Im sailing the Magic 12/23/18 it has a OOB blockout.I think that it means I can't use a past onboard booking of 10% off. I can make a future OOB with the 10% and onboard credit, correct.

That’s correct - a blackout date means you cannot use an OBB to book that cruise with a discount. Once onboard, you are welcome to book an OBB or plaveholder to use on a future cruise. The future cruise cannot be on the blackout list.

Enjoy your cruise!

You could use the placeholder and get the OBC though. Just not the discount.
Is that a good deal though? It cost $250 for me to book a placeholder and the on board credit wouldn't be that much so we'd end up losing money

Depends on if you want to take that cruise and if you would be using the placeholder for another before 2 years are up.

I don’t mess with placeholders anyway. I would rather book an actual date and change if necessary.

we'd end up losing money

No money lost, as the $250 cost of the placeholder is applied towards your deposit once a firm date/cruise is selected. Whether it's a "good deal" -- free $200 OBC (or $100) can't be bad, but if you'd be taking another non-concierge cruise in the timeframe, that would be greater in-hand value due to receiving the discount as well.

So if the cruise is blacked out you'd still get the OBC and the remaining money would just go towards the cruise total? That's good to know I thought I'd just lose the $50 and only get the $200.

The money you put down on a placeholder serves as part of your deposit. You would pay the deposit minus $250.

The OBC remains the same as if you had booked a specific date.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!
