Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween 2023 Super Thread

I don’t see how this time will be any different seeing as the demand hasn’t changed. Good luck to all..may the odds be in your favor

Because if we're to believe the rumor, it wasn't demand but bots that broke things. If they've actually done something to help block them we might see an improvement.

Also if they've finally patched the "sometimes redirects you to the ticket purchase page and not the queue" when you click from the app flaw that's existed for awhile. That would help too.

We'll find out :confused3

I just found out I have to give a big presentation for work right at 9am PST on Tuesday... Hopefully I won't get my wires crossed and start talking about Oogie Boogie Bash because Mr. Oogie and the ticket queue is definitely going to be on my screen just behind my notes lol

😂 Good luck staying on topic! 💚

considering all of trouble that this has been, it would be nice if they added party dates...especially if some dates are already sold out 🎃
I agree but am sure adding new dates would take much more time to plan for staffing and all kinds of logistics that would take more time than is available. Ideally things improve for next year is my best hope after this rough experience.

It may not matter much but I’ve left feedback with Disney about how frustrating it was to spend 7 hours in an online queue and not get a chance to buy tickets!

Just as an FYI and word of caution, this is happening on FB groups dedicated to OBB. *Please* be careful, and only purchase from the official Disney site.

The page pictured below is one of the main FB unofficial groups for OBB this year and the moderator/admin is the one conning people out of money, I'm guessing the page was created for that purpose and has over 10K members. The original post by that admin read funny to me, so I was cautious (would never purchase from anyone but Disney anyway) but it sounds like quite a few people have been scammed already.

Good grief. How would anyone think the FB group would be legit? Maybe I would buy from a ticket stub situation if I were desperate, but only because I know they would refund the money if the tickets didn't work the night of. Buying on FB? Even I am not that desperate.

Hi all!
This will be our first OBB and I have a few questions for the seasoned vets (based on prior years, as I realize things may be different this year) -

1. Is there anything party-exclusive in Carsland, or can we get the “Halloween experience” (lighting, ride overlays, characters in costume) during a regular night at DCA? Trying to focus only on those things that are exclusive to OBB on party night.

2. On average, how much time should I allot to each treat trail? I know popularity will vary by villain, but if I budget for, say, 30 minutes per trail would that be sufficient?

3. We will be staying at VDH, better to utilize the main entrance at 3, or enter from the Grand Californian?

4. Does OBB offer any special magic shots during the party, and if so, any that are must dos? We have attended many MNSSHP in WDW and love the party exclusive magic shots there, but haven’t seen any mentioned in my OBB research?

5. Recommendations for great photo spots in general to get a few pics of our costumes before the sun goes down??

Thank you!!!

And good luck to all of you who will be trying to get tickets next week!!!

I’ll let others answer more in-depth, but to answer #2, treat trails usually take less than 5min, so you don’t need to allot any time basically.

1. I've never been to Oogie Boogie Bash, but based on what I've read there isn't much unique in Cars Land during the parties. Ride overlays and costumed vehicles are there regardless of the parties, at least during much of September and all of October. I have read that Radiator Springs is lit up in spooky colors during the event, but I'm not sure if that's exclusive to the parties.

Still trying to decide if we want to try for tix Tues and attend OBB while visiting in Sept. I would love everyone's opinion based on our interests if it's worth it for us this trip?

  • The main draw to attend OBB would be low ride wait times. Has that been the case in the last couple of years still? (I went to Halloween Party in DL with friends back in 2017 when you could use it to get into both parks and E-ticket rides were walk-ons after 9 pm)

  • The family members coming with me this year are DH, my sister (50), her 18-year-old daughter, my brother (49), and his 18-year-old daughter, and our elderly mother. The group is not big into meeting characters or dressing up ourselves. First time visit for DH to Disneyland and for one of the nieces, it's her first time going to any Disney park.

  • We initially planned on going to DL for 2 full days and 1 full DCA for one (no park hoppers). Now I'm wondering if we should do DL for 2 days and only OBB for DCA? Or perhaps 2 DL, 1 DCA, 1 OBB? Again, the group doesn't really care much about characters or candy. Mainly rides.
Thoughts?
Thanks everyone!

I have the day off work for the new date, still have to get up at 2am to get in the que, unfortunately the day off is to take my car for a service which is 1 hour away with several spots in between with no internet service. So I will have 4 hours to get the tickets before I have to leave my house for the dealership.
I think I may call them tomorrow and have the appointment pushed back a few hours that way i'll have a bit more of a buffer.

what was the longest time anyone has been in an OBB que before?

1. There is a treat trail but it is one without a villain. Everything else is available other days. I recommend being there at sunset for a special Halloween experience.

2. I think we did OBB early once and it was maybe 10 minutes. That was the longest. They go fast and you get treats throughout the line. I wouldn't plan on them taking much time.

3. You might consider using the new PPH entrance. Last year we found it to go quickly. Be prepared the mix in time is extremely busy. I wouldn't plan on riding any rides during that time. Wait until they start clearing people out.

4. I don't recall. We are not big on that. There are long lines usually for some of the special characters they have out.

5. They have a headless horsemen statue out that is pretty popular. Across from Little Mermaid in front of Pixar Pal Around is an iconic shot.

Yes. The ride times will be low. As usually RSR will be the longest. You might consider riding it as the last ride of the night or single rider.

We never dress up. Last year I wore a This is My Halloween Costume shirt and got a lot of positive feedback. It is just fun to see the creative costumes everyone else has. We don't bother with the characters because the lines are usually so long. You can also see characters at the treat trails and during the parade without sacrificing park time.

Without hoppers you could get away with OBB and 2 DL days. See the shows during mix in and then focus on rides during the party. You can ride everything in the park during the party. We have done that and still completed treat trails and the parade. With this plan you won't be able to see WOC though, which is a great show. Just something to consider.

1. No. There is a non-descript treat trail there, but nothing you don't get on regular Halloween time nights.
2. Treat trails will vary throughout the party. See a short line. I'd hop in it. The longer waits are for villain's grove and the special character meet and greets, but generally speaking the treat trail lines move swiftly.
3. Yes. (Be aware that DCA can get packed during the mix in time after 3pm).
4. There are meet and greets for photo ops, but I think they vary year to year. This is the one thing we avoid, as the meet and greet lines seem to have the slowest lines.
5. I like the headless horseman in the main square, the entrance to cars land and of course a photo on the pier. All of these can be done on non OBB nights as well.

Overall, this is one event you really cant plan for. You can prioritize what you want to do, but that's about it. We focus on treat trails, rides, villains grove and the parade. As I said earlier. See a short line. Get in it.

Also, not sure what date you are going, but I'd come here for some reports to see what character treat trail is the most popular. Last year it was Ernesto de la Cruz. So we knew when we saw a shorter line we should get in it.

Good luck.

So if you have 3 full days to go to parks, id definitely go DL, DCA, DL & do OBB on the same day as DCA.
DL-2, DCA-1, OBB -1 (same day as DCA)

Thanks so much!! We aren’t going until October, so will definitely follow along here once the parties start.

My teens love the rides, but if people have never been to DCA at all, I think it would be pretty stressful to see all of DCA and ride all of the rides by only doing the party. I would recommend 2 days at DL, 1 at DCA (can be same day as OOB). Then you have the entire day in case rides go down, etc. The interactive treat trails are super fun just to see the characters ”in character”. You can walk straight through and not take the candy at all. They move pretty quickly. Waiting in line to actually meet characters and take photos can take a lot of time, so we skip this usually during OOB. But the parade is very nice to watch, very Disney, but it takes some time. So again, trying to do every ride and all of the other really neat aspects of DCA like Animation Academy and the shows etc (AA is closed during the party but should be open during the mix in) would be almost impossible.

To me, DCA is a very underrated park (and our favorite park), so I think you would be really short-changing it to only go to OOB. We LOVE OOB as well, but I think the park and the party are two very different experiences, so I hope you can find time for both!
