I just went to Saratoga, theres definitely a few issues with the online check in everyone needs to know about:

It doesnt really save you time if you check in late at night. I rolled into the resort at 12:15am and i saw the sign for where you are supposed to jsut get your room key and resort info and go to your room but there was no one there to help you, only 1 or 2 people checking people in the regular way so i still had to wait 15 minutes behind people to check in.

Special requests dont seem to get processed - i had special requests for grandstand or the springs and i had a request to have a room close to my friend who had a room under her name. Before i did the online check in i called the club to make sure that my special requests would be processed and they told me that our requests would not get lost if we checked in online. I ended up checking in online and my friend did not. Sure enough my friend arrived first and they assigned us to rooms far apart from one another and they wanted to put us in congress park, which was strange too because there was plenty of availability in the grandstand. After explaining the issue the hotel staff did put us in the grandstand section.

i guess the lesson learned is that if you have special requests or needs or if you are arriving at off peak times of day, its not worth doing the online check in

I have yet to figure out much advantage to it anyway. Maybe if you are taking DME it would make sense, because then everyone gets to the resort in a big wave, but I just don't see the point in it.

I didn't do online check-in, don;t know if it works for ressies made on Developer Points, however, I did just get back from a weekend at SSR. We arrived Thursday night at midnight, and there was a couple behind me who had done the online check-in and just needed to get their keys....however, there was only one CM at the check-in desk, and I was next in line, stuck behind a group of women who had to ask every question under the sun.....please go to your room and pick up the phone and ask Guest Services or call the front desk form your room.......anyway, after checking-in in person, the couple behind me had walked away.

However for our next stay in three weeks, I do want to stay in the Springs, so now I need to submit a special request. I guess I would just call for that huh? We'll be arriving in the afternoon this time around.

Perhaps the advantage is to those who choose to check in regularly. :)

We were expecting it to be helpful? It came from the Disney IT shop! :rolleyes1

Funny story. On our honeymoon in 2002, we stayed at POR, we came in right after a DCL bus had dropped off it's passengers...........

Sunday morning, we were leaving SSR, and drove up to the Carraige House to check out. We had some room charges, and wanted to make sure that the Internet charge did not show. Just as we are driving up to the Carraige House, we are at the corner of Broadway waiting to turn left, what comes rambling down the road, but two TWO TWO! DCL busses. I snapped off my seat belt, and we quickly made the left hand turn and parked in the 30 min parking spaces. Hubster told me to grab his bag (with our info) and he would grab the baby. I was running up to the front doors of the Carraige House.

The joke wa son us however, as the busses only dropped off 4 people. Arrrgggghhhhh!

That has happened to me...I have run like a crazy person because, like most people, I hate lines...only to have been fooled by the buses. Crazy

I checked into Saratoga last Friday - online checkin was perfect!!!

There was a fairly long line for the regular check in, but no wait for me. It took a minute to pay for the dining plan - the cm simply asked if I wanted to use the same credit card I listed online & I said yes. Every one of my requests was met, and the room was ready at 1pm when I arrived.

To me online checkin is an advantage, and it's a no brainer. Why on earth would I NOT do it?? I have nothing to lose & everything to gain.

Great, that's exactly what my question was going to be. We added the DDP for the second half of our trip next week at VWL. I've checked in online already but didn't know if the credit card I entered would be used automatically to pay for the DDP or not. Glad to hear check in still goes quickly.

LOL! That would have been me too! I've gotten stuck behind crowds at OKW when that bus arrives!

We checked out of Saratoga last Friday. I had originally used the online check in since we were suppose to arrive on March 2nd. But, since mother nature was going to dump a foot of snow on us, we decided to leave on Sunday. Even though we arrived a day earlier I still went to the online check in & got our room key. I usually don't request a certain area but this time we were given the Springs (rm# 4411) Talk about convience. I just booked another trip for March 27-April 1st. I think I'll try the online check in again to see what area we are given.....lol
