What’s for Dinner Tonight?

I made sliced turkey breast in gravy, mashed potatoes, peas and Pillsbury biscuits.

I made 2 kinds of Christmas cookies tonight too so we had those for dessert. Oatmeal Cinnamon Chip (I took the easy way out for these and used a Betty Crocker mix for the cookies. Got the chips on Amazon, LOL) and Chocolate chip - from scratch.

Today is family Christmas lunch day.
Opening presents .......lots for the grand kids. They did not want to pack them all. Which is good because we like to watch them open.
So....opening presents for awhile and then lunch and then more opening. There are 7 of us so it takes awhile.
Lunch at DS's request is tacos, taquitos, quesadillas (DGD doesn't like tacos, so she is fixing those), fruit tray, chips, salsa and Nacho sauce.
Cookie tray for dessert.

Like I said yesterday I met friends at a New Mexican restaurant. I had to tell you how delicious this place was. Now you all know I ❤️ margaritas but Mexican food is not my favorite. I like it but don’t love it. Well this place did not disappoint. We shared 3 appetizers- empanadas, taquitos and queso with chorizo.
We also shared a pitcher of blood orange margaritas.
@mickey916 it’s called the National Club Mexican Cantina in New Bedford. It is worth the drive!!

Haha! You knew I was going to ask, lol! We will check that out!

I missed the two holiday parties I planned to attend due to illness so decided to invite a few friends over during the time between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Finished my cookie baking so began work on a smaller version of my meat pate and some trout rillettes just because. The timing will allow my wine delivery to arrive without knocking heads with the earlier December holidays. Still working on the rest of the menu but since it’ll just be appetizers should be fine.

Had the last of the quart of chili for dinner with some cornbread and sliced avocado.

Sorry you missed the earlier holiday parties, but I'm sure yours will be perfect. Everything you make sounds amazing. Lucky guests.

We lost power today for several hours due to high winds so we went out to dinner. I had steak tips, mashed potatoes and green beans. DH got meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. We were very happy to see our power back on when we returned home.

we had a wind storm earlier in the week and thankfully most people had their power restored by the next day but there's still about 3500 in the region without. I imagine there will be a mad dash to the grocery stores when they are restored.
Beef "stew" that was really just soup because it wouldn't thicken no matter what I did. 😭

in a pinch you can use a few tablespoons of instant mashed potatoes to thicken it. just toss it in and stir.

We went to a friends annual holiday party. He had Turkey, ham, sweat potato casserole, twice baked potatoes, green beans casserole, pinwheels, cheese ball, baked Brie, Swedish meatballs, and cheese pull apart bread.

I brought a cookie platter, eggnog Bundt cake, and cookie boxes for friends.

We had a late Christmas lunch at Capital Grille at the fancy pants mall up the road from us. It’s always so good and love the service.

We started with a glass of champagne and their amazing bread basket. My meal was butternut squash bisque soup and the entree of seared salmon on Mediterranean couscous, asparagus & marinated tomatoes. My hubby had the ribeye sandwich & truffle fries.

@LoveDaisy I’m making 2 of your cookie recipes tomorrow. Can’t wait!! 🎄🍪
