Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween 2023 Super Thread

I understand that. I guess my posts are not making sense.

I was comparing the process to regular park ticket purchases on the app. Park tickets do not not appear to redirect buyers to the website and can be purchased straight off the app.

So, I thought that the app was recognizing (glitching) some OBB purchases the same way it recognizes park tickets.
You are correct that regular tickets are able to be fully purchased in the app (or on the website). For special event tickets, you can click "select tickets" in the app, but then it opens a browser on your phone/device and you actually buy those tickets on the website, not inside the app. I guess they do this so that everyone gets funneled through one website to buy special event tickets and gets into the virtual queue (except that functionality was not fully working properly during this on-sale).

I've purchased my kids costumes and am working on my own - but am worried we won't get tickets :( And it will all be a waste of money and time.

Just make sure you're in this thread when they do drop (and hopefully we'll get a date/time on 7/6). I can't speak for others but I'll 100% be doing my best to help some people with any spare queues if I have them to share.

It's not a guarantee, but it does increase your chances.

Same I plan on being here to help at the next date. Unfortunately I had missed the last mess because I had been surprised with tickets to an early Indiana Jones showing and couldn't assist.

Why not wait until Disney updates what’s going on and puts the tickets back on sale…if they didn’t sell them out already

There is no indication whatsoever that the event is completely sold out. Last reports indicated all dates were still available before they killed off the queue.

And I sincerely hope not even Disney would be stupid enough to use a wording like they have on the site now if all tickets were gone. They had a riot in the making on hand as it was.

I would assume is not as well. The entire event seems like such a cluster and not sure how they can improve upon it and not expect the same demand

What are you guys doing on party day before the party? I'm not sure if sleeping in a little, pool time, and eating are enough. On the other hand I don't want to try to squeeze in too much and be rushing to get there on time or have exhausted kids.

This is our first Oogie Boogie Bash but we’ve gone to several Halloween parties and after hours events at Disney World. On party days we usually eat a big breakfast and then tend to lounge around the hotel all day. My 6 year old barely made it to 9 o’clock at last year’s Halloween party. I made him take a nap before we went to after hours at Hollywood Studios in May and he was able to make it to 1am. Rest is definitely needed, especially if you have younger kids.

The bubble is smaller and everything is closer at Disneyland so if you are staying on property or even some of the very close hotels on Harbor it's not hard at all to spend a few hours at the parks in the AM and pop into your room for a nap if you need. We'll be at the new DVC tower at Disneyland Hotel so only a 10 or so min walk from the parks to the hotel. If you are staying at the Grand Cal even better :)

I was just talking with @MrsNVDISFamily this AM and we are considering spending a few hours at Disneyland the morning of the event and perhaps even jumping over to DCA to do a few rides before we go to the room to rest and change into our costumes (if we do dress up...)

A separate DVC member on sale would have been helpful too, but I guess maybe wouldn't stop scalpers.?

I would love a staying on site sale which would also include us DVC folk who are staying during OBB. Just think you should have to scan your room card to show you are staying at one of the three Disney hotels during the OBB you purchase to avoid scalpers buying a cheap room months out to buy a bunch of tickets and then cancel the room. If you are spending big bucks to stay on property at a Disney hotel (and yes DVC is also paying a big chunk of change but in another way), I think giving you the chance to plan in advance and get some OBB tickets with your September/October trips to Disneyland is a good idea. I know this is another way of making it more expensive to go, but it's also such a pain to lock in a ton of money to book your room and then gamble that you will have tickets if OBB is the main reason for your special trip to Disneyland Resort.

There are 25 dates, my guess is everyone will get tickets. Probably the only date that will sell out initially will be Halloween day

That's good to know! Would we be able to spend a great deal of time at Downtown Disney or would that only take up a small portion of our day before the party starts?

We're thinking something similar! Will be staying at GCH and, as a Magic Key holder, I'm thinking I may as well spend the morning in DCA. The direct entrance will make it easy to head back, take a midday nap, and then get ready for the party. :flower1:

You're so sweet, being from Australia means I only have one shot at getting the date I need, I have no idea how you share a que spot but I'll be on here for sure.

I decided to not do a park on the party day, we will sleep in and I'm planning on doing brunch/lunch at Storytellers that day then go to World of Disney before heading to the hotel to get ready and then go to DCA when the party time opens.

I feel for those with the severe time differences and commitments that keep them from being able to sit in a long queue. It's rough to say the least.

It used to be a lot easier to share queues, but Disney keeps removing features from Queue It when used for DLR related things. I have to go digging in the source code now to get the pre-link and the Queue ID to add to the end of the link.

They've never told us we can't share. But they sure do make it difficult to share 😂

I hate we still have a couple more days of twiddling our thumbs waiting for an update. I know so many need to get their plans set and we don't even know if we'll get an updated sale date on the next scheduled update day.

Hmmmm.... It's hard to say if I could recommend a full half day in Downtown Disney right now due to how much is under construction. That's not to say that there isn't a lot to do right now there, but it's a bit less than usual and Downtown Disney is a much smaller thing vs Disney Springs at WDW. There is plenty of retail therapy and eats to try. If you aren't staying at or have visited the Grand Cal, you should also take a detour to check out the lobby and other things there. We actually love eating at the GCH Craftsman quick service even if we aren't staying at the Grand Cal when we have time. Breakfast with characters at Storytellers Cafe is a great option if you don't have a park ticket but want an awesome experience.

If you are a hotel/resort fan like us, you might also consider doing a tour of the new Disneyland Tower DVC property while you are visiting to kill some time (if you are visiting after it opens). We love DVC tours and as long as you don't mind asking, you and the family could walk away with a fair amount of free stuff. Word of caution... DVC can be an expensive hobby :)
