I had a SWA card that I opened to get the 50000 rapid rewards points, but closed it several months ago. Now I see that they are making the offer again! Has anyone ever successfully received this card through two separate offers?

I haven't personally done it, but I know many people have. You might have to call and talk to a rep over the phone to get the card again instead of just using the automated process online. Good luck!

You cannot churn chase cards-their systems track it. That being said, there are different types of the chase southwest card (2 personal and 2 business), you can get a different one than you had before and still get the bonus.

This is not true, I just did it. I closed my SW Visa last summer, and got another one in January. The 50000 points have been deposited in my account.

from what I'm reading, it has to be a different type of card, premier,personal,business,or....I forget the other one.... or you don't get the bonus points.... not personal experience, but what I read:thumbsup2

I received the same card both times, the premier, with the $99 fee and 6000 anniversary miles.

I think it depends on when you closed it and the offer. Some consider you a returning customer if it is within 6 months I believe. If after the 6 months, no problem. I would call and ask.

The incentive is that you pay the fee and then you need to charge $2K over the first 2-3 months. This basically makes back the flight points so Chase is really impartial to allowing you to take the deal. They would prefer you have the card available and hope you use it in the future than say no.

Good luck. Calling them and asking may make sense just to make sure if you are afraid of the request affecting your credit rating.

We are thinking of doing this promotion as well. Is there any waiting period on flights?

I'm on my third card, my DH is on his second.

My first two, and his first one was just the regular one, $69 annual fee.

I cancelled my first and he cancelled his first.

In November we both applied for the premier (expecting to be denied), but both were approved and already have our miles. We don't have a business, so we didn't go that route.

So, I currently have two, but am going to cancel one of them. I think I'll keep the premier, since it offers no foreign transaction fees and 6000 bonus miles annually, but I will probably have DH cancel his since we don't both need it.

Dh applied for the card and was approved. His card and paperwork just arrived from Chase, but there is no mention of the 50000 rapid rewards points, or how to earn them, anywhere in the paperwork. Will this info arrive separately from Southwest, or is it possible they issued him a card with no rapind rewards points at all?

My card came with no mention of the 50,000 points and I received no additional paperwork. However, I used the card and two weeks later the 50,000 points appeared in my rapid rewards account:). I wouldn't worry you will get the points:).

Same here. I recently received the card; no paperwork or mention of 50,000 points. I just charged the amount needed for the points so hopefully RR account will show them as quickly as the pp.

yes you can -- I've not done it (yet) on their SW card -- but used to churn the Disney Visa and Marriot Rewards cards and always got the "sign up" promos.

And as someone else asked---both my wife and I have credit scores over 800, so any impact to them has been very minimal and well worth the additional rewards.

Got it! I called VISA and the nice guy on the phone confirmed both that the promotional offer was there and the terms for earning the bonus points. I only mentioned the 50000 rapid rewards points; he discussed needing to spend $2000 in the first two months to earn the points, so I know for sure that it's on the account. YAY! Now I know we'll be able to go see DD when she is on the college program!

:cool1: I'm thinking about cancelling our SW card and then reapplying in a few months if they happen to have the 50,000 point promo again (we got our card of May 2012 and used our points to fly this January)... Did you reapply in the same person's name that you had originally cancelled? How many months had it been since you cancelled? Thanks!

DH and I each had cards in our own names from the promo about a year ago (maybe May 2012?), where for a $69 fee, you got 50000 RR points after the first time you used the card. I closed these cards in early Feb. 2013. I applied for new cards last week, just before the promo ended ( spend $2000 in the first two months and get 50000 RR points). DH was accepted for the $69 annual fee card and I was approved for the $99 annual fee card. I would have applied for both of us to have the $69 card, but the system wouldn't link me through that night. We are happy to pay the fee for the points, as DD will be doing the college program in the fall and we anticipate quite a bit of flying!

Thank you for your response! Yes, we signed up last Apr/May of 2012 as well. Dh got the $69 annual fee card. I did not get one (I currently am a SAHM). I think we'll definitely cancel his card this week to avoid the 1 year anniversary annual fee and then *hopefully* reapply in his name during the next 50,000 promo. I agree, the points are WELL worth the annual fee! We were able to get 4 round trip tickets from Pittsburgh to Orlando for just under the 50,000 points this January.
