Online ADRs Thread (Updated FAQ 9/9/9)

I keep getting this message

"Sorry, the booking system is currently unavailable. Please try again later or call (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. If you are under 18 years of age, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to dial this number"

Anyone else :confused3

The system has been down from at least 10pm EST last night as I tried to look up some pricing right around that time and could not. Guess they're updating something.

I just called 407 WDW DINE and was told they could not book ADRs over the phone because the system was down and to check back in about an hour

Same here. :sad2:
I have been getting that message since 10.30p.m last night when I got in from work.
I also got the same message on Monday night at midnight when I got in from work. Not sure if it was ever up on tues as I did not get a chance to check.

FYI..... I just tried again and the ADR systen online is up and running!!!
:woohoo::woohoo::dance3:

What happens if you book an ADR and you book for 1 and then you show up with 2 people? Will one person get seated and the other not? Should I book for 2 and if only 1 person show up, will I be charged for 2?

Thanks :)

You shouldn't have a problem. Since there's no such thing as a 1-top table, adding a second person wouldn't affect availability at the restaurant.

Going from 1 to 8...now that's a different story. 1 to 4 may even be an issue because it could require a larger table, but probably not. The restaurants are usually very accommodating. Last December, we had a party of 8 and were told when making ADR's that we would have to go with two separate tables of 4. When we got to the restaurants, every single one of them sat us all at a single table of 8. I really think they go out of their way to accommodate you, so don't sweat it!

As for charging for a second person if they don't show...the only time I think this would come into play is if it's an ADR that requires pre-payment like CRT or a dinner show like Mickey's Backyard BBQ, Spirit of Aloha, Hoop-Dee-Doo, etc.

Question about cancelling ADR's:

If we make ADR's for our trip and we're feeling too tired or worn out that night, is it a problem to cancel? I'm talking about regular TS restaurants, not the ones that require CC guarantee. What's the cancellation policy???

Quick question;

I booked our ADR's a few months ago for our upcoming trip. We are a party of 8. We just found out that one of my sister's will be able to join us for a day and so my other sister went online and booked a new reservation for a party of 9 for the day my sister will be with us. Do I need to call and cancel the first reservation I made, or will they automatically kick it out? My sister said that she didn't have to put our "resort" reservation # in, so I'm not sure if they'd even know it was for the same party. Does that make sense, I'm not sure I explained it very well. Basically I need to know if I need to call to cancel our first reservation that I made over the phone for 8, since we now have a reservation for basically the same time for 9. If they'll automatically kick it out, then I don't have to bother calling, but I wanted to check first, thanks!

I've actually gotten the error message every night I've tried looking over the past week. Haven't had an issue during the daytime, though. Wonder if they do nightly maintenance on the system??
Just a thought.
Very annoying, none the less.

How will they know which res to keep & which to "kick"? If she booked them w/ the same phone #, they may cancel both of them & you don't want to risk that. If she didn't they both may just stay there. Since you wouldn't want to hold 2 ADRs that someone here may be desperate for, it would be great if you'd call to cancel...or cancel online. If you can retrieve your ARD online w/ the conf #, you can cancel it right there...no need to waste time on hold. :)

Awesome, that's what I was looking for. It makes it much easier if I can just do it online. I didn't know you could also cancel online, thanks very much. At first, I was thinking they'd just automatically cancel the first one, but then I was thinking that I don't really know how they'd know we were the same ppl. if she didn't use a our "resort" confirmation #, so I was thinking I'd have to call to cancel, but doing it online is much easier, thanks!

During the day when I'm at work, I don't have a problem looking for ADRs and making them.

When I try at home (at night or on the weekend), it is a diff story. The first time I look for an ADR, it acts normal. If I look for one after that, it acts all nutty. Instead of the usual screen I see which just has stuff on the left side of the screen - date you are looking for, time, and # of people in group there is all this stuff on the right side that asks for all the children in the party's age (there is like 10 boxes for this) and then a place where it claims you can put a range of dates to look for. I do not see this side during the day at work when I have made ADRs. Then it will say to retrieve my ressie, whenever I try to do this, it doesn't work. Whenever I see this crazy screen, it won't let me do ANYTHING. This really confuses me...I'm not sure what is going on. Has anyone experienced something similar? :(

It doesn't seem to work for me. Keeps trying to down load some file named "quote" onto my PC. Also won't bring up the calendar for me to pick a date. Bummer. I guess I will be calling in the morning.

This is similar to what has happened to me when I try to access it at home (at night or on weekend). It will try to download that thing and do nothing else...doesn't do this to me during the day...:confused3

Thanks for bumping.... why isn't this a sticky anymore when there are still so many of us who haven't used it yet with questions???? :confused3

Here are my questions:

My 90 day is 8/29. I used a TA to make my ressie. If I decide to make my ADR's myself and NOT entrust them to IPO, can I still do this on line??

Also, can you log in and play with the system before your 90 day or does it lock you out until your 90th day?? Every time I try to log in with my ressie number and phone number, it tells me that it cannot find my ressie (and yes, I have my real WDW ressie # :goodvibes)

TIA!

We are visiting two resorts, not thinking about it I made all my ADRs using the res # of the first resort. Does it matter which resort res # is attached to the ADRs?

I can't help on the TA part. However, to play with the system, anyone (on site or off, whatever!) can book on the system up to 90 days out. So for example, you could book now for say late October. Just pick a day and a restaurant and a time and search for it. This will show you how it works, how the alternatives come up, etc. If you wanted, you could even choose something less popular and actually do the whole booking (to see how it works) and then cancel it (to see how that works). All you need to make a reservation is a name and a phone number. If you're afraid of messing up your real reservation, just use a cell number or something different to practice.

You won't be able to actually pull up your reservation linked with the dining until you're at 90 days. Then theoretically you can also pull up the 90+10. Online didn't start until a couple weeks after I'd done my 90+10, so you'd be better off reading through the thread to get info on how to do that. Seems like a fair number of people STILL are having trouble on their first day and end up calling instead, but then the next day it pops up for them.

But if nothing else, now you can get an understanding of the system. If you don't actually book anything, you don't really need anything (even a phone number) just to do searches.

One caveat - I've been trying all morning to get on and keep getting 404 - Page not Found errors every time I try to go into the "make reservation" screen for a restaurant. So you don't try and think you're doing it wrong! ;)
