I received an email about checking into our resort online. Can someone explain this for me? Is it worth doing?

I always do it. It means that when I arrive at the resort my packet is all ready for me.
 
At 10 days out you can go Online and checkin.You give the CC you want to use to charge anything to the room. Plus you let Disney know when you expect to arrive. Once you get to the hotel your package with the KTTW card are ready and there is a line for those who have done the online checkin. We have done it our last 3 trips. If you don't have special request go for it.:thumbsup2
 
I have never done this but posted a question about it a while back and got the feedback that IF you are hoping to get in to our room earlier than standard check in time, you may have a better chance if you do online check in because they know when you'll arrive. 43895745487 caveats later, it isn't guaranteeing you'll get an early check in but COULD give you a better chance of getting an earlier check in. Or, so I've been told.
 

This last time in Oct my room was not ready at 11am. First time for everything I guess. So I handed my carryon to BS and was heading for the boat to DTD for lunch. Just missed it, so headed for the bus. In the 20 mins I spent wandering POFQ my cell phone went off and my room was ready.:banana:

You just never know what you'll get when you get there, or how long it will take for the room to be ready.
 
I've used this service since they introduced it and love it. What a pleasure to have your packet ready to go, skipping the check-in line and you're off to the room. It's terrific after a long day of travel.
 
I don't mean to discourage you, but the 2 times we used online check in, we saved no time whatsoever. In fact, the lines were longer than regular check in. Thus, when we checked in at WL last summer, we used the normal line and got done ahead of the on line check in people. Maybe it's just luck, but in my experience, not a time saver.
 
I have used it exclusively since it became available, and so far (knocking on wood) my room has always been ready when I arrive - but I don't arrive super early in the morning, which might make a difference.

The online check in is designed as a convenience for people who don't have any special requests, or questions they need answered at check in. It's for people who want to grab their packet and go. However, the line will get long if you arrive just after an ME drop-off, or if someone does have questions. It has always taken me less than five minutes at the counter.

If you have special requests you would like met, or if you have a lot of questions, or if you are a first time visitor, I would recommend regular check in, so you don't feel rushed and can take care of business to your satisfaction.
 
I just did the online check in for Pop Century 3 days ago. They had a place to check off two special requests you might want. Bottom floor and close to the bus stop. I checked both but I'll be pleasantly surprised if I get either.:santa:
 
I did online check in yesterday! We've done it in the past and loved it. Just walked up and everything was ready to go.
 
For me personally, I won't use it again. I've had issues twice. I do make requests but they are very general...such as, not facing pool or a certain building. The first time I used it they gave me the complete opposite of what I had requested and when I asked if they had what I wanted they said yes...with out even checking....but it took about 15 minutes for them to get a manager and make the change. The second time I used it there was no CM working the online area and they did not have my package ready. In both cases there was only 1 CM working the online area and at least 4 working the regular line. Both times I was first off the DME and first in line....the first time, there 3 other families that were using the online check in. The second, at least half the bus got off and went to that line....my guess would be about 6-8 families, maybe more.

My last visit we did not do the online check in and had to wait in the regular line which had 3 people ahead of us. We were through the line and walking to our room in under 10 minutes. Also, the CM doing my check in took a few minutes to try and locate a FedEx that was arriving for me.
 
Just used it this morning for our stay next week. Used it the last two times we went. We DO NOT go during the really busy seasons and it has made a positive difference for us. We got taken care of more quickly, were given two options on the location we requested and got in the room earlier than they post. Now that was the Caribbean Beach and I know it's a big place and probably had lots of choices, but we even chose the village we prefer to stay in and got it.
I even asked the gal on the phone when we first made the reservations last year if it really made a difference and she said it definitely does. But again, we don't go when it's wall to wall people. :yay:

We are checking in next week as well........from the looks of things it WILL BE wall to wall people ;)
 
This trip will be myself and my mom. I want my credit card on my key and she wants her credit card on her key. Can't list two credit cards for Online Check-In....guessing I'll be in the regular check in line? Any suggestions?
