Brad's French Club participates every year. He has his shoebox sitting here waiting to be filled. He said the hardest is picking the age group.

It's nice to see that others are doing this also.

This is a great idea! I never heard of this until seeing the post!DD and i will be doing this over the weekend!
We dont have any drop off locations near us so I will be mailing mine.
For those that used the Rubbermaid shoeboxes, did you wrap them?

Hi Allicat,

I'm going to wrap my rubbermaid box (lid separately).and then tie it loosely together with ribbon so it can be opened and inspected.

Those videos always make me cry. We watch them every year and everyone grabs the tissues before it starts!

December 9th I get to help process the shoeboxes. I am so excited. I started working with this project in '97 and this is the first time I've got to help process boxes!!!!

Here is a tip if you are sending in more than one shoebox: You do not need to write a separate check for each box. You can just include one check for all of the boxes. Do this especially if you want a tax-deductible receipt. It also makes it a little easier on those processing donations! (Trust me, this is the portion I know very well!)

DD and I did this last year and are going tonight to do it again. As far as the age groups go - last year we did three boxes - one for every group! Our church sponsors this for our Christmas project - last year was the first year they did it and I really like it.

Another worthy project that we've done before is the Angel Tree. That's buying a gift for a child who's parent is in prison. The parent has to apply for this and put down what they'd like you to get and sizes etc. It's then delivered as a gift to the child from their parent. I've had a friend who's distributed them to children in our county and she says it's the most heartwarming thing she's ever done.
