We usually stay at BCV but I am considering booking a few days at Poly or AKL. I wanted to know more about their pool areas.

Poly: I have not been to the poly since they made the pool into the "Volcano pool" what exactly does it entail? Is there a slide?

ALK: I walked through AKL's pool area before but do not recall seeing a slide - is there one?

Which one would be better for a 5 & 9 year old? Does either have a health club near the pool with locker room like BC's SAB does?

Gosh, I don't recall a slide at AKL either.

I have stayed at both resorts, and while the AKL pool is a little bigger, I think Poly pool wins hands down. The slide goes through the volcano and is very cool. Plus there is a waterfall there. Also, it has the zero depth entry like the AKL pool has.

Between the two I would definitely pick the Poly over AKL for more reasons than just the pool, but that is what you asked about, and I still pick the Poly.

Correction: There is a silde at AKL, but it is much smaller and shorter than the one at the Poly.

Thanks Brian :thumbsup2 I should have thought to check allears for myself - but I still wanted some input from people who have stayed there.

I have stayed at the Poly, but not AKL. The Volcano pool is beautiful and it does have a nice slide. It also has zero entry, which is nice for us who don't like getting in and out of pools. It does not have a hot tub though. There is not a Health Club at the Poly, but guests of the Poly can use the Grand Floridian's. It is a nice resort, the kids seem to love the pool. It is usually crowded. I haven't been to GF health club, so I can't help you on that. It would be nice if the Poly could get a health club and hot tub. I think it is the only thing missing at this resort. I guess most people get enough of a workout walking in the parks, I know I do. It is still a very popular resort despite it.

I've stayed at both; they are my two favorites. I have five year old twins. One is a daredevil and loved both slides. One is not such a daredevil and preferred the AKL slide since its tamer and there is no dark interior part. The AKL pool is decidedly and noticeably bigger and generally feels less crowded. Both have zero entry area. AKL does have hot tubs whereas the Poly does not. They are both attractively themed to my eye. The Poly has a 2nd quiet pool whereas the AKL does not.

To me, the AKL pool feels alot like the WL pool. The slide is about the same and there are rock formations all around. My kids (age 10) think it's a little boring. The Poly slide is longer but it also has a tunnel part that I do not like. It seems darker and longer than the enclosed part of the slide at SAB. It's steeper too. But DD and DS loved it. I LOVE the Poly pool otherwise - it has the zero entry and the beach is right there too. But I personally don't like the Poly pool slide (and I love the slide at SAB).
