Online ADRs Thread (Updated FAQ 9/9/9)

... it's almost as if the Disney/It people don't want you to use it. On that first page they have that BIG announcement about PHONING in to make your reservations and NOTHING about doing it online.

I'm sure the system is working like a champ from Disney's perspective, but in my opinion as a Guest the design/layout is not intuitive at all.

Thanks for giving me directions everybody, I'm sure I'll be able to navigate through to at least "see" the system, though it's probably too close to my trip to make any ADRs.

They've been charging credit cards, at the time of booking, for quite awhile now.

Then it must have just been the CM that I got on the phone. She took down my credit card number but never charged it. She said that they would charge my credit card after my meal. I've never made ADR's before, so when it was done for me the first time without charging my credit card, I just assumed that was how it went. Oh well.....then I guess nothing has changed as far as that goes - BUT

I still cancelled my CRT breakfast ressie at 10:30am on 9/12 - so its out there if anyone wants it ;)

Just an idea...

It would be great if someone would add the instructions for linking the dining res to your resort res on the 1st page of the sticky.

Couldn't find my thread, thought it was posted in the right place, since it was asking a specific question about how to access the system...I wanted to thank the folks who took pity on me & responded. I think I see their posts up-thread, but wow...this thread has gotten so huge, maybe it needs its own sub-board :goodvibes .

So thanks to the kind souls that responded and walked me through the process in my initial thread. I was right, it is basically too close to my vacation to use the system for booking.

I'm probably alone in this, but right now it doesn't seem all that intuitive to me. And what's up with only being able to check one restaurant at a time and only for one hour around a specific time? Unless I'm missing something, I can't check a restaurant for general availability, like "breakfast or "anytime(on a certain day)" or "Magic Kingdom restaurants" for "breakfast/lunch/dinner" on "whatever date".

It certainly looks like a boon to uber-planners though and I'll probably be able to use it for our next trip. Oh well, I actually usually have great experiences talking to the Dine Line CMs - I'll give them a call right now and keep them employed :thumbsup2

I was playing around with the system last night to familiarize myself with the process & looked at CRT for 12:30 on Sat, Sept 12. Much to my surprise, it came back with a 2:10 ADR! Too bad I can't use it as my ADR window doesn't start till tomorrow, but to anyone who can use it, it was still available this morning when I checked again.

I have thought about why it only lets you put in a certain time to seach instead of a range of times. I think it has to do with limiting how many people look at a specific time. I wouldn't like if everyone could put in say 5-8pm, choose a time to only find out at check out that it was no longer available because too many people chose the same time. Or if everyone is searching for 5-8pm and it comes back not avaialble because too many are searching the same restaurant for the same time.

Not everyone will searching for 5pm if they really want 6;30pm or searching for 7pm if they really want 5pm.

I am not an IT person so I am probably looking at it wrong but this is what I came up with.

what's up with only being able to check one restaurant at a time and only for one hour around a specific time?

I find it really odd that you can check for multiple DAYS (but only at the same time for all days) but not check for a wider range of times on one day. Where's the logic in that?

Does anyone know if Disney is working on fixing the system for anyone who booked thru a TA?? (as in has anyone called and talked to anyone there) my dates are along way off so I am hoping they are fixing this problem I would like to make all my reservations at the same time pixiedust:

My TA said that Disney is aware of the problem and they have gotten a ton of complaints from TA's and from guests booked through TA's about this issue. They said they are trying to work out the issue as fast as possible as they don't want to keep getting calls from irate people about it

I book in 13 days too! Woohoo! As of right now, if you booked w/ a TA (like I did...and even w/ this glitch, I do NOT regret it), you can't access the +10 feature of the online booking system. (You CAN make an ADR, but only for the 1st day of your trip.)For some reason, the system doesn't recognize the TA res #...someone posted it may be an issue w/ the phone number... Hopefully, in the next 13 days they'll figure out a way to fix this (AND DVC bookings, too!!)

Your TA CAN use their online system to access the 90+10. The TA system doesn't request your phone number.

Or, you can CALL the WDW-DINE & make your ADR's 90+10 yourself on the phone.

So, if you want to do your ADR's for your whole trip, either have your TA do it, or call at 7am EST when the phone lines open...

My TA said that they do ask for a phone number on the TA site but not until you are checking out. They only request the room reservation number when you begin, if you are doing the +10. So that is the difference between the disneyworld.com area and the TA area.

I messed around with the system last night and this morning and even pulled up my reservation for 2010!!! Put in my confirmation number and phone number and it popped right up. It's a room only reservation so I wonder if it'll still pull up when I change it over to a package in August (or if they change my reservation number).

Also I played with it around 7:45 am and there was no LeCellier or Ohana for 9/16. :scared1: Well nothing until 8:55 pm or later. I guess I will be putting those at the end of my trip when I go to make it more likely I get them.

Aaaah! I’m so frustrated! I’m one of the folks who is unable to pull up their resort ressie on the Dining page. It comes up just fine on the My Disney Vacation page, but on the Dining page, it just keeps saying “The reservation you were trying to retrieve cannot be found. Please check that the information you provided is correct.” It IS correct, but in desperation, I have tried every phone number I can think of and still nothing.

So far I have spoken to CMs in Dining, Central Reservations, Guest Services & Tech Support. They all confirmed that my current home phone # is the number associated with my resort reservation, and that it should pull up on the Dining page. They aren’t sure why it won’t.

So the bottom line seems to be that in order to do my 90 + 10 days of ADRs, I’ll have to call. Grrr!

(And to the PP who was having the same problem & wondered if it had to do with being more than 90 days out. It doesn’t. My “problem” ressie is for September 19-25. Then we switch resorts on the 25th, and that later ressie pulls up just fine on the Dining page.)

I wonder if the ADR system is only containing details of resort reservations within the 90+10 window currently? I don't arrive until Sep 25th, so that might explain why I can retrieve. Or has anyone else outside their window been able to get in?

After a couple of years on the board, I just figured this out a few days ago. I had misunderstood it all along as well. Unfortunately, I got up pre-6am the other day for reservations only to find out that it was 10 days to soon to make my ressies.

Ugh! That's no fun!

I've been on the boards here for a couple years as well and, obviously, just figured this out too.

Thanks for all the help everyone!!!

You kind of gave yourself my answer to your initial complaint - the reason they probably haven't advertised it on their site yet is because there are still things they want to fix and improve. Once they get these initial problems worked out, I'm sure they'll be more upfront about it being available.

Can someone please help me? I click on the link, it just takes me to Disney Restaurant info. I do it again and again. How do I get to step 2? What is the WCC.:confused3

You need to look for a restaurant that books reservations. The first couple listed on there by default aren't table service. Surf around and find the restaurants you want.

And WCC is Whispering Canyon Cafe. I clicked Resorts, then Wilderness Lodge, and it showed me the restaurants in that hotel. Two, WCC and Artists Pointe have "Book a Reservation" buttons.

Please forgive me in advance - I've read through a TON of posts over the last 2 days and I've tried to keep up with as many as possible! :rotfl2: I'm anxious and excited like a lot of you because my ADR date is in 13 days! :cool1:

SO, I understand there are issues with Conf#s from TA's versus booking directly with Disney. I understand the process of how to book online as I've played around with it (and cancelled!) and it's cool once you get the hang of it. So, anyone can book just 90 days out - it's the 90 +10 that's the issue. Where can I "test" my confirmation number and phone number? I'm almost positive the phone number is valid because I've seen our number in there, but the confirmation number will be the hiccup, correct? I went to the Online Check'in where it asks for a Confirmation number and a phone number and I'm getting the error message:

My Disney Vacation - Error
Sorry, we are not able to display your reservation at this time. Please try again later.

Is this a typical error message you all are experiencing or does this indicate indeed my conf# won't work?

I remember another poster asked if the TA is able to give us a different conf# so we could do these online ourselves, or is it the TA's are able to book online since they're connecting to a different site or portal?

If I have to call, no problem - I took the day off! :lmao: I'd love to be able to book online like most others, however and have the same opportunity at 6am.

I sincerely appreciate someone taking the time to answer my questions and give me advice!

Thanks,
Heather

The issue is not with the resort confirmation number when booking through a TA it is with the phone number associated with the reservation. when booking through a TA, my TA said, that there isn't an area to input the guest phone number to associate it with the resort booking. Even the TA phone number doesn't work because it is built into their ID and not entered in a specific place when building the reservation.

Me too! Why can't I check to see if CRT is available at any time on a certain day? That would be nice.

Anyway, up at 5am my time, 6am EST and got everything except Mickey's Backyard BBQ. I was bummed about that, but I know that one often has cancellations, so I'll keep checking. I couldn't get CRT for the day I wanted, but was able to get it, so no big deal. Everything else was easy. Love the new system! As soon as 6am EST rolled around, my associated reservation allowed me to book for the days of my stay. I checked it right at about 5:58am and I couldn't, so that was kind of cool.

I found it easier to log into my account and save my favorites as it makes it easier to find the places I want to make ADRs at instead of scrolling through 9 pages.[/QUOTE]

Great Idea! Thanks!
