorably into it, and certainly nice to get an adult beverage in the MK, but I'm not in a big hurry to go back.

Day 4, Part 5: Beak and Barrel!

We last left off heading over to Beak and Barrel. We arrived just before 5:40 for our 5:45 reservation. After getting checked-in, we stood off to the side to wait to be called.

There was a bit of a wait, about 10 minutes, before we were called.

We were led inside and over to a standing shelf. Not gonna lie, I wasn’t a fan of this location. It was behind the stained glass so we couldn’t really see much of the main bar either, plus I had really hoped to get a seat! Oh well, it is what it is.

Our server appeared almost immediately and went over the rules and asked if we had any questions on the menu, we hadn’t even opened them yet at that point so didn’t just yet. So he left for a minute to give us some time to peruse the menu.

I ended up ordering the plunderers punch and mom got the port of call. When the server dropped them off he goes “drink up me hearties!” so of course I had to respond with “yo ho!” He was like, oh, you’ve been here before! Nope, we just ride Pirates a lot. :rotfl:

We both enjoyed our drinks, and other than the standing, we enjoyed this place! I do not get how anyone could have two drinks in just 45 minutes there, like those drinks were strong and rather large!

Around 6:20 our server started coming by to remind us that time was running out, which was fine, we were almost done with our drinks and had a party to get to!

We ended up leaving around 6:25, and since mom’s foot was bothering her from standing for so long, we made our way just across the way to a planter to sit on for a few so she could rest her foot.

While sitting there we kept hearing thunder and eventually flashes of lightning. So I pulled up the radar, and it did not look good. There was a big ol storm heading towards us!

After sitting for a bit, we made our way over to Frontierland where we like to start the party since the Country Bears are usually out entertaining and the Cadaver Dans typically come out there right at 7. We found a spot along the fence by the boardwalk to wait for either to come out, but I guess due to the incoming storm, neither the bears nor the Cadaver Dans came out this evening.

We did get a glimpse of the construction going on though...

While waiting we were shocked at the lines forming for the treat stations at the Country Bears and Diamond Horseshoe they stretched so far in both directions! I’ve never seen lines like that at any party before the party even started! I’m guessing people were lining up to get somewhere indoors before the rain hit?

Since the rain was getting close, we decided that getting inside might be a good idea, so made our way over towards the HM.

We were again shocked at the line to get in! It was back past the Liberty Bell dock. The posted wait time was still only 15 minutes though, so we decided to get in line.

Well, they lied. It took almost 40 minutes to get into the stretching room! Yikes! In the meantime I was tracking the storms on my phone, it was not looking good...

Next up: It’s Raining, It’s Pouring, the Ghosts are Snoring!

Day 4, Part 6: It’s Raining, It’s Pouring, the Ghosts are Snoring!

We last left off getting onto the HM! It was a great ride as always, and since the wait was so long, it took us into the party time, and we love riding the HM as our first ride of the party!

When we got off the ride and started to make our way out we hit a wall of people. Apparently, the rain had arrived and no one wanted to leave the shelter of the exit.

It got packed in there, and soon a CM had to come through and yell at everyone they had to leave, since they were blocking the exit.

Fortunately, mom and I had come prepared and brought umbrellas, so we made our way out into the storm.

We decided to see what the trick or treat lines were like at that point so made our way to Diamond Horseshoe, only to see the line snaking all through Frontierland! I have never seen lines like this before at a MNSSHP!

Since we didn’t really want to wait in such a long line outside in the pouring rain, we moved on. We made our way over to Tomorrowland to see what the treat lines were like at Monsters Inc, and while the line was also crazy long, at least this one wrapped under the cover of Tomorrowland Terrace, so we decided to get into that one.

While waiting I pulled up the app to check the ride wait times to figure out our next stop, and while I was expecting to see the outdoor rides down with the storm, I was shocked that almost all the indoor rides were closed too! What on earth?!?! No wonder the treat lines were crazy, all the rides were down and none of the outdoor entertainment was happening with the storm! I found out later there was a big power outage which is why the indoor rides were down too. Yikes!

It took a while to get through the Monsters Inc treat line, but soon we were getting our first handfuls of candy of the night! And the CMs were giving out multiple big handfuls which was nice, just at this first stop my bag was already 75% full! Thankfully I brought an extra bag to put candy in. ::yes::

At that point with the rides all down and the lines for trick or treating being so long, we decided to just go start the line for the dessert party. It was super early, only 8:00, but at that point there wasn’t really much else to do and the storm was still going strong and we liked the idea of staying under cover.

Next up: Dessert Party!

The shelf has got to be the worst location in Beak and Barrell. Is the 45-minute limit for everything, or just because it was a party night?

I have a feeling that this is a place to get a drink and then eat lunch somewhere else.

This is sad. I would be upset to miss so much of the event activities.

We had this happen in AK, when leaving the Lion King show. It was pouring outside and no one wanted to leave the theater. Luckily, it gave us time to put on the rain gear.

I went to Beak and Barrel in September and we had the last table against the outside door in the furthest room possible. I wasn't a fan. I've actually had two reservations since then and have cancelled both because I just think it was such a letdown the first time.

At least we had seats though...your poor mom ☹️

In the meantime I was tracking the storms on my phone, it was not looking good...

Yikes! Weren't you at the rainy Christmas Part too?? What luck!

Oh my gosh, they should have given you a free ticket or refund, that's terrible!

Well at least there's that. We have stingy CMs at our Halloween party and the lines were crazy long.

Good thing you booked this!

Agree, we were not a fan of it. At least unlike Oga's, it seems most of the spots here are sitting. Yeah, it's a 45 minute limit all the time, and they're really good at letting you know that your time is up. We did go back later in the night and got to stay longer, but that's not always the case as we discovered in December.
I have a feeling that this is a place to get a drink and then eat lunch somewhere else.
Yeah, with just one drink it felt very rushed, I can't imagine trying to quickly eat on top of it. Although they do have some food items that look good. We may try food there one of these trips, but it's not a priority.
This is sad. I would be upset to miss so much of the event activities.
I know, we weren't thrilled with this night. But in retrospect in years of going to these parties this is the first one that was completely rained out, so I guess we've been pretty lucky overall!
We had this happen in AK, when leaving the Lion King show. It was pouring outside and no one wanted to leave the theater. Luckily, it gave us time to put on the rain gear.
Yeah, it's amazing how quickly that exit filled up! I'm glad our umbrellas were easy to access so we could make our way out.

Yeah, it's wild how where you're seating makes such a big difference. We were in that back corner on another visit and even though we had seats that time, it was our least favorite spot.
Yikes! Weren't you at the rainy Christmas Part too?? What luck!
Yup! This was not our year for parties!
Oh my gosh, they should have given you a free ticket or refund, that's terrible!
Oh they did, they sent out a push notification that everyone would get a one day park hopper that could be used anytime in the next year. Since we're APs we went to guest services the next day to see if there was another option and were given the option of either a ticket for another party that week or a full refund. We got the refund since we were leaving before the next party.
Well at least there's that. We have stingy CMs at our Halloween party and the lines were crazy long.
Yeah, that was one nice thing about this night, all the CMs at the treat stations were giving out multiple handfuls of candy.
Good thing you booked this!
I know, I'm so happy we had somewhere dry to be!
