Sue and I were returning from a 3-day cruise on the Disney Wonder (one of the $99/person specials). We were the 2nd family off the boat and through customs. We were on the first DCL bus back to the airport. And as soon as we checked our bags, we headed for the car rental counter to pickup our PT Cruiser and head for Epcot. We could not pass up the opportunity to same the Food & Wine Festival and, even though we only had a little under 4 hours to do so, we made the best of our time. We actually made two laps around the World Showcase. On our way out of Epcot, we bumped into Fire14 (Juli) and her husband Danny (who were celebrating their honeymoon at WDW). We said a quick "hello" and "goodbye" and made the quick drive back to the airport.
Then the real fun began. Our flight from Orlando to Charlotte was delayed due to a weather system that was racing eastward. All airports west of the Mississippi River were closed. We finally got clearance and made it to Charlotte. It turns out that the same plane that took us to Charlotte was the one that was going on to Akron. As we flew further northward, the view out the left side of the plane was like something from the movie "The Langoliers". All I could see was darkness and lightning. By the time we arrived in Akron, the weather had descended on the airport. After three unsuccessful attempts to land, our pilot gave up and took us to Pittsburgh. We spent the night in Pittsburgh and took a bus back to Akron the next day.
Little did we know what would greet us when we returned to our hometown. The same storm that had been tossing us around the sky had spawned several tornados. One tornado touched down just 6 blocks from our home. And our kids were there with Sue's mom during the storm. Our town was fortunate as there were no fatalities. The damaged homes have since been repaired, but I will long remember November 10th.
Hopefully this November 10th will be a little less "exciting".

Fortunately our area was spared of a lot of the damage, but the damage to some within 50 miles of us was unbelievable
